WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES
In 2013-2014, our partners completed 865 screening
and diagnostic mammograms; and more than 436
clinical breast exams were performed; and thousands
of women received breast health education. This
resulted in at least 15 women being diagnosed who
might otherwise have not known about their illness.

becomes the key for breast cancer survival. With the help from fundraisers, volunteers, sponsors,
small businesses, scientists and physicians, Susan G. Komen’s® mission to end breast cancer
forever can be possible.
About Susan G. Komen®
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do
everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became
Susan G. Komen® and launched the global breast cancer movement. . Today, Susan
G. Komen is the world’s largest network of breast cancer survivors and activists
fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize
science to find cures. Komen has invested more than $2.5 billion to fulfill our
promise, working to end breast cancer in the U.S. and throughout the world through
ground-breaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs
in more than 30 countries. No other organization has the deep understanding
of barriers to care, and no other organization raises funds to bridge those gaps
making access available to residents of our eight county region in Central Georgia.
Supporting Our Mission - Use of Funds
Our objective is to provide maximum return to support our mission of
saving lives and ending breast cancer. Nationwide, Susan G. Komen™
spends 87% of all funds raised on education, screening and research.
Through events like the Komen Central Georgia Race for the Cure®,
Komen Central Georgia has invested over 1.8 million since 2000 for
local breast health and breast cancer education, screening and support
services in eight counties.
