It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us at the “1st Asian Paediatric Pulmonology Society
Annual Scientific Congress” cum “18th Hong Kong Society of Paediatric Respirology and Allergy
Annual Scientific Meeting” which will be held on 3-5 October 2015 in Hong Kong and Macao. The
meeting will provide a strong scientific programme, enjoyable social activities, and importantly an
opportunity to exchange and compare professional practice.
The organizing committee will organize a most comprehensive and exciting programme that will be
interesting and relevant to specialist, general practitioners and allied-health professionals alike. A
variety of programmes and learning modes will be offered. The programme addresses scientific and
clinical topics, in additional to relevant topics on professional issues. Our international and regional
speakers represent the forefront of practice in their special interests, and will update you on the best
current practice.
The organizing committee is working very hard to put together a truly memorable meeting in October.

the love birds and shutterbugs on the promenade, your
gaze will be drawn south to the dramatic topographical
and architectural spectacle that is the Hong Kong Island
skyline towering over the busy waters of Victoria
Harbour.

Having ascended to the Tower's
upper limits in high-speed glassfronted lifts, an unforgettable vista
awaits you, while a delicious buffet
caters for all tastes at the 360°
Café. The Tower is 338m high at its highest point. The
Tower was designed principally by Gordon Moller of
CCMBECA, New Zealand.
Ruins of St. Paul’s
Jade has been long associated with
long life and good health in Chinese
culture, making it a prized material
for good-luck charms. Few Hong
Kong newborns will be left to start
life without a jade bracelet from
grandma, and people of all ages
receive new amulets each year based on their zodiac
signs and computations of the ancient Chinese almanac.
In Hong Kong, the jade business is most active at the
Jade Market in Kowloon. While there’s been a lot of
redevelopment in the area in recent years, some vestiges
of its past have been saved, such as the colonial-era police
station. Nearby, a three-tonne jade stone marks the strip of
Canton Road known as Jade Street. However, if shopping
takes your fancy over architecture and monuments, you
won’t be disappointed with the quality and quantity of
jade being sold by the more than hundreds of stalls here.
Arguably Macau’s most famous
landmark, the Ruins of St. Paul’s
was officially listed in 2005 as part
of the UNESCO World Heritage
site, the Historic Centre of Macau.
Originally built in the 16th century,
the complex of St. Paul’s College
and the Cathedral of St. Paul burned down and was
rebuilt multiple times before the third and final fire during
a typhoon in 1835 left it beyond repair. All that remains
are the iconic stone façade and the grand staircase leading
up to it. Restored into a museum, the façade is buttressed
from behind, allowing tourists to climb up to the windows
to get a closer look at the stone carvings and to enjoy a
panoramic view of the city below. The Museum of Sacred
Art and Crypt was built at the bottom of the ruins and
houses many religious artifacts including Sino-Portuguese
crucifixes, as well as a 17th century painting of St.
Michael Archangel – the only surviving work from the
original college.

have already laid out their wares
and the opera singers and fortune
tellers begin to emerge. Welcome
to the Temple Street Night Market,
a popular street bazaar, named after
a Tin Hau temple located in the
centre of its main drag, and a place
so steeped in local atmosphere that it has served as the
backdrop to many a memorable movie. Trinkets, tea ware,
electronics, watches, menswear, jade and antiques are
scrutinised and haggled over, while claypot rice, seafood,
noodles and other treats are consumed with gusto.

With over 100 stalls of bargain
clothing, accessories and souvenirs,
the Ladies’ Market on Tung Choi
Street provides a one-kilometre
stretch on which to practise your
haggling skills. It gets its name from
the huge amount of clothing and accessories on sale for
women of all ages; however, with watches, cosmetics,
bags, home furnishings, CDs and trinkets also up for
grabs, you don’t need to be just in the market for a pair
of nylon stockings to find something within its crowded
aisles.

ride down the canals of Venice inside
the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.

Kwun Ya Kai – Taipa
Taipa is famous for an array of
traditional desserts and snacks,
including wife cakes, meat pastries,
chicken biscuits and fermented red
bean curd biscuits. In the old town
of Taipa, many cake shops have
been run for several generations. On
Kwun Ya Kai (Rua do Cunha), you will be tempted by
the smell of newly baked cakes and biscuits wafting out
of the cake shops. Many local cake shops sell a variety of
delicious desserts and cakes, which are much sought-after
by tourists as souvenirs typical of Macao. Moreover, there
are the famous Portuguese-style egg tarts, which are sold
in most cafes and cake shops.
