Mission Statement
We are a community of believers in
God as revealed in Jesus Christ as
Lord. We believe in the authority of
the Bible, the equality of all members,
unity in diversity, and the priesthood of
all believers. In communion with and
through the power of the Holy Spirit,
we follow the Way of Jesus the Christ
and share the Good News through
worship, education, ministries, and
missions. As an autonomous Baptist
Church, we value our heritage and the freedom it allows us to minister
alongside other groups, both Christian and non-Christian. We express our
love for all in gratitude for the love God has shown to us.

Rustlings...
John, the author
of our fourth gospel,
wrote, “Jesus did
many other things
as well. If every
one of them were written down, I
suppose that even the whole world
would not have room for the books
that would be written.” Matthew,
Mark, Luke and John each tried
to condense the life of Jesus into
just a few chapters. The church
presses the life of Christ into the
liturgical year – the First Sunday of
Advent to Ascension Sunday. It’s
a challenge to contain so great a
story in such a small space of page
and time.
This Sunday, our Communications
Committee will unveil our church’s
new logo. It is quite a challenge to
press the essence of our church
into one simple symbol, but our
Communications Committee has
done inspired, excellent work. I
have the privilege of incorporating
the elements of this new emblem
of our faith family into my sermon.
I want you to see what I see. I
want us to be able to interpret the
insightful nuances of this logo to
our friends and neighbors. I want
the magnets and stickers that
grace our automobiles to convey
not just our identity, but the depth
of our identity.

This Sunday at First Baptist Greenville
Sunday, April 12, is a day full of activities for members and guests
of First Baptist Greenville. For those wishing to chaperone/teach/assist
in areas that involve preschool, children or youth, going through the
Protecting Our Children process is required. The class will be offered at
9:30 a.m. in A-317.
During worship at
10:30 a.m., the guest
service choir will be the
Furman University Chamber
Choir under the direction
of Bill Thomas, former
FBG music minister. This auditioned choir is a select group of vocalists,
non-music and music majors, who perform both accompanied and a
cappella. Performing across the Southeast, the choir saves its most
robust performance – ”A Festival of Lessons and Carols” – for Furman.
The annual event draws a standing-room only crowd to Daniel Chapel.
The new church logo will also be unveiled during this service. Don’t miss it!
At 11:30 a.m., the congregation will move to the Fellowship Hall for a
church conference and lunch. The Youth Ministry is preparing a baked
potato bar. No reservations are required. As this is an activity to raise
funds for the Youth Ministry, please come prepared to make a donation.
After worship, children registered with Becky
will gather to film the next of their Vacation
Bible School videos. They plan to finish by
2:00 p.m.
At 2:00 p.m., meet others at the AYMC for
the 2nd Annual Walk for Prevention of Child
Sunday, April 12 at 2:00 PM
Abuse. Register at www.projectpinwheel.com.

Focus on
Missions:
During the
month of April,
emphasis is
being placed
on the on-going
collection of food items for the
United Ministries pantry.
In partnership with Leadership
Greenville and Harper Corporation
and in order to return dignity to
those seeking assistance, United
Ministries plans to overhaul their
crisis food distribution by creating a
client choice food pantry. This will
give those seeking assistance the
ability to choose food items that
fit their families’ needs. In the old
system, pre-packaged bags are
given to qualifying participants. In
the new model, participants will
be able to choose from available
foods that best fit their families’
nutritional needs, thereby cutting
down on food waste and allowing
active participation in their food
assistance experience.
The client choice food pantry
design is donated by Leadership
Greenville Class 41 member Tom
Lockhart and his firm McMillan
Pazdan Smith Architecture.
Harper Corporation will donate
construction services.
Please place donated items
in the collection containers
