South Sudan Safari is a radio series of Gurtong
Trust- Peace project. The radio programs started
in 2008 production of pilot radio programmes
with 100% local content on mostly issues of
peace, culture, health, education and gender.
The programs are produced in both English and
Juba Arabic.
The programs are broadcast through a number of
State owned and community FM stations. It’s our
target to expand to all ten states of South Sudan
as well as translate the programs into common
ethnic languages used in South Sudan

Initially
focussing
on
the
peace
initiatives in Jonglei State working with the
local chiefs, the project has evolved to include the
greater South Sudan.

Gurtong Trust - Peace and Media Project is an
independent,
not-for-profit,
community-based
project, which aims at removing all ethnic,
political or personal obstacles on the way to
unity, peace and mutual respect among South
Sudanese.
Objectives
1. Facilitate and encourage dialogue through
constructive discussions on issues of conflict; to
restore hope and confidence among South
Sudanese .
2. Encourage
participation
of
younger
generations in all aspects of
nation
building, peace and reconciliation by using the
Internet (website) and social media as a tool
to engage their interest .
3. Establish a South Sudanese coalition through
network linkage in the spirit of
reconciliation and promotion of peace and
stability .
4. Provide a non-partisan information platform
on cultural, social, political, humanitarian
and peace and reconciliation issues
concerning South Sudan.
5. Provide
an
information
resource
facility on South Sudan through collection,
documentation and reporting news of
movement
of
people
and
activities around them as well as news
of peace initiatives, relief and any
development activities, cultural history and
heritage.
