nly one player broke par and three were at even par at our April
tournamnent held at Pheasant Run in Chowchilla. The 30 mph
winds that blew through the valley the previous two days was
gone, much to the delight of all the golfers that day.
Kevin Kast won the tournament with a net score of -1 under par,
just one stroke ahead of a three-way tie for second at net par 72. The
three players were Jim Espinosa, Geo Leyva and new member Dave
Dill. Kast’s season began slowly, but has come on strong in the last two
months to win at Pheasant Run and play on the winning 4-person team
at Madera Muni in March.
The closest to the hole competition was won by Jon Russell and
Kevin Kast.

a tournament at a
legitimate private
country club setting is this coming
weekend at Belmont Country Club
right here in Fresno. Yes, we’ve played at
other private country clubs, most notably, the Nicklaus Club, Monterey, just one
month ago. But it was more of a unique opportunity to play an awesome golf course
in a majestic setting and not one of our
regularly scheduled tournaments.

Chairman, made the bold move to contact
Belmont CC when Sherwood Forest GC
dropped out. And all the Club members
I’ve spoken to about playing at Belmont
are super excited about the opportunity to
test their skill on a course maintained to
country club standards. Thank you, Jim, for
thinking outside the box.

Back in February, an email was sent out to
all of the D6 Golf Club members to invite
you to play a round of golf at the Exclusive
Nicholas Club - Monterey (formerly Pasadera Country Club). Five D6 Club members
and four prospective members accepted
the invitation. We had a great day of golf
and followed that up with fresh seafood on
the Monterey wharf before heading home.

We only have eight players from our Club
playing in the State Tournament this year.
The courses will be in southern California,
Pasedena and Whittier, for the first time in
decades. Our D6 Club has come close to
winning the last few years so we are hoping to make it to the top of the leaderboard
this year. If you haven’t played in the State
Tournament before, you are missing out on a
wonderful, PGA style team competition. You
should try it at least once in your life.
