Constitution for the Bates Fishing Club Article I. Club Name The name of this organization shall be the Bates Fishing Club Article II. Purpose The purpose of this club is to promote the enjoyment of fishing to all interested. To serve as a medium through which fellow fishermen can discuss fishing, acquire information about the sport, and plan fishing endeavors. The main focus will be to organize fishing activities throughout the northeast. Article III. Membership Attendance of at least one meeting per month as well as attendance at two club-sponsored events is required for membership. Membership entities you to one vote at club meetings and preference over non-members in club-sponsored services and activities. All members of the Bates community are welcome to club events and meetings. Article IV. Officers Bassmasters (Co-Presidents): In charge of calling and running monthly meetings, setting club agenda, and provides leadership. Plans and coordinates excursions (unless he/she will not be partaking in them, in which case responsibility will be passed to another member). Master Lure and Baiter (Equipment and Gear): Keeps track of club equipment, responsible for readying supplies for fishing trips. The Holy Mackerel (Treasurer): In charge of the budget and all monetary issues. God of Cod (Secretary): In charge of keeping attendance at meetings as well as informing community about club events. Chief of Onshore Operations (Social coordinator): In charge of planning social events not relating to fishing. Officer succession: To be an officer, membership for one year is required (except during first year of club operation). Officers serve a one-year term, but can be reelected unlimited number of times. If an officer cannot fulfil the requirements associated with that position or their performance is deemed unsatisfactory by 2/3 of members by an anonymous vote, he/she will step down from office. Elections for officers will be held in April of each year unless a position becomes vacant over the year, in which case new elections will be held at the next meeting. A nomination by another member is required to run for office. For the election of officers, only a majority is required. Article V. Meetings Meetings will occur on a bimonthly basis plus whenever the president calls a meeting. All decisions made by the club will be decided by a vote, including money allocation and trip destinations. A 2/3 majority is required for all decisions, and members need not be present at a particular meeting to cast their vote. At least 50% of members must vote in any decision.
