Although it is too early to put an exact time line
on this action plan, the Board hopes to have a
handle on this amenities review by the end of
the year. The Board believes that any projects to
come out of this review could be funded on a
long-term basis by the membership.
Kent Blair
he officers of your Country Club
have had a busy, but productive,
summer. We, along with the
Executive Committee of the POA,
served as the Search Committee to
find a replacement for Chip. This
body hired Kurt Kuebler of Kopplin & Kuebler,
an executive search firm specializing in the
Florida private club market, to assist us. Kurt
did an outstanding job, which culminated in the
unanimous selection of William Langley as our
new General Manager/Chief Operating Officer.
Bill is an experienced professional who has
hit the ground running. He has already been
on campus several times to meet with all the
department heads and their staffs. Bill has sat
in on numerous budget and master planning
meetings and will start “officially” on September
3. We are excited about his arrival, and I know
that each of you will give Bill and his wife, Susan,
a warm welcome when you meet them.
As mentioned in my May letter, Peacock+Lewis
has been selected to serve as the Club’s Master
Planning firm. This organization, which is locally
based, will use our strategic plan to develop
an action plan to achieve our goals. The first
step in this process was to hire the engineering
consulting firm RDG Associates Inc. to evaluate
the Club’s existing core amenities, primarily the
Clubhouse, the Fitness Center and the Tennis
Complex, to determine whether or not they
meet our members’ needs. This evaluation was
concluded in July, and the data are being
reviewed by Peacock+Lewis and Quail’s Master
Planning Committee.
Bill Sandholm, the Coordinator of this committee,
has announced that the following members of
Quail will serve with him: Ben Benedetti, Ruth
Carson, Kevin Hammer, Gerry Leider, Catherine
McLoud and Marie-Josee St. Jacques. Barry Cook
and I will serve as “ex officio” members. In early
August, Peacock+Lewis made arrangements for
this committee to visit several local clubs that
had recently updated their amenities. These visits
will be helpful in our efforts to determine what
steps need to be taken at Quail to ensure the
satisfaction of our current and future members.
A Master Planning Finance Committee has
also been formed to explore the Club’s options
for funding any projects that might come out of
these amenities evaluations. This two-person
committee will be co-chaired by the Treasurers

Jim Hengel, our agronomist, and his crew are
in the midst of replacing the sand in the north
course green-side bunkers. This project should be
completed by early fall, well before we snow birds
return. Speaking of golf, our summer season has
been very active this year. We hosted a USGA
Women’s Amateur Qualifier event, the FSGA
Senior Amateur Championship and the Palm
Beach County Amateur Championship. The
Club received many letters from the participants
raving about the conditions of our courses and the
staff operation. Kudos to Jim Hengel and Charlie
Bowie. I’ve been on campus twice this summer
and can attest to how well the courses and all of
Quail Ridge look.
Finally, the officers of the Club want to thank
Andy Transleau for taking on the added
responsibilities of Acting General Manager
since Chip’s departure. Although his tenure was
relatively brief, he did an outstanding job.
See you soon.

he POA has had a busy summer.
The officers participated in
the selection of Bill Langley who
has extensive experience in POA
activities. We welcome Bill to Quail
Ridge and look forward to his
guidance over the coming years.
Although most of us are not at Quail Ridge during
the summer months, the employees of the POA
have been very busy.
The Quail Ridge Rental Program is being
administrated by Sandra Howard, and we are
very busy with bookings for the coming season. I
encourage you and your friends to call with their
preferred dates. The Christmas week only has

a few units available and we expect the other
holidays to be reserved early.
General Maintenance has had five pool
renovations and five area painting projects in
addition to their normal improvements and
repairs for individual members.
Please call Sathena or send in your flower order
soon so we will have the plants in place by the
time you return.
Our new Landscape Operations Manager, Ken
Finucan, has made a significant impact in a
short period of time and you will see a noticeable
improvement in grass and turf quality.
Mary Lou wanted me to remind all of you, with
security systems, that Devcon has been bought
out by ADT. You should have been contacted by
ADT, but if not, let Eric Price know.
Real Estate sales are at 54 and we are
experiencing the normal inquiries for this time of
year.
I have been back each month and see the hard
work the POA employees do to improve the
community for the members. When you see them,
take a minute to let them know you appreciate
their efforts.
See you soon, Barry
General Manager’s Report
by Andrew J. Transleau
Acting General Manager
D
ear Friends,
Let me begin my first newsletter
article by thanking the
Coordinating Committee for the
confidence that they have placed
in me by allowing me to become
your new General Manager/Chief
Operating Officer. Every member
and staff associate that I have
met in this process over the last 4-6 weeks have
been some of the nicest folks that I have ever
met.
You may wonder why I start my newsletter
with the term “Friends” when I have met so
few of you. I choose to use that term because
that is how I lead my life. I believe that people
I have yet to meet are all future friends. I also
believe that it signifies our responsibility as a
management team to be as open and friendly as
possible in our interactions every day with our
members.
It has been a whirlwind of activity since
I joined the Club. While I do not officially
begin full time until late August, you should
know that I have made several trips to Quail
to participate in Planning, Budget, Finance
and other committee meetings to get me up
to speed. I have been duly impressed by the
commitment from the members on those
committees who are giving so freely of their
time for the betterment of Quail Ridge. I
have also been very impressed with the
professional manner in which the management
team approaches their role as partners with
the members in making our community as
successful as possible.
I
t has been a busy summer at Quail Ridge.
Participation in the Club Summer Program
has been spectacular. Additionally, there are a
number of projects underway that are keeping
the staff busy, including approximately 190
electrical panels being replaced, painting and
spalling repairs in a couple of Areas, as well
as the normal maintenance accomplished each
summer.
In closing, I look forward to meeting many
of you as you begin to return to Quail Ridge
this fall. I plan to fully embrace our motto of
“Everything Matters” and we will make sure
that all of our seasonal employees are hired
with an attitude of gratitude. Thank you again
for the opportunity to partner with your elected
Boards and committees to protect, grow and
enhance the Quail Ridge brand.
We are holding down the fort as we look forward
to the arrival of the new General Manager/COO,
Bill Langley, who we expect to arrive about the
same time you receive this newsletter, and who
will be on board full time after Labor Day. Bill
provided the following message as his “early”
introduction to Quail Ridge:
With warm regards,
William E. Langley, CCM
General Manager/Chief Operating Officer

TIPS
If you had your Comcast Service placed on
“Seasonal Hold” while you were away during
the summer months and you unplugged your
Comcast equipment, here are some helpful tips to
get your service working:
• Reconnect all Comcast equipment and plug in
to electrical outlet, making sure the outlet is
not a switched outlet.
• Wait 30 minutes for your Comcast equipment
to download all necessary updates.
• Make sure all TV’s that are connected to
Comcast Cable boxes are on channel 3 and on
the correct input.
• Any TV’s that are not connected to a Cable
box you should do an Auto Program. (Note:
if this is a new digital or HD TV the auto
program must be done for Digital and Analog).
• Comcast internet will come up as well within
the 30 minutes after updating has taken
place.
If you encounter any problems please call
Comcast Call Center at 1-800-266-2278, make
sure you tell them that you were away and that
your Comcast equipment was unplugged while
you were gone.
Comcast should be able to remotely send a signal
to your Comcast equipment. If the problem is not
solved, you can request a technician for a service
call.
In the future, it is recommended NOT to unplug
cable boxes during a leave of absence, so the
periodic updates can be downloaded to the devices
automatically.

Men’s Golf Association News
All QR Men’s Golfers Now
Members of The MGA
Starting in November, all Quail Ridge men golfers
will automatically become members of the Men’s
Golf Association. Membership in the Men’s Golf
Association will be a requirement for competing
in the three major men’s golf tournaments at
Quail Ridge. Those events are: Men’s Stroke Play
Championship, Men’s Match Play Championship
and the Member-Member Team Championship. You
may always make the decision to opt out if desired.
This process will now be the same as the Men’s Golf
Association Hole-In-One Club.
The fee to belong to the Men’s Golf Association is
$80, annually. Included in this fee is an Opening
and Closing Day dinner and weekly prize winnings.
This fee also provides funds ear marked to help
underwrite some of the expenses to some major
events. This will be in an effort to help elevate the
Member/Member Team Championship, the Midseason Mixer and a few other events. This change
will help us increase payouts as well as elevate the
quality of some of the major events.
This change in policy was approved by the Golf
Committee and Country Club Board.
We look forward to a successful 2013-2014
golf season.
Attention Members of 9 & 18 Hole
Ladies’ Golf Associations
If you were a member of the Association
in 2012-2013, your 2013-2014 membership dues will
