Scientific Name: Olneya tesota Common Name: Desert Ironwood Size: 15-30’ tall x 15-30’ wide Deciduous / Evergreen: Evergreen Leaves / Flowers: Small gray green leaves. Pinkish lavender flowers in late spring. Exposure: Full sun Water: Little or no water to moderate water Origin: Southwest United States Sonoran Desert Sunset Zones: 8, 9, 11-14, 18-23 Maintenance: Prune excessive lower branch growth into a single trunk form. Large quantities of flower and seed pod drop. Comments: Small tree with a slow growth rate. Usually found in desert washes. Tallest tree in the Sonoran Desert.
