ADVERTISING AWARDS
ADVERTISING AWARDS
Winners of the 2013 DTC National Advertising Awards were revealed at the 13th annual ceremonial
dinner, sponsored by Health Monitor Network. Showcasing the best in DTC marketing and advertising,
Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were presented across thirteen categories on the second evening of the DTC
National Conference.
A
dynamic group of pharmaceutical companies and brands were honored at the much-anticipated DTC National
Advertising Awards dinner, sponsored by Health Monitor Network. Several hundred DTC Marketing executives
joined the celebrations to honor the finalists and learn who would be named the 2013 winners. Further
reflecting the advancements in patient communications and support, this year’s Awards expanded, including the new
categories of Most Innovative and Best PR Event or Program. In addition, a Brand of the Year was unveiled, which went
to Sanofi Pasteur’s Fluzone.
Two pharmaceutical companies tied – at four a piece – for earning the highest number of Ad Awards that evening:
Genentech (including three Gold awards for Tamiflu’s “Bigger Than” campaign) and Shire (including a Silver for Most
Innovative Campaign for Vyvanse’s “You Do the Rest”). Several agencies also won multiple awards – four for Draftfcb
Healthcare (two of which were for their work with Auxilium Pharmaceuticals on XIAFLEX) and three awards each
went to: Digitas Health (for ADHD & Vyvanse initiatives with Shire), GSW Worldwide (including two for Stryker’s
GetAroundKnee), and Healthwork (powered by BBDO & CDMi, for their contributions to Tamiflu’s “Bigger Than”).
“The DTC National is exciting each year for us as a celebration of the creativity and effectiveness of DTC consumer promotion,”
said Ken Freirich, President of Health Monitor Network. “As an entrepreneurial company developing creative solutions to
facilitate patient and HCP dialog, we are pleased to sponsor the awards and to recognize the many successes in the marketplace.”
The DTC National Advertising Awards are designed to recognize the teams that develop insightful and impactful
communication programs within regulatory guidelines. For the Best Branded Television and Best Branded Print
categories, winners were determined by a combination of votes from an independent expert judging panel and DTC
National delegates. The expert judging panel also selected the winners for the remaining categories. This year’s judging
panel included: Fred Church, Vice President – Commercial Strategy & Forecasting of Ipsos Healthcare; Deborah DickRath, CEO, Founder of Epic Proportions; Mark Einhorn, Vice President, Advertising and Packaging Research of Market
View Research Global; Laura Latshaw, Vice President of Lieberman Research Worldwide; Monique Levy, VP Research of
Manhattan Research; Colin Seely, VP, Copy Testing of Ipsos ASI; Jon Swallen, Chief Research Officer of Kantar Media
and Fariba Zamaniyan, Senior Vice President of TiVo Research and Analytics (TRA).
DTC Perspectives and Health Monitor Network congratulate all of the winners and finalists! The 2013 winners
– Gold, Silver and Bronze – are profiled on the following pages. (Note: The agency and brand team members were
submitted to DTC Perspectives with their initial entry to the Advertising Awards. Some job responsibilities may have
changed.)

and fit comfortably in a woman’s body. ParaGard® is commonly placed by your doctor in minutes
during a routine office visit to provide immediate pregnancy prevention for as long as you want —
2, 5, even up to 10 years. Since it is 100% hormone free, you don’t have to worry about hormonerelated side effects, such as associated weight gain, mood swings or headaches. Plus it doesn’t affect
your natural cycle. ParaGard® has been FDA approved and used by women for over 20 years.
Ask your doctor if ParaGard® is right for you.
ParaGard® is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy. Learn more about ParaGard® at paragard.com
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Do not use ParaGard® if you have a pelvic infection, get
infections easily or have certain cancers. Less than 1% of users get a serious infection called pelvic
inflammatory disease. If you have persistent pelvic or stomach pain, or if ParaGard® comes out
tell your healthcare provider. If it comes out, use back-up birth control. In rare cases, ParaGard®
may attach to or go through the uterine wall and cause other problems. Although uncommon,
pregnancy while using ParaGard® can be life threatening and may result in loss of pregnancy or
fertility. Bleeding or spotting may increase at first but should decrease in 2 to 3 months. ParaGard®
does not protect against HIV or STDs.
You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA at
