Gordon & Sklar Early Childhood Center Program
Temple Beth El’s Early Childhood Center (ECC) opened its doors on
September 10, 2001, under the direction of Director, Terry Fierle. As
incoming ECC Director, I am looking forward to continuing our outstanding
programming for each of our young students and their families. We are
committed to nurturing each child’s natural love of learning while integrating
Jewish values and cultures, all in a creative and stimulating environment. For

B’shalom,
Carolyn Kappes
family center
Join us for a summer of friends, activities and summer fun! Our seven one week session program features
classes for children ages 7 months through entering Kindergarten.
Our youngest children and parents begin their journey in the ECC Family Center. Family participation
classes include programming for parents and children 7 – 24 months. Our Family Center makes a great
entry into our program.
Preschool 2-4 years old
We offer classes 5 days per week this summer. A rotation of activities will fill your child’s day. Summer
themes will be explored through imagination, creative play and theme related special visitors. Daily
activities will include water play, arts and crafts, Jewish celebrations and more!
Camp Simcha - Entering Kindergarten
Looking for a camp that combines the best of your summer memories, with Jewish content, in a small
and nurturing environment? This is it! With special on-site fieldtrips, your child’s day will be filled with fun.
Activities will include Jewish character building, arts and crafts, sports, cooking, science, and music. We
have something for every child. Camp Simcha is for children who are entering Kindergarten. This program
runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Our a.m. and p.m. daycare are also available to our Camp Simcha friends.
See our Extended Care Program for details.
Afternoon Programming
Temple Beth El’s optional Enrichment classes are held 5 days per week from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. each
day for our preschool students. After lunch, at 12:30 p.m., your child will move on to their enrichment class.
Children who are at least 3 years of age and toilet trained are eligible for these classes.
Monday – Music on the Go
Your child will have special time with Gymboree Company with an introduction to music and movement on
an early childhood level.
Tuesday - Mix ‘n Stir
During this time, our campers will create yummy snacks. These hands-on activities will incorporate our
summer themes into the treats they prepare.
Wednesday – Super Science
Children will explore the world of science through hands-on activities and experiments.
Thursday – Yoga for Kids
In this class our young students will be introduced to basic yoga poses and exercises in a fun
developmentally appropriate way.
Friday – Amazing Athletes
Amazing Athletes has been with us for several years and always proves to be a great enrichment class. This
unique tried and tested sports program incorporates balance and hand-eye coordination into an active,
fun-filled afternoon.
Extended Care Program
This optional program is in addition to our core hours. Drop-in care is available on a limited basis.
Breakfast Club 8 a.m.—9 a.m.
Our early drop off program will run from 8 a.m.—9 a.m. Breakfast is provided, and will vary from day to day.
Your child will then have free time to play. At 9 a.m. your child will be escorted to his/her classroom where
they will begin their day.
Snack Buddies (2 p.m.—3 p.m.)
During this period of time, your child will be provided a light, nutritious afternoon snack and enjoy
appropriate activities until their three o’clock pick up time. Your child must be picked up by 3 p.m.

Illness Policy
TBESOC ECC administrators realize the difficulty in finding alternative care for sick children. Adhering to our

in advance to provide substitute childcare for your child, when sick, will avoid last minute worries.

Children who get sick while at the center must be picked up by the parent or other authorized
person within one hour of contact.

Children running a fever must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to the center.
Class Placement
Placement of children is based on developmental readiness as well as chronological age. The final decision
about placement rests solely with the ECC Director of Education.
