The workshop is focused on how to build a healthy brand – “Brand Aerobics” – presented by Dave Derby of Derby Marketing and Kristie VanAuken, Director Marketing & Communications for the Akron Canton Airport. Continued Dave is an enthusiastic, open-minded creative leader with a real passion for discovering what is truly inventive and a variety of fortune 500 companies have benefited from Dave’s breakthrough concepts, including General Motors, Proctor and Gamble, Anheuser Busch and General Mills. You’ll walk away with these gems: •Define your goals •Tighten your strategy •Shape your message! •Key strengths each of us can apply immediately to our businesses. Learn how the Akron Canton Airport built its strong brand! More important, though, than the respect Dave Derby his work has garnered, are the results his President & Creative work has created: A consumer campaign Director for Rubbermaid produced a 30% spike in Derby Band Advertising sales for the advertised products. An ad program for Dirt Devil increased their sales by 44%, propelling them past Eureka to capture the #2 position in the category. An integrated, repositioning campaign for the Akron-Canton Airport, contributed to the highest passenger traffic in its 40 year history. Kristie joined the airport staff in 1996. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas and a Masters of Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Her major responsibilities include all airport marketing, communications and air service development initiatives. Under her leadership, the airport has tripled airport passengers and nonstop routes. Additionally, the airport’s TV commercials featuring “punch dummy” won best of show at the Akron Addys in 2005. Most recently, Dave’s creative leadership and brand building expertise has produced dramatic results for University Hospitals Health System/Geauga Medical Center, Prudential DeHoff Realtors, Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association and St.Mary’s Health System. Prior to joining the airport, Kristie worked for the Greater Akron Chamber and the State of Michigan, International Affairs division. Kristie was selected as a 2008 Distinguished sales and Marketing professional by Sales and Marketing Executives of Cleveland; received a Distinguished sales and Marketing Award (DSMA) by Sales & Marketing Executives International of Akron and was selected as one of 30 for the Future, recognizing today’s young leaders in Northeastern Ohio; and Crain’s Cleveland Business included Kristie in their 40 Under 40 list of upcoming executives in Northeast Ohio in 2005 COST: Members: $40 Workshop, Dinner & Keynote; $30 Dinner & Keynote only; $15 Workshop only Non-members: $70 Workshop, Dinner & Keynote; $45 Dinner & Keynote only; $30 Workshop Only REGISTER ONLINE AT www.smeakron.com or RSVP to Sue Warren by replying to this email or call the SMEI office at 330-945-7740 by noon September 8th.
