Here is our new list of classes and clubs that will run for Apr - Jun at which time another list will be
available. We have a great list of classes so don’t miss out.
We are starting the season with a “Class Launch” in both stores. Surrey will have their class launch on
Thurs Apr 2 at 10:00am and Chilliwack will have a class launch on Thurs Apr 9 at 1:00pm during Cake
Therapy. Join us as we go over all the great classes and clubs we are running. It’s a good time to see
the samples, ask questions and register for classes.

Special Events
Janome Make ’n Take: Have you been thinking it’s time to look at a
new sewing machine or embroidery machine? This make ‘n take will
give you the opportunity to try out a full range of new machines;
portable machines that you could take to classes, long arm quilting
machines and even an embroidery machine. This is a fun class
because you get to try the different types of machines while make
a small project to take home.

Clubs
1. Sewn Seeds: With HoopSisters you can make
perfectly quilted, pieced, and decoratively stitched
quilt blocks all in the hoop of an embroidery machine.
The 2015 EmbroidaBlock of the Month program
combines the fun and unique HoopSisters technique
with designed and digitized quilting by Sharon
Schamber, Sewn Seeds can be done either as a 64
block sampler
(using optional border CD) or as a stunning on-point design Premier Quilt with
180 blocks (up to 114" square!) This quilt was made using wool batting to give the quilt a trapunto effect.
This is a great way to start using your embroidery machine! Come in and see our sample, this truly is a
work of art. Pattern is only available by taking the class. Pattern available for all machine in sizes 5”, 6”,
7”, 8”, 9”. Sign up for the class or monthly pattern pick up.

2. New - American Beauty – Block of the Month (6 Months): Using Marti Michell’s Perfect
PatchworkTemplates students will create a beautiful queen size quilt. This club will be presented over
6 months with two blocks being presented at each session. This way your quilt top can be finished
before the summer. If you aren’t able to take the class then you can arrange to pick up the block kit
each month. Kits available for pick up.

3. Square in a Square Club: Jodi Burrows wanted to find an easy way to
create amazing quilt blocks so she created the square in a square ruler
system. Come and learn new simple ways to make quilt blocks. Find out
how simple it can be to put together a variety of perfect quilt block.
You can join this club any month and learn this great technique. We
make a different block each month.

4. Embroidery Club for All Embroidery Machines: We have a new line up of fun project for spring. We
will learn cutwork, embroidery on a t-shirt and embossing on towels. All great projects that would
make great gifts and just fun to make. This club has been designed to work on all current brands and
models of embroidery machine with a min 5” x 7” hoop, if you are not sure if your machine will work
give us a call to confirm. This club is a great way for the beginner or the experienced embroiderer
to become more familiar with their embroidery machine. There will be a new project each month
with new techniques learned each month.

5. Cake Therapy and Beyond: We have a whole new line up of fun classes and
patterns this year for Cake Therapy. If you haven’t already attended Cake
Therapy, then it’s time you did and find out what you are missing. All we are going
to tell you is it takes place once a month at both stores and there are NO FEES
for these sessions, but there will be cake! And of course laughter, friends, coffee
and tea! What quilter doesn’t need a little “Therapy”, so sign up today to reserve

“Quilt Til You Wilt”
2. These evenings continue to be very popular! Come in for an evening of “Fun and Finishing”. Bring in
those UFOs and the staff will guide you in finishing them. It’s always a lot more fun to work with
other quilters. We’ll have coffee, tea, and hot chocolate on hand and order in supper. Come to one or
come to them all. Bring along any project that you want to work on. Call us now to reserve your spot

4. Sewing Machine Level 1: This class will cover the basics of learning to
operate your machine. Threading your machine, winding your bobbin, tension
top and bottom , straight stitch, stitch length dials, stitch width dials
,needle up and down buttons, reverse, tension on zig zag ,dropping feed dogs,
needle positions, presser foot pressure, threads. For those of you who just
purchased a sewing machine at Tom’s or Countryfolk this would be lesson
number 1.

5. Sewing Machine Level 2: This class includes different types of buttonholes
blind hem , rolled hem, sewing on buttons, stretch stitches, and other stitches
on your machine. Learn how important and useful your machines stitches are.
For those of you who just purchased a sewing machine at Tom’s or Countryfolk

6. Sewing Machine Level 3: Level 3 is about computerized machines.
Decorative stitches , programming, memory , elongating stitches,
balancing stitches. You will be able to use more of those decorative
stitches on your machine. For those of you who just purchased a sewing
machine at Tom’s or Countryfolk this would be one of your FREE lessons.

7. Machine Embroidery Level 1: Do you have a new embroidery machine?
Come learn the basics on how to set up your machine to do embroidery.
Find out about thread, stabilizers, how to hoop and how to open patterns
and get ready to embroider. You will also learn how to save a pattern onto
a USB stick or memory card.

8. Serger Class Level 1: Do you have a serger, but don’t understand threading
and tensions? This course will teach you how to thread your machine,
balance your tensions, lock that stitch at the end of your seam and sew:
inside corners, outside corners, inside curves and outside curves. The class
manual is $25.00 but, if you sign up for at least three classes at once, the
manual is half price.

9. Serger Class Level 2: In level 2 we move onto 3-thread serging. You will learn
about 3-thread wide, 3-thread narrow, 3-thread decorative, rolled hem,

11. Planning a Panel : So you have this wonderful panel – Now what? Panels can
be used as the start of an amazing one of a kind quilt. By adding pieced and
plain rows and borders, a panel can become an amazing quilt. Some panels
are so beautiful, the look almost like paintings and can be enhanced and
enlarged with some simple techniques. Bring your panel and we will make
individual plans that will be easy to follow and dive you striking results.

12. Pillow Case Day! :Are you looking for a fun way to use up some of your stash while helping others?
We will be holding a free, one day pillowcase making session, where we will lead
you through the steps of creating a fast and easy pillowcase. We are hoping
that you will want to stitch one or more to donate to a local charity and or
Children's Hospital. We suggest that you use children's prints or funky brights
for the ones you will be donating. A supply list will be available.

13. Light and Versatile Backpack: You can make it! Would you like to make a
light, versatile and cute back-pack! This back-pack is made from pet screen,
when finished it is roughly 12 1/2" x 12 1/12 ".....There is adjustable straps,
the main body has a heavy weight plastic zipper, and a zippered pouch
attached at the back to keep small items.

14. Strip Pieced Table Runner: (quilt as you go) Finish a table runner in one session. Quilt it as you piece

15. Crazy Quilting: In these classes student will learn many different
techniques, including embroidery stitches, beading and silk ribbon
embroidery to name a few. Students will work on a large block using a
sewing machine for piecing the background and embellishing by hand.
This block could become a cushion top, tote bag front or as each
student desires.

16. Turned Under Appliqué: by hand or machine: Ever wanted to make an
quilt with appliqué? All the edges are turned under and you can use
these techniques for hand or machine appliqué. A bit of simple shaped
appliqué often adds a finishing touch to a quilt, or of course it can be
done on the entire quilt.

20. Artistic Simple Cut and the Artistic Edge 15: The Basics: An introduction to “Artistic Simple Cut”.
This application is bundled with the new Janome Artistic Edge 15. Come learn the basic menus and
commands for this new exciting software. This course is suitable for Applique, machine Embroidery
and paper crafters. The basics of the application, as well as, wireless connections to the Edge 15
cutter will be covered.

some of the new quilting features on your embroidery machine.
This bag would also make a great gift, that is if you don't want to

25. Paper Pieced Stars: Simple or complex, you can easily create these
great stars. Even if you haven’t done paper piecing before, this is a
way to make absolutely perfect points.

26. Sunflower String Quilt Using a couple of easy tricks you can make a scrappy
quilt in no time at all. A great way to use up those scraps and make a bright,
cheerful quilt that looks a little more planned than scrappy.

27. Embellished Tulips: This contemporary
Shadow Appliqué technique is a great project for anyone who
loves the look of appliqué but doesn't want to take the time to
stitch the edges under. Once the shapes are cut out they are
placed on the background fabric, covered with tulle and then
layered on batting and backing. Hand quilting, embroidery
stitches and beading techniques are then used to finish the
piece. Finished size is 11" x 14". Supply list available.

28. Use Your Scraps with NO FEAR!: Debbie is a published scrappy
quilter and wants to share her knowledge (no fear of scraps) with you
so you too can create those scrappy quilts that look great. You will
learn how to organize your scraps and create a quilt from just one
block the split 9 patch. Her technique will also include using a new
ruler! So gather those scraps (from your stash or your friend's) 3
inches or larger and join in on this new adventure.

29. Beatle Bag: The sew and go Beatle Bag is your personalized traveling
bag. Use it as a sewing kit, store beads, flosses, make-up or jewelry.
The pattern includes 4 inserts which are heavy duty vinyl bags. They
have a zip closure. Each insert has two bags, one on each side, so in
total you get 8 bags. On the inside it also has two pockets big enough
to hold full size scissors and a full size cutter. It also has a
detachable pin cushion.

30. Beginner Alternating 4 Patch: In this project I will take you through quilt
making and share my tricks for accuracy and easy quilting. If you haven't
quilted before this is a great project to see what quilting is all about. You
will learn rotary cutting, strip piecing, pressing, machine quilting and binding
techniques. It's also a great class for quilters who would like to improve
their skills.

32. Label Making : Now your quilt is finished. Sign that work of art. Learn what information to put on
the label and why it is so important. We will go over tips and tricks to make a label that suits you and
your quilt. This is a hands on workshop that includes time to try some label making.

33. Another Stack ‘n Whack: Here is another “take” on the stack ‘n
whack theme. This one takes less fabric (only six repeats are
needed) and it’s just different enough to make it interesting. The
main thing is to get the right fabric for it. You should pick a “dense”
print with no large “blank” spots.

34. Walking Foot Quilting How do you know where to quilt? Choosing patterns and planning what to do
can be easier than you think. Using your walking foot is the easiest way to
finish quilting some of those tops we all have. We will discuss threads and tips
and tricks. Bring a quilt already basted with pins, thread or spray baste, and
we will make a plan for it and get it underway.

35. Jelly Roll Star: Just a jelly roll and some background and you create a
stunning quilt top. It measures 63 inches by 63 inches and is very
simple to sew. Great for the quilter who has already done the basics

36. Jar Quilt: These quilts are coming back to well-deserved popularity. They are kinda like and I Spy
with a personality all its own. Your novelty fabrics
make up the contents of the jars. Could be food,
candy, bugs, buttons or tinkerbell. You don't need
much of each one and we can trade in class to have
even more variety. These quilts just make me smile.

threads out there. Some are specific to your fabric and others are specific
to your thread, while others are specific to the technique you are doing.

44. Match Game I Spy: We make this project using pairs of squares. They
can be fun kid prints, bright colours, and cool patterns. This quilt is two
games in one. Kids can play I Spy or find the matching blocks. You need
60 pairs of 5 inch squares. We trade in class so it is very easy to make
up the 60 pairs. Each 5 inch strip yields 8 squares so you will have
plenty to trade. This pattern can become a real addiction. I’m on my
third one already.
