Two Harbors Boaters Guide Considered a cruiser’s paradise, Two Harbors is situated at the Isthmus of Catalina Island. The crystal clear waters and unspoiled vistas will enchant you, and the friendly locals will do their best to help you make the most of your stay. The wide-variety of fauna, hiking, mountain biking, diving and snorkeling are world-renowned. Catalina Harbor, Two Harbors Catalina Island’s most protected harbor is also a U.S. Coast Guard “Year-round Safe Harbor,” one of only two so designated natural harbors in Southern California. It has 117 moorings and anchorage for over 200. Ballast Point, a natural sand spit, extends across a portion of the Harbor entrance. Marina del Rey Yacht Club has a facility at this harbor. There is a public dinghy dock and picnic facilities on shore, and we offer free pump out service for Cat Harbor boaters. Contact the Harbor Patrol on VHF Channel 9. It’s a half-mile walk on flat terrain to the village of Two Harbors from the dock. Isthmus Cove, Two Harbors With 257 moorings and anchorages for well over 100 vessels, Isthmus Cove is second only to Avalon Harbor in boat activity on the island. Ferries from the mainland dock at the pier in Isthmus Cove. The Two Harbors Harbor Department is based here. Shoreboat rides are available year-round, with 24 hour-a-day service in the summer and a more limited schedule in the winter. The Bannings’ held many Fourth of July celebrations here. Fourth of July Yacht Club leases the facilities on shore. Fourth of July Cove is popular amongst the boating community. Two Harbors Camping Cabins Emerald Bay The next cove west of Howland’s Landing is Emerald Bay, with 102 moorings and anchorage for five to ten boats. This cove offers a long strip of natural sandy beach that boaters can access. Corsair Yacht Club and Boy Scout Camp have landside facilities here which are private and not open to the public. Hen Rock Located just south of Long Point is Hen Rock, featuring 25 moorings and anchorage for 40, with lots of fun reefs to explore and abundant sea life, Hen Rock is one of the best snorkeling and dive sites on Catalina Island. The shoreside facilities are leased to Balboa Yacht Club. Cherry Cove Cherry Cove has 99 moorings and deep water (100+ feet) anchorages. Shoreside, there is a Boy Scout Camp. Two stands of endemic trees—the Catalina cherry tree and the ironwood— are up the canyon behind the cove. Lion’s Head, a prominent point of land on the western side of the cove’s entrance, protects vessels from the prevailing afternoon winds. White’s Landing & Moonstone Cove These areas are located past Long Point, heading east from Two Harbors. Combined, these coves have 58 moorings and anchorage for 50. White’s Landing offers one of the nicest and most expansive sandy beaches on the island. The landside facilities at Moonstone are leased to Newport Harbor Yacht Club. Located in Two Harbors village, these small cabins accommodate two people, and have a refrigerator and heater. Nearby are showers, restrooms and a cooking area shared by occupants of other cabins. Little Harbor This beautiful campground is accessible by hiking, biking, or Safari Shuttle Bus from Two Harbors or Avalon. Ranger has firewood, charcoal, and propane for purchase. Sites have picnic tables, fire ring, BBQ, chemical toilets, rinse-off showers, fresh water, and most have sunshade. Parson’s Landing / Blackjack Located seven miles from Isthmus Cove, you will find beautiful vistas, and long stretches of pristine beaches. The facility provides eleven campsites. Located on a bluff overlooking the Catalina Channel, these campsites are only a quarter mile uphill walk from the Isthmus Pier and the village of Two Harbors. All sites have picnic table, fire pit, BBQ, and sunshades. Tent cabins and equipment rentals are also available. Brisa Del Mar Located on the beach in the Two Harbors Campground, this deluxe site puts your group in the ideal spot for fishing, kayaking, and snorkeling. This campsite can accommodate a maximum of 25 people and includes a large A-Frame shade structure, charcoal grills, and toilets. Bahia Azul is a secluded group camping site that can accommodate a maximum of 25 people. This unique site offers you and your group amazing views of the Pacific Ocean, a semi private beach, and all the amenities to make your campout unforgettable. The site’s common area has a large fire pit, Howland’s Landing, the next cove west of Big Geiger, has moorings for 40 boats. Catalina Island Camp is located on shore and Los Angeles Yacht Club has shoreside facilities. The Howland’s Landing watershed is the largest on Catalina’s West End. Buttonshell is fairly small, with only seven moorings and anchorage for ten. The landside facility is leased to the Catalina Island Marine Institute Camp Fox. Camp Fox is a YMCA summer camp.
