The time you get this newsletter, the club has gone through a lot of
activities in a month and half. I had a hard time keeping up with it all.
Starting with our car show - Z Odyssey then ZDayZ and then ZCCNV 1st
Spring Car Show. I need a break! But I am going to tell you one thing, it
was FUN! Good Z cars and great friends, nothing better. As far as fun
goes, this month’s activity will be a cruise to the Weeping Radish Brew
Pub in Grandy, NC. Emails will be sent out with more info. On this type
of event you don’t need to drive/bring your Z if it is laid up. Drive anything. It is all about fellowship!
If you would like a certain activity for the club, your ideas are always
welcomed. The club is always in need help of a event coordinator for the

TZCC activities. If you would like to volunteer to head up a planned acPreZ SayZ
tivity, just contact any club officer or bring it up at a club meeting.

Summer events are in full swing for car cruise-ins; car shows and last
minute “show & shines”. To keep track of last minutes announcements
emails are sent out for latest and greatest to keep you informed. Then you can help spread the
word of TZCC membership. Pass out the TZCC teaser cards and tell other Datsun/Nissan Z
and Infiniti G owners about our club. Don’t forget to tell them about our website (listed on the
last page) and they also find us on Facebook. See you at the club meeting. Important stuff is
going on.

TZCC May 14, 2012 Meeting Minutes
President Todd Wagner called the meeting to order at the East Side Pizzeria in Portsmouth. He decided to
forgo introductions as we all knew each other. For the treasurer’s report, please see elsewhere in this
newsletter (we have money). The minutes of the last meeting were approved as written. For the membership
report, Lawrence Davis rejoined at the car show, and Harry Bradley rejoined from Florida.
Old business: We had fifty cars registered for the show and another fifteen came. Some of the attendees are
thinking about joining.
The North Carolina Center for Automotive Research (NCCAR) is hosting Gripfest 2012 on May 26 th. The fee
is $150 for drivers, buying you ten timed runs on the 2.5-mile road course. It costs $10 for spectators.
The Z Car Club of Northern Virginia will hold its spring show on Sunday, June 3rd, in Manassas.
The Z Car Association of Richmond’s Ztoberfest is scheduled for Sunday, October 7th.
New business: The next club event is a road trip to the Weeping Radish brewpub in Currituck on Sunday,
June 24th. Starting time and location are to be announced. Looks like they have a lot more going on than just
beer–http://www.weepingradish.com/–not that there’s anything wrong with just beer!
Our thanks to Pomoco Nissan for hosting the May car show, and to all of our sponsors: Black Dragon, Tire
Rack, Summit Racing, Advance Auto Parts, and Tidewater Z Auto Service among others.
For the next car show, Mark Garrenton urged all members to contact businesses now and let them know we’re
collecting items, gift certificates, etc., now for two car shows each year. Angela Brown will provide an email
soon with more details. So get ready to make your contacts. If every member gets just one positive response,
we can fill the goodie bags easily and the whole burden won’t be on Angela.

Todd and I took off to ZdayZ in North Carolina and wow what a good time. Between the views, Z cars, beer
and amazing roads there was hardly time for sleep on one of the funniest trips I have ever done. Whether it
was the dyno pull off or the exhaust sound off, nothing was boring. There was always something to do with the
some of the country’s best driving roads all around you or just prep your ride for the big car show. There is
truly something for every Z enthusiast but when the sun goes down, its time to mingle at the deck party until ...
then go on to the bonfire party sleep it off and do it all over again the next day. I’m no old geezer and boy will
this event leave you exhausted. There is no doubt in my mind I will be there next year with bells on and maybe
we can get some more Tidewater Z folks out there so we can show them how to get down, LOL!
Another year brings another Z Odyssey which was held on May 5, 2012. The weather really
played in to TZCC hands with nothing but beautiful blue sky and sun. The Z cars rolled in with
a total of 50 registrations and about 12 more after 1pm. Truly a day to behold with a lot full a
Zs. Over the course during the show, there where old friends meeting once again, tall stories
being told and fix-it ideas were being passed along. The show t-shirts were notable as it had
Mr. K picture on the back. A photo of the shirt back can be found on the cover of this
newsletter. There are extra car show t-shirts that can be purchased, contact Todd Wagner for
more info. Remember … some sizes are limited. Also past Z Odyssey shirts are available. The
DJ tunes hit the mark and the door prizes made new owners. Even a couple a Hooters girls
showed up to assist with the POMOCO Nissan Dealer’s Choice trophy award presentation.
There were surprises of some class winners as a few folks were beat by their friends, but all in
good fun. Also heard “I’ll get you next year”, which means that owner has some work to do.
TZCC would like to “Thank” Henry Ayers and the rest of the POMOCO Nissan of Hampton,
VA staff for the support and hospitality that they extent to us each year. And last TZCC would
like to “Thank” the club members that pitched in and helped pull the show together and make
it a class act hit!

BEST IN SHOW
The Z Car Club of Northern Virginia held its first car show on June 3, 2012 at Sheehy Nissan of Manassas. A
few of TZCC members (Mark Garrenton, Todd and Mandi Wagner, Blake Russell along with other dual
members Beth Brown, Fred Buoni and Paul Gasporola) drove in to help with anything and to lend a hand. It
was a sunny day just to hang out with friends. The show coordinator (Eiji Hosomi also a ZCCNV and TZCC
member) did a great job for this event. There were about 40 cars, which made it a good one for being the first
one! Even had a large yellow/white tent that could not be missed for registration! TZCC trophy winners were:
300ZX (Z31): 2nd Place- Blake Russell and 1st Place- Beth Brown. The water spot on Blake’s car made the
difference between 1st and 2nd, so close! Both cars are beautiful. Todd and Fred got 2nd place for the 260Z.
Good placements for TZCC! Great job for the show goes to ZCCNV!
