Prostřední Bečva – Pustevny
Pustevny – a mountaintop resort with two newly reconstructed mountain chalets in the distinctive ornate style of the famous architect Dušan
Jurkovič, known as Maměnka and Libušín. Libušín is a typical local-style
restaurant, and Maměnka has been converted into a comfortable hotel.
Pustevny is accessible by road; turn off the international highway (leading
from Rožnov to Slovakia) in the village of Prostřední Bečva. The peak can
also be reached by bus from Rožnov, by chair lift from Trojanovice, or on
foot by one of the marked hiking trails. Pustevny is the starting point for
two newly completed tourist
trails with information panels
– one leading to the summit
of Radhošť mountain, and
the other leading through
forested terrain to Martiňák
near Horní Bečva.

Statue of Radegast
This statue of the pagan god Radegast is located
1.5 km from Pustevny on the path leading to the
summit of Radhošť mountain. The original statue by
the architect Albín Polášek is displayed at the museum in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm; a copy has occupied
the mountain ridge site since 1998.

Radhošť
Radhošť (1129 metres above sea level) is the best-known mountain in
Wallachia and is shrouded in myths and
legends. On the summit is the Chapel of
Saints Cyril and Methodius, built in 1896
and featuring statues of these two early
Slavic Christian missionaries. Inside the
mountain is a network of underground
passages and sandstone caves reaching
lengths of several hundred metres.

Skialpin Pustevny ski resort
Skialpin Pustevny is one of the largest ski
centres in the Beskydy mountains. Winter
sports enthusiasts can enjoy 10 downhill runs
offering varying levels of difficulty. The resort

The Horní Bečva reservoir is a popular
venue for summer-time recreation.

Hutisko-Solanec
Hutisko-Solanec is a village in the Wallachian foothills set amid a picturesque landscape
and offering beautiful walks along marked hiking trails. Among the village’s places of
interest are a monument to Charlotte Garrigue Masaryk, the wife of the first Czechoslovak
president, and a typical local-style inn situated in a historical wooden building dating back

The village of Vigantice is best known for its footballers, having produced two Czech
internationals: Milan Baroš and René Bolf. In addition to its well-appointed sports
centre, Vigantice also offers hiking facilities and an open-air swimming pool.

Valašská Bystřice
The large village of Valašská Bystřice is an ideal location for hiking and
winter sports. It is the starting point of several marked hiking paths, one
of which leads through beautiful open countryside offering panoramic
views, past the traditional Na Dílech inn, ending up the town of Rožnov
pod Radhoštěm. In winter, skiing enthusiasts will enjoy the many wellmaintained cross-country skiing tracks and the downhill runs at the

Vidče
The village of Vidče will delight lovers of religious architecture. The imposing church
of Saints Cyril and Methodius represents a high-quality example of neo-Gothic
architecture and has recently been renovated. The village also has a wooden belfry

Sůkenická viewing tower
Near the border crossing into Slovakia at Bumbálka, on the summit of Čarták (952 metres
above sea level), is the Sůkenická viewing tower, opened in 1998. The tower is 28 metres
high and in clear weather offers splendid views of the Beskydy mountains, the Javorníky
hills, the Vsetín hills and the Malá Fatra mountains in Slovakia. Information on opening

The ridge of Soláň in the Vsetín hills is one of the most beautiful parts of Wallachia. The
magnificent local landscape is complemented by a thriving folk arts and crafts scene.
The newest building on Soláň is the beautiful Zvonice Soláň information centre, which
houses a permanent exhibition of Wallachian arts and crafts and is a venue for a wide
variety of cultural events. At weekends, you can also visit the gallery at the U Hofmanů
Wallachian Studio, with a range of art and craft items for sale. Soláň offers ample
accommodation and is the starting point for several hiking or cycle routes to Horní
Bečva, Bumbálka, Velké Karlovice and the summit of Tanečnica mountain.

Rožnov pod Radhoštěm – Hradisko – tourist trail
Hradisko – a ruined castle built in the second half of the 14th century. A threepart tourist trail with information boards leads around the castle and the hill,
offering superb views of the town.

The town of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm has
two important churches:
All Saints’ Church – a baroque church dating
from 1745–1754, with a beautiful interior
and (outdoors) stations of the cross in the
Viennese Secession (Art Nouveau) style.
Lutheran Prayer Hall – a wooden structure
by the architect B. Bareš, built in 1953. The
prayer hall is used for funerals, church services and cultural events.

The Water Mill Valley is the most recently opened part of the
museum (1982) and displays a collection of technical buildings – a water mill, a wool mill, a sawmill and a hammer
mill.

The Wallachian Village is the largest part of the museum and
was opened in 1972. It shows farm buildings, shepherds’
huts, a mill and cottages, set in a landscape typical of the villages in the foothills of the Beskydy mountains.

The Wallachian Open-Air Museum is the main tourist attraction of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm.
The museum consists of three parts:
The Little Wooden Town – the oldest part of the museum,
opened in 1925. Visitors can see a collection of wooden
buildings representing examples of the local Wallachian folk
architecture, transferred from their original locations to this
parkland setting. The most imposing building on the site is
the Church of St Anne, from the village of Větřkovice.

Zubří – the home of Wallachian embroidery
The town of Zubří is closely associated with its long tradition of embroidery, examples
of which can be seen on the altar cloths in the church of St Catherine or at one of the
exhibitions at the town’s museum ‘Na Petrohradě’. Another traditional local craft is
broom-making, which can be seen at the annual broom-maker’s fair. The town of Zubří
is also famous for the outstanding achievements of its top-division handball team.
