The host families will provide three meals per day and laundry service. In Madrid and Sevilla, students will stay in doubleoccupancy rooms. Disability Accommodations Students with documented disabilities who may need accommodations during their study abroad experience should discuss these needs with the program director and the Office of Disability Services at the time of application. THE PROGRAM The Spanish Studies program in Granada, Spain is an exciting six-week program for undergraduate students. This program provides students with an opportunity to improve their command of Spanish and immerse themselves in the culture of Spain. Students will attend classes at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas at the University of Granada. The program will feature many historic destinations and cultural activities.In Granada, students will visit Alhambra and Generalife, Catedral and Capilla Real and Albaicín y Sacromonte. In addition, there will be a day trip to Las Alpujarras and a cultural tour of the city. Students will spend two nights in Seville visiting Alcázar de Sevilla, Giralda, Catedral and Barrio de Santa Cruz.The four nights in Madrid will include Museo del Prado, Museo de Reina Sofía, Palacio de Oriente and Madrid de los Austrias y de los Borbones. In Córdoba, students will see Mezquita, Sinagoga and Judería (barrio judío de Córdoba). ELIGIBILITY The program is open to undergraduate students who have a minimum 2.5 GPA and have completed at least two semesters of Spanish at college level or the equivalent (SPANISH1001 and 1002). Program size is limited and participation is contingent upon acceptance by the program director. CREDITS AND COURSES Participants who successfully complete the program’s two courses will receive six semester hours of credit at Georgia State University. The credit will be in Spanish for selected 2000, 3000 or 4000 level courses. Students from other institutions should follow their institution’s regulations concerning transfer credits. COST Program cost may vary at any time according to currency fluctuations and changing travel arrangements. The program cost is tentatively set at $3,889, PLUS regular Georgia State tuition and fees. Non-resident/out-of-state students will pay in-state tuition plus a $250 fee in addition to the program cost. Price Includes • Accommodation with selected families in Granada (includes three meals a day and laundry service) • Ground transportation by bus and AVE (high-speed train) for excursions and trips • Trips, excursions and entrance fees to monuments and museums (Granada, Córdoba, Sevilla, Madrid) • Three and four star hotels in Seville and Madrid • University of Granada fees and student ID card • Access to University of Granada facilities: language lab, library, language exchange program • Health/Evacuation/Repatriation insurance Price Does NOT Include • Georgia State tuition and fees • Passport fees • Personal expenses, excess baggage charges and additional meals • Airfare* PAYMENT SCHEDULE February 5, 2015 - $250 deposit with application March 15,2015 - $2,000 payment April 15, 2015 - remaining balance (All payments are non-refundable upon receipt.) Program Deposit & Payment: Participants will pay program deposits by logging into PAWS. Please contact your Program Director to confirm that a Program Deposit Account has been established for this purpose before you attempt to make a paymentin PAWS. Program Payments and Remaining Program Balance: Other than the initial deposit, all program payments-along with the remaining balance-will be billed directly to your student account. Please refer to the Academic/Registration calendar for the tuition and fees deadline. APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 5, 2015 MANDATORY ORIENTATION: April 24, 2015 FUNDING AND SCHOLARSHIPS Georgia State students are eligible to apply for the IEF Study Abroad Scholarship/Georgia State University Foundation Scholarship and may be eligible to apply for the Global Experience Scholarship.
