The emphasis at FXB’s is on completely fresh produce and their fish and vegetables are bought in fresh every day. La Peniche Floating Restaurant Grand Canal 087 790 0077 A unique dining experience on Dublin’s Grand Canal, La Peniche is a barge restaurant moored under the magnificent trees along Mespil Road. The menu is the kind you’d find in a trendy wine bar: platters of cured meats and cheeses, oysters, salads and a few hot dishes. La Stampa Brasserie 35 Dawson Street 677 8611 This 19th century Georgian townhouse is similar to a grand French brasserie with extremely high and ornate ceilings, large mirrors and wooden floors. La Stampa is decorated with Roman urns, statues, busts, gilded holding lamps, plants and flowers. It boasts an impressive selection of European cuisine and the food is always excellently presented. One Pico Restaurant 5-6 Molesworth Place 676 0300 This is classical French cooking with a modern twist and specialities include roasted skate wing accompanied by crisp potato with crab, spinach purée and herb butter and braised beef daube with roasted vine tomatoes. The surroundings are elegant, with crisp white linen and fine china and glassware, and the cooking is exceptionally good: sophisticated, technically demanding dishes are invariably executed with confidence and flair.
