MX adds information that was lost at the time of compression. This results in a well-balanced
sound close to the original (e.g., MP3 and WMA or MD and MDLP forms). The Harmonics control
can be used to reintroduce low frequencies lost in the compression process, guaranteeing a consistently vibrant sound in your car.
As for DVD, vivid sound and images are reproduced in powerful expressions and rich music.

L Using Road-EQ
Road-EQ
What is Road EQ (REAL-TIME OPTIMIZED ADAPTIVE DRIVING EQ)?
The sound signal and car noise are recorded with the microphone, and the differences between the
original audio signal and the recorded noise are diminished.
The output signal is corrected for each frequency and the car noise is compensated by comparing
the signal after diminishing the difference.
Natural equalization in real-time is achieved. As a result, noise is compensated for while the car is
running and a comfortable, natural, and powerful sound is reproduced.
In this software, only the ON/OFF mode of Road EQ is available.
Set the Road-EQ to “ON” when:
• you ride with the top down in a convertible.
• you drive on a road with many tunnels.
• you drive with open windows.
• you drive at high-speed.
• you drive on rough roads that generate noise in the car.

Dolby Digital
Dolby Digital: Digital audio compression technology developed by the Dolby Laboratories, Inc.
It conforms to every audio signal from mono (1 channel) to 5.1-channel surround sound. Its distinguishing feature is that the signal for each channel is completely separate, maintaining high sound
quality.
Dolby Pro Logic II
Translates a 2-channel source into 5-channel sound in full bandwidth. An advanced, high-quality
matrix surround decoder extracts spatial characteristics of the original recording, without coloring
the sound.
DTS
A home-use, digital format, high-quality surround system, developed by Digital Theater Systems,
Inc., for movie theaters. The system boasts six separate sound tracks, capable of authentic reproduction of sound typical of movie theaters.
DTS: Digital Theater Systems, Inc.
DTS Neo:6
Translates a 2-channel source into 6-channel sound in full bandwidth. Enables reproduction of a
natural sound field, close to the original source.
PCM
Recording method used for music CDs. By setting PCM output, you can enjoy 2-channel recordings in Dolby Pro Logic II surround (by performing Pro Logic processing), or you can set the
output to play discs recorded in Linear PCM as 2-channel or 3-channel.

About Bi-Phantom
Bi-Phantom features:
The Bi-Phantom function creates a virtual center speaker.
In this mode, on/off of Bi-Phantom and level setting can be performed. This function regards the
setting valid only in the following conditions.
Only when “DOLBY PLII MOVIE” or “Neo:6 CINEMA” are selected for the setting of PCM
output, or when the software which is recorded in Dolby Digital, and the center channel of DTS is
played back, this function is effective.
Bi-Phantom setting:
Bi-Phantom Level can be set between -5dB to +5dB (in ±1dB steps). The default settings are BiPhantom: OFF; Level: 0dB.
Bass Management
Generally, the center speaker of an in-vehicle audio system is a small diameter type, for which it is
difficult to reproduce the low-frequency range. Bass Split enables such low frequencies to be heard
in the center sound field by splitting them into both left and right speakers.
This mode turns Bass Split on and off. You can also adjust the crossover frequency.
The default settings are Bass Split: Off; Frequency: 315Hz.
About Rear Mix
Rear Mix features:
REAR MIX combines the sound of the rear speakers with those of the front (low range).
This function is invalid when Rear Fill is on. In this mode, you can set Rear Mix on or off.
Rear Mix setting:
Rear Mix level can be set between -6dB to +6dB (in ±3dB steps).
The default setting are Rear Mix: Off; Level: 0dB.

About Listening Modes
Listening Mode features:
• Either STANDARD or MAXIMUM (dynamic range compression canceled) mode can be set. The
default setting is STANDARD.
• Adjusts the Dolby Digital and DTS dynamic (compression) range.
This function is valid only when the input signal is Dolby Digital or DTS. The Listening Mode
can be switched in this mode.
STANDARD:
Standard dynamic range compression, recorded in Dolby Digital and DTS software.
MAXIMUM:
No compression applied for full dynamic range.
About Rear Fill
Rear Fill features:
Rear Fill is a function to output the front channel signal from the rear speakers. This function is
valid only for audio sources without rear channel signals.
Rear Fill setting:
Rear Fill can be set to on or off. The default setting is Rear Fill: On.
About 6.1ch Mode
Generates rear center channel signals from both rear speakers.
Dolby Digital EX:
Dolby Digital EX is a technology that creates full-bandwidth output in programs from 5.1 channels
to 6 channels. Using a matrix decoder, 3 surround channels are extracted from the signals that are
recorded on the 2 channels of the program. Use this function with Dolby Digital surround
EX movie soundtracks to bring out optimum effects in the Dolby Digital EX playback mode.
DTS-ES:
DTS-ES is a technology that reproduces 6.1 channel surround sound. DTS-ES has 2 modes,
“Discrete”, in which the sound of 6.1 channels is all recorded independently, and “Matrix”, in
which 6.1 channels is created from the sound of 5.1 channels. These modes are switched automatically corresponding to the number of recording channels.

•
PCM ST (standard): 2ch output (L/R)
PCM 3ch: 3ch output (L/R/Center)
Dolby PLII MOVIE: Suitable for stereo TV, or movie programs encoded in Dolby sound.
Dolby PLII MUSIC: Used in all stereo recordings - wide and deep sound field.
DTS Neo:6 MUSIC: Decodes PCM sound for three-dimensional, 6-channel-like sound field ideal for playing music.
DTS Neo:6 CINEMA: Decode PCM sound source to three-dimensional, 6 channel-like sound
field - ideal for movies.
The vocal position between the center speaker and the L/R speaker can be optimized in Music
mode of Dolby PLII.
Dimension Control: The sound field can be adjusted towards the front or towards the back in
Music mode of Dolby PLII. If the hollow effect is too weak or too strong, then an optimum
balance is achieved from all speakers.
Panorama Mode: The stereo image of the front channels expands to the surround speakers in
Music mode of Dolby PLII. This creates a stimulating “enveloping” effect with the acoustic
image on the sides.
CGAIN: The sound level of the center speaker in Music mode of DTS Neo:6 can be adjusted.
