ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Visitors welcome at the ranches, advance calls appreciated. Pictures of the
horses in the sale were taken in late
June. Weanlings will have been caught
and handled three or four times, and
a halter will be given with every horse
sold. Bring your own lead rope.
W
elcome to the 38th annual Lopez & Meyer Quarter
Horse Production Sale. We have a very colorful
set of weanlings and nice older horses. After a long
cold, dry spring, we were very happy to see the rains
come in mid-May. Our country looks about as good as
we’ve ever seen it and the grass and hay is abundant.
Sale horses should be in excellent condition.
We are pleased welcome new guest consigners:
Denny & Doris Lauing with a very nice set of weanlings
and older horses from their proven barrel stallion along
with their cutting and rope stallions, and Bob and Jan
Quickstad with a very select group of weanlings, and
older horses, most with Cutting and Reining bloodllines.
The Lauing and Meyer weanlings are eligible for the
AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders Program if the
buyer wants to nominate them. Lauings will also have
weanlings that are eligible for the 5 States Barrel
Racing Futurity. Arlen Hulm, Archie Hulm, and Tyen
Freeman have saddle horses in the sale that came off
the Meyer ranch as weanlings. Arlen, Archie and Tyen
have all sold riding horses in our sale in the past. If
anyone wishes to speak to them prior to the sale about
their horses-- feel free to call them--phone numbers
will be listed in the catalog.
Horses we’ve raised are competing and winning in
rodeo--from 4-H to PRCA; plus many top ranch horses
and lots of just nice, riding horses are scattered all
over the US, Canada, and Europe.
We appreciate all those attending our sale, and if
there is anything any of us can do to help you with on
sale day, don’t hesitate to ask.

SNW Northern Frost...
This is our 2nd set of foals by SNW Northern Frost, and we are
very pleased with them. They are a very colorful set of foals and
look like the kind that will make really nice performance horses.
He stands just about 15 hands and is a well-balanced horse with
a big hip and a pretty head. He earned his ROM Arena shown by
J.D. Yates in Heeling. He was also used for heading, calf roping
and breakaway roping. He is a very well mannered horse.
PC Joes Frost is Sun Frost’s highest AQHA Point Earner with
103 Performance Points. We especially liked his bottom side with
the Classy Two Fox by Two Eyed Fox, who was well known for
his success in the show ring and putting such nice dispositions
on his offspring. The Mr Blackburn 41 and Mr Blackburn 14 were
excellent old foundation bloodlines. Like the rest of the Meyer
weanlings, his foals are eligible for nomination to the
Ranching Heritage Breeders
Program.

We are very fond of Tahnee Gay, and have kept four of her daughters for broodmares.
Three of her geldings are in our area – doing well as college rodeo team roping, and just
nice ranch horses. Another of her offspring is “Willow Cutter” who stands at stud down
in Texas.

Here’s an eye-catcher. A 4 year old full brother is making a nice horse, smooth-traveler
with good size. Fixers Crystal Brick was shown in team roping a couple of times and
picked up two heading points. He had plenty of speed and a good disposition. The Big Fix
was an AQHA Champion with 55 Halter Points and 25 Performance Points.

WC Driftwood Buck...
WC Driftwood Buck is broke to ride and was used for team
roping – both heading and heeling. He’s very athletic and
nice to be around.
Ali Jack was ridden in PRCA Calf Roping by Junior
Garrison. His offspring excel in rodeo and AQHA Performance Events.
Dusters Revenue was an outstanding calf roping horse.
He was bred by Claude wood of Nebraska. Skips Starduster was shown in 1981 at the PreNational Shows in Denver.
He won second in heading, fifth in heeling, first in senior
reining and placed in western riding and working cow
horse. This was the first time he was ever shown.
Photo taken June, 2013 – 16 years old.
Poco Fernwood is out of Woodfern by Driftwood, so
WC Driftwood Buck is double-bred Driftwood.
The oldest horses that we’ve raised by WC Driftwood
are now six years old. We know of quite a few of WC Driftwood Buck’s offspring that are being ridden and everyone
says they are smart to train, good moving horses and nice
to get along with.

W
ith agricultural roots embedded deep within South Dakota,
Denny & Doris Lauing/ Lauing Mill Iron L Ranch are carrying on the legacy. Our philosophy is that every animal raised is
given a job. We put a lot of time & effort into training our horses
making sure the horse learns the fundamentals& many aspects of
the performance horse industry. No matter what is asked of our
horses, whether it be roping, cutting or barrel racing….they have
the brains to do it all. We think our broodmare band compliments
our stallions creating a well built program. Our goal is to produce
all around prospects that are athletic, correct confirmation, nice
dispositions and excellent bloodlines that will provide you with
the best opportunity to be successful on ranch or in the arena.
In 2011 we chose to relocate our operation from Central SD to
east of the Black Hills near Sturgis. Even though we changed our
address, our operation continues to focus on the same great genetics. That same year the Lauing Mill Iron L Ranch was recognized by the American Quarter Horse Association as a ‘Ranching
Heritage Breeder’ representing the
longevity, honesty and integrity of
raising quality American Quar-
20
ter Horses while upholding the ranching heritage.
Denny & I have made our lives what they are today by working
together. With the joining of two families, we have managed to give 5
beautiful children the opportunity to learn & compete with these wonderful creatures; Keith Pazour & wife Erin, Scott Pazour & wife Sarah,
Dan Pazour & wife Tessa, Kaylie & husband Aaron Sterud and Shean
Lauing & his wife Kimberly. As our family grows, we now have the
pleasure to do the same for our Grandchildren. We believe our strong
family values & faith has allowed to grow into what we are today.
