COTEDAZUR-Card
New in 2014 – The COTEDAZUR-Card®! The Côte d’Azur at your fingertips
The Côte d’Azur has often been positioned at the vanguard of innovation in tourism. From the premises of the Internet to the main tourist itineraries, from
the development of structures dedicated to business tourism including the opening of the main global tourist markets, this structure has always
demonstrated its modernity and innovative capacity.
2014 will also be the year of a new initiative developed by the CRT Côte d’Azur’s recently created New Projects Cluster, supported by all of the Riviera’s
players in tourism. This entailed developing a marketing tool that is completely new in French territory and fully part of a win-win strategy for both visitors
and local service providers.
This new tool aims to “fight the crisis” by satisfying tourist consumption needs for the overall benefit of the Destination, as well as more specifically for
professionals.
For example, accommodation providers (hotels, tourist residences, camping sites, guesthouses...) can provide it along with rooms as an extra in their offering
to make it even more attractive and original.
Consequently, the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes département and CRT Côte d’Azur, in charge of tourism in the département, are launching the
COTEDAZUR-Card® in spring 2014, for the benefit of the entire “Côte d’Azur destination”!
The COTEDAZUR-Card® is a Pass —a prepaid electronic passport— which offers its holders access to over 110 activities over the entire territory of the AlpesMaritimes and part of the Var, from the coast to the summer mountain resorts.
We wanted to make it easier for tourists to visit the sights and practise the activities they enjoy most and incite them to diversify their programme with
additional offers included with this Pass.
COTEDAZUR-Card®: a concentrate of ideas and good deals!
Holidaymakers, in addition to managing their expenses, want to enjoy their holidays and many of them would prefer so-called “experience holidays” or
“active holidays.” This is what inspired us to create the COTEDAZUR-Card®.
The Pass offers a chance to practise many different activities for 3 or 6 consecutive days on the basis of a simple principle and a concentrate of good deals.
The COTEDAZUR-Card®: some figures...
115 activities included (+ choice of 5) and 85 partners
25 tours and excursions
6 nature sights
29 museums & monuments
13 leisure activities
10 arts, crafts & good food
19 nature activities
13 aquatic activities
In 53 communes in the Alpes-Maritimes and eastern Var départements: from the coast to the hinterland and mountain resorts.
The COTEDAZUR-Card®: infinite combinations!
Many combinations are possible according to whether you prefer museums, the outdoors, tours of major sights, or you are travelling with the family. The
principle is ideal: you can do it all, see it all and enjoy it all!
In short, the COTEDAZUR-Card® means treating yourself to the best the Côte d’Azur has to offer at the best prices while organising your stay to suit your
wishes!

To illustrate what this Pass has to offer, here are a few suggested itineraries to undertake according to our visitors’ interests...
@MACM Mougins-- Château de La Napoule – Château de Villeneuve – Fondation Émile-Hugues, Vence – Musée de l’Art Concret, Mouans-Sartoux – Notre-Dame-des-Fontaines, La Brigue
Art itineraries: ideal for art lovers...
@Maeght Foundation
The Maeght Foundation and Maeght extra muros...
A must for all visitors to the Côte d’Azur! The Maeght Foundation is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2014 and will pay tribute to Sert, the architect who
worked with Aimé and Marguerite Maeght in building this, the very first private foundation dedicated to contemporary art and inaugurated by Malraux in
1964. The summer exhibition will present “50 years of masterpieces at the Maeght Foundation.”
This will be a landmark event on the French cultural scene in the summer of 2014.
Art lovers will surely make it a priority to visit the Maeght Foundation, but they can also discover works belonging to the Foundation in other museums on the
Riviera on their own for no additional fee:
Other museums for discovering the Maeght Foundation extra muros:
Picasso Museum, Antibes
MAMAC, Nice
Marc Chagall National Museum, Nice
Matisse Museum, Nice
Fernand Léger National Museum, Biot
Magnelli Museum, Vallauris
Picasso and the French Riviera...
@Musée Picasso Antibes – La Guerre & la Paix Vallauris – Atelier Madoura Vallauris
Admirers of Picasso will surely head straight for the Picasso Museum in Antibes*, but, for no additional fee, they can also discover André Villers’s photographs
at the Museum of Photography and Notre-Dame-de-Vie Chapel in Mougins, and the War & Peace Chapel and Madoura studio in Vallauris. There, Picasso
learned ceramics with the Ramié family who left him part of the Madoura studio which they owned, so the great master could give free rein to his artistic
creativity through clay.
Visitors to this legendary studio will find it virtually in its original state, for a moment of emotion before they go to see Picasso’s other major work, War &
Peace.
(*) The Picasso Museum, built on the ramparts of Antibes, was Picasso’s studio from 1946 to 1947 when he was with Françoise Gilot.
The major work to see at the Museum is La joie de vivre (The joy of living) but it is part of a splendid collection of paintings, photographs and ceramics by the
most famous of 20th-century painters in the heart of a museum with a sublime view over the Mediterranean.
At the same time, 2014 will be the occasion for an exceptional temporary exhibition dedicated to Nicolas de Stael in the same Museum.
Great masters of the 20th century on the Côte d’Azur!
They left their mark on the history of the French Riviera, where they came to live, find inspiration, creativity... In the footsteps of great painters...
@ Musée Renoir - Musée Fernand Léger Biot – Musée Bonnard Le Cannet - Musée Cocteau Menton
.Fernand Léger National Museum (Réunion des Musées Nationaux)
Nestled in the hills around Biot, this architecture of this Museum dedicated to the “Construction workers” painter is particularly striking. The Museum was
inaugurated posthumously by Léger’s widow Nadia.
The Museum is in a garden where you can stroll and its charming tearoom/restaurant is open every day to enable visitors to pursue their discovery of the
Museum.
Nearby, the famous glassworks have contributed to the renown of the village of Biot.
.Renoir Museum. The famous painter’s last home, in Cagnes, now houses some fifteen works in rooms which witnessed the most private moments in the life
of Renoir and his studio, and whose windows open onto the garden with olive trees planted in the 16th century by soldiers of French King Francis I. Renoir
bought the house to save those majestic trees.
The garden is graced with reproductions of some of Renoir’s works —right where he set up his easel— in the context of La Côte d’Azur des Peintres itinerary.
Haut-de-Cagnes overlooking the sea deserves a visit to discover this well-preserved hilltop village with narrow streets and lovely shops and craftsmen’s
studios. In summer, the Museum hosts exhibitions of contemporary jewellery.
.Bonnard Museum. One of the Côte d’Azur’s most recent museums and especially the world’s one and only museum dedicated to this artist, a major painter,
although he may not be as well-known as some of the great masters of the 20th century.
He was one of the seven French painters selected for the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and his works have reached spectacular prices in auctions.
He lived in Le Cannet for some twenty years after 1926, and painted this town many times, as well as the Bay of Cannes.
.Cocteau Museum-Séverin Wunderman Collection. Menton, the Citrus Capital, was both Jean Cocteau’s holiday home and his workplace.
The City honours his memory in particular with the Jean Cocteau Museum-Séverin Wunderman Collection, designed by Rudy Ricciotti and open on the Sea on
one side and on the Old Town of Menton on the other.
The Museum displays some of the 1,800 works in the collection of Séverin Wunderman, a great admirer of Cocteau’s work.
Just a few steps away, La Serre de la Madone garden is also open to visitors.
A hidden treasure: the Museum of Classical Art of Mougins!
A yet little-known treasure, this Museum is home to the private collection of a British art lover in the heart of the old village of Mougins. The Museum’s
purpose is to show how the beauty of the Ancient world has influenced neoclassical, modern and contemporary art.
This unique collection of antiquities includes sculptures, vases, jewellery and coins of Roman, Greek and Egyptian origin, and the world’s largest private
collection of ancient weapons and armour.
In addition to these artworks, there are over a hundred paintings, drawings and sculptures of artists like Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Dufy, Cézanne, Rodin, Dali,
Andy Warhol, Marc Quinn, Antony Gormley and Damien Hirst. For children, the visit is punctuated with interactive presentations on touch screens.
Other features to discover:
Fondation Émile-Hugues in Vence. The Foundation will host a remarkable exhibition from 16 June to 30 November: Intime Conviction, works from the
Giuliana and Tommaso Setari Collection.
The Asian Arts Museum, which organises exhibitions throughout 2014 around the 50th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between France
and China.

The COTEDAZUR-Card®, for pros!
A first in France: a City Pass on the scale of a territory!
The COTEDAZUR-Card is completely new in the world of tourism on the scale of a territory: for the first time in France, a tourist destination displays the
diversity of its offering with this all-inclusive concept.
A genuine marketing tool to encourage visitors to rediscover one of the best known tourist destinations by federating nearly 100 tourism professionals
around the promotion of their activities and their heritage in a concept concentrated in a single pass!
How it started...
It is based on the observation of figures linked to tourist frequentation showing clear progress for Switzerland, Germany and Austria which stand out as
remarkable destinations in terms of appeal and competitiveness: the all-inclusive solution.
The COTEDAZUR-Card® was inspired by the successful Salzburgerland model built around the renown of Salzburg and proposing some 190 tourist offerings
in the vicinity of this famous town. After a half-dozen years of experience, over 55,000 Passes are sold every year.
The CRT Côte d’Azur, on the basis of the results of the Vésubie-Valdeblore Pass in the summer of 2013 in a small territory with 9 activities, was able to test
the impact of this type of product: over 6,500 activities were used in the Pass’s two months of validity.
It seemed logical to extend this principle to the entire territory of the Alpes-Maritimes and —why not? — the eastern Var département.
A unique marketing tool for a unique formula!
It contributes to showing the offering and diversity of the Côte d’Azur destination: from the coast to the mountain resorts!
It goes against the Riviera’s image as an expensive destination.
It brings together tourist players in the Region, from the best known to the most confidential, public and private.
It enables tourist partners to engage fully in the idea of the excellence of hospitality to greet holidaymakers. The better to enhance the quality of the “Côte
d’Azur” welcome, some service providers will offer welcome gifts to COTEDAZUR-Card® holders.
It encourages mobility over the territory. This Pass proves that a single formula can broadly cover the French Riviera offering and incite visitors to explore
geographic areas they would not have sought to discover spontaneously.
On the sidelines...
In the past few months, CRT Côte d’Azur staffs, who are behind this project, undertook a consultation with a steering committee fully representative of the
territory and the French Riviera’s tourist offering.
At the same time, CRT Côte d’Azur staff contacted professionals in the territory to bring together 80 service providers today, from the coast, upland and
hinterland!
The principle is also based on the powerful network of distributors throughout the territory. The Pass can be acquired in some one hundred places: Offices
du Tourisme, accommodation providers —hotels, tourist residences, camping sites... — and service providers included in the Pass... It can also be purchased
online at www.cotedazur-tourisme.com.
This product is built on a public-private financial setup where every player in the Pass has a key role in the heart of a chain which should lead to a success
story for the entire destination.

How does it work for customers?
When customers arrive on the Riviera, they can purchase the COTEDAZUR-Card® from a few 100 points of sale and on the Internet.
After having bought it, according to the selected formula (3 or 6 consecutive days – Adult or child), the holder of the Pass (or e-ticket) simply goes to the
points of acceptance, validates admission and triggers the selected period of validity.
From then on, all the activities listed in the catalogue accompanying the COTEDAZUR-Card® are available in this all-inclusive formula.
How does it work for service providers?
This marketing tool offers a chance for service providers to promote their offering as ambassadors for the Destination.
They boost their sales networks, and benefit from the COTEDAZUR-Card’s economic effects and its promotional impact.
How does it work for distributors?
They receive 7% of their sales.
The Passes are sold on a consignment basis, so no money is advanced.
They offer and sell to their customers an attractive new formula.
They provide added value to tourist stays for new customers.

In all, the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes département and the CRT Côte d’Azur are investing again in a major new communication campaign for the
French Riviera with a €200,000 budget. This investment will serve to put posters in the Paris Metro and Périphérique (ring road), in TGV (high-speed trains)
between Paris and the Côte d’Azur, and in the Alpes-Maritimes (press and poster campaign), to keep the 4.5 million tourists visiting the Riviera informed
between May and September.
