SOCA Summer Is Here – Let’s Race!

August 13 will be an Extreme Cowboy
Race at Chicopee Ag Center in Gainesville,
GA. This double point race will be indoor
with big fans. There are plenty of stalls and
campsites. Make sure you get your entries
in soon, unless you want to run first! Thanks
to Mariette Tipton, Dennis Tipton and Joe
Holloway for coordinating this race!
September 10th is our next Obstacle
Challenge. This will be held at Darby Oaks
Stables in Bushnell, FL. Most of the
obstacles are in the shade! Early entries
can request where you would like to be in
the order of go. Get yours in now – Entry
forms are attached and on the website.

YOUTH RIDERS
Special thanks to the sponsors for
the August 13th EXCA Race in
Georgia:
Bernie Duncan Memorial
Educational Fund
Starting with the 2016 show season, SOCA will
award $500 to the high point youth rider at the
Obstacle Challenges and $500 to the high point
youth rider at the Extreme Cowboy Races.
The youth/horse combination must compete in all
2016 SOCA Obstacle Challenges to be eligible for
the $500 Challenge Fund Award.
The youth/horse combination must compete in all
2016 SOCA Extreme Cowboy Races to be eligible
for the $500 Race Fund Award.
The Youth must be a paid member of SOCA for the
2016 season. The same youth can win both awards
if they attend all races and challenges.

Obstacle Practice/Schooling Directory
Kick N Back Farm has got well over 50 obstacles spread out both on and off trails. Many are in the woods
and closely mimic both SOCA, as well as other trail competitions. We also have arena style obstacles. We
have everything from the "scary" horse killing objects to finesse style challenges to help people at

2016 High Points
In 2016 SOCA will award high point obstacle
challenge winners in the following divisions: First
Year (Amateur), Novice, Youth, Non Pro, Open Elite
and Posse. Points from each of the 2016 SOCA
Obstacle Challenges will be totaled, with double
points at the obstacle challenge championship in
November. The horse/rider team with the most
points will be the high point champion. Based on the
feedback from members, the high point award will
be custom SOCA buckles.
Regional Championship buckles for the Extreme
Cowboy Races will be determined by points
accumulated at SOCA events only. The horse/rider
teams accumulating the most points at each
designated SOCA EXCA race (with the triple points
at the Nationals in June and Regional Championship
races in September and double points for all State
Championships) will be awarded the high point
buckle in the following divisions: Pro, Non-Pro, Ride
Smart, Novice, Intermediate, Youth, and Non-Pro.
Purpose of SOCA
OBSTACLE CHALLENGES
• Divisions for all levels of horses and riders
• Open to all breeds
• Payback in all classes, prizes, and ribbons
• Ten to fifteen obstacles
• Events will be in arenas and on the trail
EXTREME COWBOY RACES
• Sanctioned Extreme Cowboy Races with
divisions for: Pro, Non-Pro, Novice,
Intermediate, Ride Smart, Youth, Young Guns,
& Green Horse
• Open to all breeds
• Payback, prizes, and ribbons
CLINICS/SCHOOLING DAYS
• Learn to negotiate obstacles
• Schooling days will allow you to practice
obstacles with the help of others, and without
the pressure of competition.

SOCA dues ($10) are due January 1st!
Please renew at your first event of the year.
Dues help fund the highpoint awards and
administrative costs of the club.
