ATADA: AN ORGANIZATION
FOR COLLECTORS AND DEALERS
“Santa Fe remains a Mecca of Indian art, with 40 listed members
of the Antique Tribal Arts Dealers Association…”
–The New Mexican, August 20, 2010
Welcome to Mecca! Many of those 40 ATADA members (and more than
100 more from the rest of the country, Europe and Asia) are eager to
show you the best of American Indian and tribal art this week.
Is this your first visit to Santa Fe Antique Week/Indian Market Week?
Are you looking for that one special piece that will always remind you
of this visit? ATADA dealers can guide and advise you, and can help
make your first purchase not just a souvenir, but the beginning of a
collection. Experienced collectors already know to look to ATADA
dealers for just the right piece. ATADA dealers have helped build
some of America’s most prestigious collections,
Most ATADA dealers have been buying, selling and collecting American
Indian and tribal art for decades. They know the material and they know
the law. Because of their knowledge and experience, they know what is
authentic. They offer collectors a guarantee as to provenance, title and
authenticity.

Prehistoric artifacts from the Americas
But ATADA can be more than a doorway to great art. We offer our
members, both dealers -- Full members -- and collectors -- Associate
members -- an opportunity to purchase members-only group property
insurance at a discounted rate. Many members say that the savings more
than pay for the cost of membership.

All ATADA members receive the quarterly ATADA News. Along with
profiles of our dealer and collector members in each issue, the ATADA
News features stories on the most up-to-date legal aspects of buying,
selling, and collecting Native American and tribal art; excerpts from
relevant newspaper and magazine stories; calendar listings and reviews
of museum and gallery exhibits; and news and activities of the organization. Old issues of the ATADA News are archived at atada.org.

Offering Pre-Columbian & Prehistoric artifacts
from the Americas. Appealing to those collectors for
whom ordinary is unacceptable.
An illustrated Directory that is Who’s Who of the trade can be found
on the opening page at atada.org. The website also features a Theft
Alert page which has been responsible for recovery of many stolen
pieces and even whole collections; an event and exhibit calendar; a
large page on Art and the Law; a Caveat Emptor page focused on up-todate warnings about fakes on the market; and more.
Our Goal
We aim to offer a thoughtfully edited selection of
mankind’s most exquisite treasures, from the ancients.
Our artifacts include dazzling Pre-Columbian
and Prehistoric Southwestern pottery.
If something exceptional captures our attention,
we will present it at The Genius of Man
for your perusal and potential purchase.
ATADA’s members are dealers, collectors
and museum curators who are passionate about American Indian and tribal
art. Collect with the confidence that
only a guarantee can offer and share
our passion.

WELCOME TO THE 2011 SHOWS!
Whitehawk Antique Shows provide a unique opportunity for fine-quality dealers
and world-class collectors to come together. Whitehawk produces two antique art
shows in August of every year with over 250 dealers participating and we appreciate
your support of the shows!
28th Annual Antique Ethnographic Art Show – August 11-13, 2011
Over 125 dealers featuring Oceanic, Pre-Columbian, Spanish Colonial African,
Oriental, Indonesian and other ethnographic art from around the world. Furniture,
rugs, paintings, furniture, jewelry, religious reliquites, baskets, textiles, and much more.
33rd Annual Antique Indian Art Show – August 14-16, 2011
Whitehawk’s original show, the Antique Indian Art Show celebrates its 33rd year.
Antique Indian art objects ranging from Northwest Coast masks to Southwestern
pottery, jewelry and textiles, California baskets, Plains beadwork of all types and
artifacts from the Southwestern, Great Lakes and Woodland tribes are all here. It
is the oldest and largest show in the country for historic Native American material
with over 125 dealers.
Each show has a gala preview party which includes a lavish buffet and wine the
evening before the general admission opening. It’s a dress-up and be-seen event and
is literally standing room only as collectors elbow their way in (politely, of course!) to
be the first to see the fine offerings of Whitehawk’s world-class exhibitors. So, put on
your finest Santa Fe Style outfit, grab a glass of wine and enjoy the show.
Hundreds wait patiently for the doors to open for general admission. Our collectors
have come to “expect the unexpected” and are always pleased by the offerings. The
dealers are thrilled and their biggest problem is finding replacement merchandise for
items sold!
