Networks Border Switch (NBS9000) Configuration Guide provides details to connect AT&T IP Flexible Reach service using AVPN or MIS/PNT transport. NBS9000 is a Session Border Controller (SBC) that connects disparate SIP trunks, SIP PBXs, and communication applications within an enterprise. It can also be used as a SIP routing and integration engine. NBS9000 is the point of connection between Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and AT&T IP Flexible Reach service. It is also used to secure the SIP trunk and to make adjustments to carrier and enterprise signaling for interoperability. 1.1 Special Notes 1.1.1 G.711 Fax Calls known issues Cisco CUCM 8.5 does not support the protocol negotiation AT&T requires for performing G.711 fax calls. However, it supports T.38 fax calls, Group 3, and Super Group 3 fax calls. 1.1.2 Emergency 911/E911 Services Limitations and Restrictions AT&T provides 911/E911 calling capabilities, but it does not warrant that the equipment and software, for example, IP PBX, reviewed in the Customer Configuration Guide will operate with AT&T IP Flexible Reach to complete 911/E911 calls. Hence, Customer is recommended to ensure the performance of equipment/software with its vendor. AT&T IP Flexible Reach services support 911/E911 calling capabilities under certain Calling Plans. Following are the circumstances when the AT&T IP Flexible Reach services are unavailable. • Relocation of the end user's CPE • Use of a non-native or virtual telephone number • Broadband connection failure • Electrical power loss • Delay in updating Customer location details in the automatic location information database Scenarios when these services are unavailable are stated in the Service Guide for AT&T IP Flexible Reach located at http://new.serviceguide.att.com/. Refer AT&T IP Flexible Reach Service Guide for understanding the limitations and restrictions. Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 5 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide 1.2 Network Topology The Cisco IP Phones used with the CUCM can be configured to work with Skinny or SIP Protocol. Note: This guide supports NBS9000 configurations for NBS9000 releases V08.04.00 A015 and PSX release V08.04.00 A004. 1.2.1 Cisco Unified Communications Manager The Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) version is 8.5. This document can also be associated with the Cisco CUCM version 8.6 available on the Cisco Interoperability Portal. For more details, see CUCM configuration. Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 6 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide 1.2.2 Network Diagram with IP details and basic call flow diagram Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 7 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide The ladder diagram explains a Call Manager originated call to the AT&T FlexReach Application. Dialogs up to AT&T border element are displayed in this diagram. The two NBS elements displayed here are interfaces on the same NBS. 2 NBS9000 Configuration The following NBS configuration is required for supporting the Cisco Call Manager on the trusted side with a redundant connection to the AT&T IP Flexible Reach on the un-trusted side. Redundancy entails two SIP destinations in the AT&T network to support the service. All cards in NBS are fully redundant and hot-swappable. There are three trunk groups defined, ATT_IPFR_1_TG, ATT_IPFR_2_TG, and CUCM_TG Trunk Group ATT_IPFR_1_TG represents the primary NBS connection to the AT&T IP Flexible Reach Service. ATT_IPFR_2_TG represents the secondary NBS connection to the AT&T IP Flexible Reach Service. NBS attempts to connect with the primary IP Trunk and if it is unreachable, it tries to connect to the secondary IP Trunk. Trunk Group CUCM_TG is used by NBS to complete sessions to the Cisco Call Manager. For each Trunk Group the following NBS Configuration is required. • Network Selector Table • Trunk Group • Signaling Zone* • NIF Group* • Media Zone* • Media NIF Group* • SIP Service Group • Address Reachability Profile* Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 8 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide Network Selector Table: NBS uses this database to determine the IP trunk group that receives a call. Trunk Group:PSX routes call to this trunk group. Signaling Zone: This Signaling Zone is used for SIP Signaling traffic to and from an IP Trunk Group. It defines Transport protocols for SIP. SIP Signaling Port: The logical port on which the NBS sends and listens to SIP signaling packets. NIF Group: The interface used for SIP signaling traffic on an IP Trunk Group. Media Zone: The Media Zone to be used for RTP traffic on an IP Trunk Group. This defines Transport protocols for RTP. Media NIF Group:The interface used for RTP traffic on the particular IP Trunk Group. SIP Service Group: The object that binds a SIP service to an IP Trunk Group and assigns the name and properties to the binding. Address Reachability: NBS is configured with the Address Reachability Feature on un-trusted Public Interfaces. The time out limit period for a SIP message on Trunk is 5 times in 5 minutes. When a SIP message times out on the Trunk, NBS identifies the SIP endpoint and sets this Trunk unavailable to support calls. NBS then sends SIP OPTIONS until it responds. When NBS receives a configurable number of successful responses to OPTIONS, one in this case, the SIP endpoint is placed back in service. * Configuration reused by Un-trusted Trunk Groups, ATT_IPFR_1_TG and ATT_IPFR_2_TG. 2.1.1 NBS9000 Basic Configuration 2.1.1.1 Node name and Node location configuration in NBS9000 CLI Configuration Commands CONFIGURE NODE NAME IOTGSX1 CONFIGURE NODE LOCATION BANGALORE 2.1.1.2 Creating andConfiguring NTP server in NBS9000 CLI Configuration Commands CREATE NTP SERVER NTP1 CONFIGURE NTP SERVER NTP1 IPADDRESS 10.54.18.110 CONFIGURE NTP SERVER NTP1 STATE ENABLED 2.1.1.3 Configuring PNS (Packet Network Server) Card in NBS9000 CLI Configuration Commands CREATE SERVER SHELF 1 SLOT 4 HWTYPE PNS40 ADAPTER pna45 NORMAL CONFIGURE SERVER SHELF 1 SLOT 4 MODE INSERVICE CONFIGURE SERVER SHELF 1 SLOT 4 STATE ENABLED 2.1.1.4 Enabling Logical Signaling andPacket-to-Packet state in NBS9000 CLI Configuration Commands CONFIGURE PACKET_TO_PACKET STATE ENABLED CONFIGURE LOGICAL SIGNALING ADDRESS BINDING STATE ENABLED 2.1.1.5 Creating and Configuring Sonus Softswitch (PSX) in NBS9000 CLI Configuration Commands CREATE SONUS SOFTSWITCH IOTPSX1 CONFIGURE SONUS SOFTSWITCH IOTPSX1 IPADDRESS 10.54.18.173 CONFIGURE SONUS SOFTSWITCH IOTPSX1 MODE ACTIVE CONFIGURE SONUS SOFTSWITCH IOTPSX1 STATE ENABLED 2.1.1.6 Enabling Telnet andbinaryfile mode parameter in NBS9000 CLI Configuration Commands CONFIGURE NODE TELNET CLI ENABLED CONFIGURE NODE NVS SHELF 1 PARAMETER MODE BINARYFILE Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 9 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide 2.1.1.7 Configuring Base RTP port in NBS9000 CLI Configuration Commands SHOW RTP PORT BASE ADMIN CONFIGURE RTP PORT BASE 16384 2.2 Address Reachability Profile 2.2.1Creating and Configuring Address Reachability Profile in NBS9000 CLI Configuration Commands CREATE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP CONFIGURE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP ALGORITHM TIMEOUTS CONFIGURE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP TIMEOUTS ALGORITHM TYPE SIP-INVITE CONFIGURE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP TIMEOUTS ALGORITHM NUMBER OF TIMEOUTS 5 CONFIGURE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP TIMEOUTS ALGORITHM DURATION 600 CONFIGURE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP ALGORITHM PROBE CONFIGURE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP ALGORITHM PROBE ALGORITHM METHOD SIP-OPTIONS CONFIGURE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP ALGORITHM PROBE ALGORITHM DURATION 1 CONFIGURE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP ALGORITHM PROBE ALGORITHM INTERVAL 1 CONFIGURE ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP ALGORITHM PROBE ALGORITHM NUMBER OF RESPONSES 1 BLACKLISTING BLACKLISTING BLACKLISTING BLACKLISTING RECOVERY RECOVERY RECOVERY RECOVERY RECOVERY SHOW ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP ADMIN % SHOW ADDRESS REACHABILITY SERVICE PROFILE ATT_IPFR_ARSP ADMIN Node: IOTGSX1 Date: 2012/02/08 02:48:40 GMT Zone: GMTMINUS05-EASTERN-US ------------------------------------------------------------------------Address Reachability Service Profile : ATT_IPFR_ARSP ------------------------------------------------------------------------Admin State : DISABLED Blacklisting Algorithm : TIMEOUTS ------------------------------------------------TIMEOUTS Blacklisting Algorithm Type : SIP-INVITE Number of Timeouts : 5 Duration : 600 Recovery Algorithm : PROBE Method : SIP-OPTIONS Interval : 1 Number of Responses: 1 Duration : 1 % Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 10 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide 2.3SIP Adaptor Profile Configuration 2.3.1 RMV-PCMU-FROM-RESPONSE The rules are as follows: • Applied on outputAdaptorProfile of SIP Service associated to CUCM network. • Shall remove PCMU payload type and corresponding attribute from the Answer exchanged with CUCM. • This SIP Adaptor Profile, RMV-PCMU-FROM-RESPONSE, is always enabled. This guide is available online at “CISCO INTEROPERABILITY PORTAL” for “Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) / SIP Trunking Solutions” at the following location: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/solutions/collateral/ns340/ns414/ns728/ns833/1001797.pdf Following are the differences in the configuration as compared to those used in the CUCM 8.5 configuration guide provided above. Regions In the Cisco CUCM 8.5 guide (Page 20 of 125 –to- Page 23 of 125) three regions are configured as shown in the section “CISCO UCM Regions” CISCO UCM Regions: Fig (1 of 2) Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 91 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide CISCO UCM Regions: Fig (2 of 2) The Device Pools associated with the above 3 regions are reduced to 1 Device Pool, as shown below. The Default Device Pool described in the CUCM 8.5 Configuration guide remains the same as the Default Device Pool used with NBS5200. Device Pool (List): Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 92 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide SIP Trunk to NBS5200 The configuration for SIP Trunk to the NBS5200 from the CUCM 8.5 would remain the same as documented in the CUCM guide (Page 69 of 125), except for Device Pool Association. Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 93 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide SIP Profile Configuration The configuration for SIP Profile to NBS5200 from the CUCM 8.5 would remain the same as documented in the CUCM guide, except for the modification for “Early Offer Support for Voice and Video calls” (page 82 of 125) as follows. Sonus Networks, 2012 Page 94 NBS9000 and PSX Configuration Guide 5 Troubleshooting Call traces can be gathered on an individual call by call basis. This is enabled by creating a Call Trace Filter on the NBS. When the filter is defined, a calling and called number can be entered to capture a single call. This data is viewed in the EMS with the Call Trace screen within the Tools major screen. Assistance for troubleshooting can be obtained by calling the Sonus TAC center at 1-888-391-3434.
