Broadheads
The Single Bevel Advantage
When your life is on the line, when it’s the hunt of a lifetime, leave nothing
to chance. If you’re serious about bowhunting make sure you use the best
broadhead, one with the single bevel advantage.
Ever wonder why the meat slicer at your local deli counter has a single bevel
edge? Simple, it’s sharper and cuts better than double bevel blades ever could.
Ever had a shoulder blade or minimal blood trail come between you and your

Now is not the time to wonder if you used
enough broadhead.
First let’s give credit where credit is due. Dr. Ed Ashby has been using highly
controlled tests to measure the effectiveness of various broadhead designs
on game for over 25 years. His conclusions are not opinion, they’re based on
fact. No ballistic gel or other simulated mediums here. These were carefully
conducted tests of broadhead tipped arrows shot into the very medium we as
bowhunters are interested in, actual game animals.
Dr. Ed Ashby’s studies prove that the single bevel edge is superior to double
bevel edges in all situations, especially on bone hits. The double bevel blade
tries to force its way through bone relying on its cutting surfaces and the wedge
shape of its ferrule. It normally fails. In contrast, the twisting action of a single
bevel when it encounters stiff resistance from bone creates a powerful rotational
force. The bone pushes against the bevels causing them to turn. When this
force is combined with the complimentary bevel from the other side it causes
a tremendous twisting action that actually splits and often shatters the bone.
Once compromised bone offers little or no resistance. The result is deeper arrow
penetration and the highest likelihood of passthroughs than with any other
broadhead design.
But wait, there’s more…
Single bevel broadheads twist as they penetrate an animal causing an L-shaped
hole in both sides of the hide. This bleeds much more freely than the straight
slit you may have seen from your old broadheads. Single bevel broadheads give
you more tissue damage and better blood trails than conventional double bevel
broadheads!

What makes us
so different?
The GrizzlyStik
is an incredibly
strong, heavy,
hunting arrow
shaft that was
developed and
designed to do
one thing very well...to lethally penetrate game animals for a quick,
humane kill.
When most other carbon shafts on the market are talking about
speed – we focus on momentum, impact durability and arrow
penetration. The momentum that can be delivered by a heavy
hunting arrow is proven and simple (English war arrows made the
armored French knight obsolete) but the design of the GrizzlyStik
is state of the art.
Continuous Taper Technology
Slow-motion photography proves that when an arrow is shot out
of a bow, it bends and flexes. The sudden acceleration causes
a bending that’s called the archer’s paradox. Draw weight, shaft
and point weight also play an important part in this bending. The
quicker an arrow can straighten out from the paradox the less
drag it has. Tapered GrizzlyStiks, because of their continuous taper
design, have less weight on the rear portion of the arrow enabling
them to quickly straighten out from this bending.
Very little thought is given to what happens to an arrow when it
decelerates when striking a target. The reverse happens. Now,
however, the bending takes place in animal tissue, and this
bending causes friction...drag...which slows penetration. Tapered
GrizzlyStiks, because of their lighter tail weight, straighten out
much more quickly when accelerating and decelerating resulting in
less drag and more penetration.
If a shaft breaks, penetration stops. That’s why the widest and
strongest part of the GrizzlyStik is directly behind the point, where
it’s needed most.
If bone is hit and penetrated, tapered GrizzlyStiks continue to get
smaller. Less bone friction results in greater potential penetration.

Wide Spine Range
Because of the continuous taper of the shaft, the GrizzlyStik has
the widest spine ranges available in the carbon arrow market. Of
course, this spine range is dependent on the type of bow used,
(longbow, recurve or compound) the arrow length and the point
weight of the arrow.
Generally, the Sitka is designed for bows in the 40-55 pound
range. The Alaskan, 50-65 pound range and the Safari, 60 to
100+ pounds of draw weight.
Extreme Forward
of
Center (EFOC)
Tapered GrizzlyStiks are the only
arrow shaft with a built in EFOC,
which is proven to significantly
increase lethal penetration by up
to 15%. Secondly, EFOC along
with the continuous taper design
instantly stabilizes arrow flight for improved accuracy.
The broadhead and the first third of the shaft...pulls...the arrow
through the animal tissue rather than the arrows shaft pushing
the broadhead. Pulling is much more efficient.
Critical Mass
The GrizzlyStik shaft is designed to maximize arrow momentum
by allowing the bowhunter to build arrows in the 10 grains of
total arrow weight per pound of bow draw weight. Simply put,
the Sitka can be made into a finished arrow weighing 400 - 600
grains, the Alaskan, 500 - 700 grains and the Safari, 700 - 1000+
grains.
Multi-Directional Woven Carbon
The original GrizzlyStik is the only hunting arrow to use the Multidirectional Woven Carbon. Other arrow shafts manufacturers use
linear carbon fiber that is wrapped in multiple layers, similar to
a sheet of plywood. These ply’s can delaminate and fracture on
hard frontal impact. The GrizzlyStik structural design is similar is
steel reinforced concrete.

The Sitka is the latest addition to the GrizzlyStik arrow shaft line and is
designed to fill the demand of bowhunters who shoot lighter draw weight
bows but still want a moderately heavy arrow. With its wide static spine
deflection, they shoot like darts out of 40# to 55#+ bows. Finished Sitka
arrows weigh in at approximately 430 to 530+ grains including 125 to 155+
grain heads. The Sitka, full length at 32.5" BOP, comes with brass point
inserts and push-in, tunable white nocks. Straightness tolerance of +/- .005”

GrizzlyStik Alaskan Shafts
The Alaskan, because of its wide spine range and heavy weight, is the most
popular shaft of the GrizzlyStik line. With a static spine designed for 50#-80#
+ bows, the Alaskan shaft makes up a finished arrow weighting between 550
and 650+ grains including a 125 to 250+ grain head. This makes it just right
for most moderate draw weight bows and virtually any game animal from
whitetails to kudu. Finished Alaskan arrows weigh in at approximately 550
and 650+ grains including a 125 to 250+ grain head. The Alaskan, full length
at 32.5" BOP, comes with brass point inserts and push-in, tunable white

GrizzlyStik Safari Shafts
The Safari is designed and built for the largest, toughest and most
dangerous of game animals. Big animals with fibrous skin, thick ribs,
horns, teeth and claws. For a growing number of experiencedbowhunters
of dangerous game, the Safari has become the standard for Cape and
Asiatic Buffalo. It has the same features as the tough Alaskan but
at 16 grains per inch at full length, the Safari is the strongest and
heaviest production shaft available. Finished Safari arrows weigh in at
approximately 550 and 650+ grains including a 125 to 250+ grain head
and are designed to be shot out of bows between 55 and 100+ pounds
draw weight. The Safari, full length at 32.5" BOP, comes with brass point
inserts and push-in, tunable white nocks. Straightness tolerance of +/- .005”
NOTE: The brass point insert is back threaded to accept our internal point
weight system.
BIG FIVE AND DANGEROUS GAME HUNTERS: By adding internal point

Several years ago, Alaska Bowhunting
Supply sold sealskin faced tabs that were
very popular with traditional bowhunters
but the Eskimo lady who made them passed
away. Because these sea mammal products
have to be made by Alaska natives, it was
difficult to find anyone with the skill to
take her place. We finally found the right
Alaska Native craftsmen and we’re please to
once again offer one of the most exotic yet
effective tabs ever offered. Sealskin is tough
but gives a silky smooth and quite release. The
backing is heavy latigo leather and the elastic strap
and Cord Lock make it easy to adjust and get on and off. Made by Alaska

String Silencer – Quiviut
Qiviut (pronounced ki-vee-ute) is the Eskimo
word for the under wool of the musk ox
(oomingmak), an animal that was hunted to
near extinction by commercial whalers during
the last century. Today the “oomingmak”
roams much of its historic range in Arctic
Alaska. However a domestic herd of a few
hundred animals are kept on musk ox farms
where their Qiviut is hand plucked out each
spring and then hand knitted into silky but
extremely expensive garments. Qiviut is as
light as goose down, much lighter than any
synthetic or fur currently being used as a
string silencer. This relates to no loss in arrow
speed which is why it makes such a great string silencer. The grayish-brown
yarn is especially hand spun into yarn for these silencers. Very distinctive
looking. May be used on Flemish twist or continual strand bow strings.
