Dr. Eric Van Dooren, DDS
CV:
Dr Eric Van Dooren attended the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, where he
received his degree in dentistry in 1982. After graduating, he opened a private
practice in Antwerp, Belgium, specializing in periodontics, fixed prosthodontics and
implantology.
Currently, he is a Visiting Professor at the University of Liege, Belgium, and at the
University of Marseille, France, and an active member of the European Academy of
Esthetic Dentistry. In addition, he is a member of the editorial staff of Teamwork
(Germany) and a member of the Belgian Dental Society. Dr Van Dooren lectures
nationally and internationally, mainly on esthetics, implants and esthetic periodontal
surgery. He has published several papers in national and international journals. Dr. Gustavo Giordani, DDS
CV:
Dr Gustavo Giordani received his DDS degree from the Paulista University in 2003
where he also obtained his certificate in Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery. He obtained
his certificate on Periodontal Plastic Surgery and Implantology at Instituto Implante
Perio in São Paulo. From 2007 to 2014 he did a fellowship with Dr. Eric Van Dooren
on Periodontal Plastic Surgery and Implantology in Antwerp, Belgium and he
continues his work with him in the present.
He is also working with Dr. Marcelo Calamita and Dr. Marcos Pitta in their clinic in
Sao Paulo, and is one of the surgeons of Atelie Oral, considered the most
successful dental clinic of Brazil and South America. He lectures on Implantology and
Periodontal surgery, in Brazil and Europe.
Lecture Title: New Opportunities for Enhancement in the

Lecture Synopsis:
The esthetic implant rehabilitation of patients with esthetically and functionally
compromised dentition frequently involves a multidisciplinary approach. The achieving
of esthetic objectives in multidisciplinary cases represents a considerable clinical
challenge.
During recent years , treatment modalities and options have changed . From a
surgical point of view , less invasive procedures are used in order to preserve soft
tissue anatomy and minimize recession. Also the design of implants and prosthetic
components
has changed in order to minimize bone resorption and soft tissue alterations .This
lecture will focus on a new surgical and prosthetic approach in difficult esthetic
implant rehabilitations.
Dr. Loh Kai Woh, BDS, FAMS (Singapore), MDS, Cert

Lecture Title: Orthodontic mishaps – causes and possible
solutions
CV:
Dr. Loh graduated from the University of Singapore in 1976 and obtained his Master
of Dental Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 1982 through a scholarship
awarded by the National University of Singapore. He was a full time instructor at the
National University of Singapore till 1986. He initiated the formation of the
Orthognathic Centre in 1983 at the University of Singapore to cater for treatment of
patients with dento-facial deformities and was appointed as coordinator of the
Orthognathic Centre.
He founded the Association of Orthodontists, Singapore in 1991 and was the
president for the first 2 years. He was appointed as an external examiner in the Reexamination for the final year of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree, Faculty of
Dentistry, National University of Singapore in 1998 and 2002. He was the President,
Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society 2010-2012. At present he is the Regent for
Singapore for International College of Dentist.
Dr. Loh has given presentations in 19 countries which include Australia, Bangladesh,
China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines,
Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United States of America and
Vietnam.
Lecture Synopsis:
When treating a dental patient, mishaps can happen weather they are endodontic,
prosthodontic, oral surgery, periodontics or orthodontic in origin. It is important to
know how to manage these mishaps. It is even more important to have the
knowledge to preventing such mishaps from happening. This lecture will highlight how
to manage and prevent orthodontic mishaps. Numerous cases will be presented. It is
also important to carefully select cases that can be treated by the skill of the
operator. Choosing the “wrong case” to treat can led to much disharmony between
the patient and the operator. It is always better “to know the water before jumping
in”.

Lecture Title: Prosthetic Rehabilitation of Oral Cancer
Patients

Dr. Pravinkumar G. Patil completed his BDS (2003) from MUHS Nashik, MDS (2008)
from GDC Nagpur, India. He is Fellow of ISOI (2014) and Affiliate-Fellow of AAMP
(2015) USA. Currently working as Senior-Lecturer in ‘School of Dentistry’,
International Medical University (IMU), Kuala Lumpur and Faculty of Examiners (for
Diploma in Implant Dentistry) in Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh-UK. He was
selected for Indian and Japanese Prosthodontic Societys’ International Scientific
Exchange Program (2010) at Tokyo Dental College, Japan. He is currently Editorial
Board Member of ‘Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry’ (IF:1.753), ‘Journal of
Prosthodontics’ (IF:1.071) and ‘World Journal of Stomatology’. He is current SectionEditor (Implant-Section) for Journal of Indian Prosthodontic Society, Managing-Editor
for ‘International Journal of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry’ and PeerReviewer for many more. He was selected as ‘Young-Star Speaker’ at 8th Asian
Prosthodontics Society Conference (2012), Chennai. He is recipient of 3-times
‘Teacher of the Year’ award at GDC Nagpur and nominated as ‘INSA young-scientist
Award 2012’. He is Module Co-ordinator for Post-graduate Diploma in Implant
Dentistry (PGDID) at IMU. He received several research grants as PrincipalInvestigator from ITI-Switzerland, IMU-Malaysia, LTMT-India, IPS-India and ColgateIndia etc. He developed about 12-innovative devices/techniques in prosthodontics
including Mouth-exercising device with 5-pending patents. He published about 85
papers in few top-ranked dentistry journals including JPD, JADA, JOPR, JPOR, JAP,
EJPRD, APJCP, IJDR, JIPS etc He presented more than 25 National- International
meetings and conducted many pre-conference courses.
Lecture Synopsis:
Oral cancers are part of a group of cancers commonly referred to as head and neck
cancers, and of all head and neck cancers they comprise about 85% of that category.
Oral cancer in its early stages may not be noticed by the patient, as it can frequently
prosper without producing pain or symptoms. Hence, frequently, it necessitates the
surgical removal of all or part of oral and maxillofacial structures, leaving the patient
with a defect that compromises the integrity and function of the oral cavity. The
immediate postoperative restoration of esthetics, deglutition and speech shortens
recovery time in the hospital and expedites the patient’s return to the community as
a functioning member. Large mid-facial defects re rarely rehabilitated by surgical
reconstruction alone and usually require a facial prosthesis to restore form, function
and appearance. The maxillofacial prosthodontist, as a member of the surgical team, is
able to aid in the recovery of the patient by careful pre-surgical planning of
prosthetic rehabilitation. This paper will share author’s 10 years of clinical experience
in the field, highlighting varieties of prosthetic rehabilitation cases of oral and
maxillofacial defects including partial/total maxillectomy/mandibulectomy, extraoral
facial defects and so on. The author’s own new techniques of processing of hollowobturator, fabricating surgical-obturator that restores the defect with original tissue
form, spring appliance for total maxillectomy, mouth exercising device for Oral
submucous fibrosis etc will be discussed. The nutritional care during and after
surgery and rehabilitation phase will be discussed. The current trends of prosthetic
rehabilitation will be reviewed including the use of dental and/or craniofacial implants

Lecture Title: Dealing Effectively with Dentine
Hypersensitivity
CV:
Dr Edwin Heng graduated from the National University of Singapore with the
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree in 1999, winning the Gold medal for being
the Best All-round Final year dental student of his cohort. He was also awarded the
Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Postgraduate Scholarship in 2001 and further
obtained his Masters in Oral Biology and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study
(Periodontology) from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in
2004. He attained the Academy of Medicine, Singapore Fellowship (Periodontics) in
2010. His interesting career portfolio includes being a former SAF Head Dental
Officer and Head of General Staff, HQ Medical Corps, coordinating the execution of
medical support in Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief (HADR) missions.
From 2008-2009, he was attached to the prestigious Harvard University School of
Dental Medicine as a Visiting Adjunct Faculty, where he helped direct both didactics,
research and clinical components in Postgraduate Periodontics. He was also elected
as the Vice President of the Singapore Dental Association from 2010-2012. He
currently maintains his clinical forte and practice in the realms of Periodontics and
Implant dentistry in downtown Singapore. He lectures and trains aspiring dentists
regularly within the Asian dental circuit (in countries not limited to: Japan, Hong
Kong, Taiwan, Myanmar, Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia,
Singapore). He is honored to receive an Adjunct Clinical Full Professorship from
Kanagawa Dental University with effect from April 2016 and sits in the University
Board Council. He is the first and only Singaporean dentist to be conferred this
prestigious appo appointment in Japan.
Lecture Synopsis:
Dentine Hypersensitivity (DHS) is a wide spread painful dental problem that is
characterized by short sharp pain arising from exposed dentin in response to several
different stimuli. This accepted definition, indicates the need to consider a differential
diagnosis to rule out other causes of dental pain before the diagnosis of dentin
hypersensitivity is made. The management strategy of this dental problem required a
good understanding of the complexity of the condition and the variety of the
treatment options. The aim of this lecture is to inform practitioners about dentin
hypersensitivity, to provide a brief overview of the diagnosis, etiology and clinical
management (non-surgical and surgical) of dentin hypersensitivity.
Prof. Dr. Seow Laing Lin, BDS, MSc, FDSRCS (Eng), PhD.
Lecture Title: Clinical pearls for practical daily
prosthodontics
CV:
Currently Prof. Dr. Seow is the Associate Dean for the School of Dentistry at the
International Medical University, Kuala Lumpur and has previously served as academic
staff in University of Malaya for ten years. Prof. Dr. Seow is actively involved in
continuing professional programmes to share her knowledge and experience with
fellow colleagues; she has conducted workshops and lectured locally and at
numerous regional conferences. She has also been actively involved in research and
has won numerous awards at international arena namely the Gold Medal and Best
Oral Presentation at the 20th Anniversary CEREC Symposium, the Best Poster
Presentation at The FDI World Congress, the Best Oral Presentation at the Asian
Academy of Prosthodontics Congress, 2nd prize and special prize at the Singapore
IDEM 2008 and 2010 respectively, Travel Award at the 12th International Association
for Dental Research (IADR, SEA Division) Scientific Meeting and 2nd Prize in Oral
Presentation at 18th MDA/FDI International Scientific Conference. She has published
widely in peer review journals. She is the Founding President of Malaysian Association
for Prosthodontics and the President Elect of the Asian Academy of Prosthodontics.
She was the Honorary Publication Secretary for Malaysian Dental Association for
three consecutive terms (2007-2010) and had held the position of secretary and
council member of the International Association for Dental Research (Malaysian
Section). She is also currently the council member for the Malaysian Association for
Aesthetic Dentistry.
Lecture Synopsis:
There is a continuing search in dentistry for the practical tips- the useful technique
which may be added to the daily practice to enhance the outcome of treatment. The
dental practitioners will retain those techniques learnt at dental schools which seem
practical, discard what he/she feels is impractical, and experiment with those which
are questionable. In his/her practice, he will accept some technical advancements,
management innovations, changes in equipment, and newly introduced materials as
being useful. In the area of prosthodontics, the decisions for acceptance or rejection
are numerous and difficult. This is so because the area of treatment has such a wide
scope. We must search for the practical in biologic, physical, chemical, artistic, and
mechanical areas. In addition, we have the human factor to be considered; therefore
diagnosis and treatment plan a case thoroughly is of utmost importance besides able
to execute the prosthodontic procedures with precision. This lecture aims to provide
practitioners with information to rationally treatment plan a case and accurately
deliver high quality restorations with predictable outcomes. It will provide practical
clinical based information that can be adopted in daily practice.

Lecture Title: Clinical Management of Curved Canals : A
Novel 3D Approach to the Endodontic Therapy

Full-time Professor of Endodontics, University of Rome, La Sapienza, Dental
School. Head of the Endodontic Department. Responsible for both pre and
postgraduate students endodontic programme. International lecturer and researcher,
he is author of more than 450 scientific articles, three books and chapters in other
books. He has lectured all over the world (more than 350 presentations) and has
been invited as a main speaker in the most important international (AAE, IFEA, ESE)
and national endodontic congresses in Europe, North and South America, Asia,
Middle East, Australia and South Africa. He has also lectured as an invited speaker in
many Universities worldwide. During his academic career he gained many awards
and recognition, and was responsible of many scientific projects with national
and international grants. He has focused his interests on endodontic materials and
clinical Endodontics. He is actively cooperating as a consultant or patent owner with
many manufacturers all over the world to develop new technologies, operative
procedures and materials for root canal treatment. Official member of ANSI/ADA
and ISO Committees for Endodontic Materials. Active member of IADR, Italian
Society of Endodontists (SIE) and European Society of Endodontology (ESE),
Associate member of AAE. Member of the scientific committee and/or reviewer of

Committee of the ESE. He still maintains a private practice limited to Endodontics in

Lecture Synopsis:
Clinical Management of curved canals : a novel 3d approach to the endodontic
therapy. The recent development of 3d diagnostic devices (CBCT) is not only
improving clinical diagnosis and treatment planning in endodontics, but it’s showing
the hidden anatomy of root canal systems, and influencing concepts and current
trends in endodontic procedures. Such findings are also supported by many in vitro
studies with microct analysis, which clearly show that we need to improve the quality
of our operative techniques, mainly by understanding root canal anatomy in three
dimension and selecting those materials and protocols which are best suited for such
anatomical complexities. The course will describe a novel three dimensional approach
showing the ideal requirements for correctly addressing the root canal anatomy
(3d shaping) and those new techniques which can improve performance and safety.
The need for improved final irrigation techniques to ensure 3 cleaning will be also
described, mainly aiming at addressing those non-instrumented areas (irregularities,
fins, isthmi, etc) inside complex anatomies, which cannot be reached by instruments,
but ideally should be cleaned and disinfected. The principles and techniques
or 3d obturation, the advantages of a warm technique (a combination of continuos
wave of condensation and injectable guttapercha ) over cold techniques. will be also
discussed , At the end participants will be able to
1.understand the need for three dimensional shaping,cleaning and obturation of oval
and irregular canals;
2. evaluate the differences in motion between instruments;
3. select the best procedures for 3d shaping, cleaning and obturation.
Dr. Andy Lo Shih-Chieh, BS, DDS, MS
Lecture Title: Full Month Rehabilitation in Interdisciplinary
Dentistry
CV:
Dr. Lo is a private practitioner in Taipei and he is a graduate of Taipei Medical
University and finished the master degree of Physiology in Taiwan Cheng
Kung University. In addition, he is continuing the master degree of Surgery in China
Dalian Medical University. After that Dr. Lo completed one-year Clinican Program in
Implant Dentistry at UCLA in 2011 and one-year Clinican Program in
Comprehensive Esthetic & Implant Dentistry at UW in 2012. Dr.Lo further equipped
himself by the award of Member and Specialist of Academy of Taiwan Cosmetic &
Implant in Esthetic implantology dentistry in 2013. Next year, he completed the USCTaiwan Comprehensive Surgical and Restorative Implant Training Program in USC in
2014. After that, he completed the USC-China Esthetic Dentistry Training Program in
2015. In addition, Dr. Lo is a key opinion speaker for VITA, SIC implant, Biotech
implant, Sirona, Biolase and DMG dental company.
Dr. Lo was elected as the associated Fellowship of World Clinical Laser Institute in
2013. Apart from the professional practice, Dr. Lo also lectures periodically in SouthEast Asia on the topics of Implant, Esthetic, Orthodontic and Laser Dentistry. Dr. Lo
now is a CEO in charge of dental ED Taiwan and have international lectures and
hands on in Taiwan.
Lecture Synopsis:
Nowadays, we begin to use oralfacial esthetic rehabilitation concept (the Judgment of
the Beauty) in our daily practice and then try to understand more about the
correlation in facial asymmetry & temporomandibular joint dysfunction problem.
Besides, we also try to find out the positive relation between orthodontic treatment
& occlusion rehabilitation. We try to give patients more executive diagnosis and more
integrative treatment plan, which from dental therapy to microplastic injection & oral
cosmetic surgery-orthodontics, prosthodontics, and implant placement treatment in
interdisciplinary Dentistry. Furthermore, we also apply DSD (Digital Smile Design)
concept driven in interdisciplinary dentistry in modern dental era.
Ass. Prof. Marko Jakovac, DMD, MSc, PhD
Lecture Title: Esthetic and functional rehabilitation: From
simple to complex cases
CV:
Ass. Prof. Marko Jakovac, DMD, MSc, PhD, graduated from the School of Dental
Medicine in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1998. In 2000, he passed the state exam and obtained
a license for independent work. In 2002, he began to specialize in prosthodontics.
After receiving his Master of Science degree in 2003 and his PhD in 2008 he became
a senior assistant at the Department of Prosthodontics of the School of Dental
Medicine in Zagreb. Since 2009, Marko Jakovac is ass. professor and has been a
course instructor in the "Advanced Preparation Techniques in Fixed Prosthodontics"
further education program at the Zagreb Dental School. In 2010, he was appointed
head of the postgraduate student course "Esthetics in Fixed Prosthodontics on Teeth
and Implants". In 2012, he became head of the undergraduate students course "Preclinical and Laboratory Fixed Prosthodontics". In 2013, he received the Dean's award
for the best teacher at the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb and since 2015, he
has been head of the undergraduate students course "Microscope in Dental
Medicine".
Marko Jakovac is the author and co-author of several scientific papers and he has
actively participated in numerous international conferences. He is a lecturer and
training course instructor (KOL) at international meetings for Ivoclar Vivadent and
Carl Zeiss. He is a member of the Croatian Prosthodontics Society, European
Prosthodontics Society, Croatian Society of Dental Implantology, Croatian Medical
Association and the Croatian Dental Chamber. Moreover, he is the owner of the
"Aesthetica" dental clinic in Zagreb.
Lecture Synopsis:
Fixed prosthodontics therapy can be demanding no matter if we do a single crown
or veneer in esthetic zone or there is a need for multiple restorations in anterior
and posterior zone. In anterior cases, the esthetic component is dominant
furthermore, if patient also has functional problems, therapy is more complex. To be
able to predict the outcome detailed treatment planning is necessary. As a standard
procedure, we start all our cases with wax up and mock up planning. With such
planning, we can easily predict results. In this phase of planning, it is curtail we know
and understand the materials, their properties and indications of different types of
ceramics, as they are common materials for indirect restorations.
After detailed planning, the clinical phases from tooth preparation to cementation
follow, and if every step is done properly, we can achieve perfect results. And biggest
reward and success is if we, only by changing the smile, manage also to change people
lives for better.
Dr. Udatta Kher, BDS, Master in Oral Surgery
Lecture Title: Taking The Stress Out of Implant
Prosthodontics
CV:
Dr. Udatta Kher graduated from Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai
in 1990 and followed that up with masters in Oral Surgery from the same institute.
His main focus in practice is towards Implant Dentistry. He is a visiting Professor in
the ‘Implantology Department’ at SDM Dental College, Dharwad. He is the ‘Study
Club Director’ for the Mumbai Seacoast Study Club of the ‘International Team for
Implantology’. He is also a registered ‘ITI Speaker’. He is the Director of ‘Impart
Education’ an academy for guiding and nurturing clinicians towards evidence based
dental practice. He is an Xpert on Dental XP the largest portal for dental education
in the world.
Lecture Synopsis:
Restoring teeth over osseointergrated implants is often more challenging than the
surgical placement of implants. Achieving perfect form, function and good esthetics in
implant supported restorations require a thorough understanding of prosthetic
principles.
In this presentation, Dr Kher will validate various impression techniques for
recording accurate impressions for precise fits of the prosthesis. Occlusal
considerations for the fully edentulous situations will also be dealt with during the
presentation.
Various CAD CAM prosthetic options for the fully edentulous patient with newer
materials and design concepts will be discussed.

A/Professor Patrick S K Tseng BDS, MSc Endodontics
Lecture Title: Conservative, conventional and
unconventional endodontics
CV:
A/Professor Patrick S K Tseng, BDS (S’pore), MSc Endodontics (London) is the
current Chief Dental Officer at the Ministry of Health, Singapore and the Registrar of
the Singapore Dental Council.
He is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Endodontics, Restorative
Dentistry and Prosthodontics of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a
Senior Consultant with the Dental Cluster of the National University Health System
(NUHS).
He is concurrently the Chairman of the Dental Specialist Accreditation Board and
Chairman of the Oral Health Therapists Accreditation Committee and is a member
of the Board of the Endodontic Residency Programme of the National University of
Singapore.
He was a past President of the Singapore Dental Association and founder member of
the Society of Endodontists, Singapore and was recently inducted as a Fellow of the
Academy of Medicine (Singapore)
He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel of the Journal of Endodontics of the
American Association of Endodontists and a member of the scientific review panel of
the Hong Kong Dental Journal.
Assoc Professor Tseng has lectured extensively and conducted hands-on courses
both regionally and internationally and continues to supervise and mentor
undergraduate and postgraduate students in Endodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry.
He was awarded The Public Administration Medal (Silver) and The Long Service
Medal at the National Day Awards in 2014.
Lecture Synopsis:
With improving scientific knowledge and understanding of pulp and periradicular
disease together with advancing technologies and management protocols, endodontic
therapy is now performed with greater precision and predictability.
This lecture will review techniques used in the conservative management and
preservation of the vital pulp including the current state of pulp revascularization;
discuss fundamentals to achieving greater predictability and success with
conventional endodontic treatment and showcase some ‘unconventional’ treatment
modalities which has enhanced our ability to preserve the compromised tooth.

Dr Jeanette Chua Keng Ling, BDS, MSc, Master in
Advanced Periodontology(Loma Linda)
Lecture Title: Complications in implant dentistry: Etiology,
prevention & management
CV:
Dr Chua Keng Ling, Jeanette obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from The
University of Melbourne in 1998 and began practicing dentistry in Singapore. She
subsequently returned to Australia to further her practice while completing a Master
in Applied Commerce at the aforementioned university. She also served as Secretary
for the Victorian Branch of the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry. She later did a
preceptorship program in Implant Dentistry at the Implant Department of Loma
Linda University School of Dentistry (LLUSD) in California, USA. This was followed
up with specialty training in Advanced Periodontology and Implant Surgery, and a
Master in Advanced Periodontology. She was a part-time Assistant Professor in the
Advanced Periodontology Department for the undergraduate throughout her tenure
in LLUSD.Dr. Chua established Encia Dental Specialist, a private practice limited to
Periodontology and Implant Surgery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2008. She is also the
Founder of Artius Group, in partnership with a team of like-minded practitioners,
with the aim of providing quality dental treatment through responsible dentistry and
ethical patient care. Moreover, she is currently a visiting faculty member for the
Periodontal Post-Graduate Residence of the University of Malaysia. She also lectures
regularly on aesthetic implant dentistry and periodontal disease throughout the
region.Dr. Chua is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Malaysian
Society of Periodontology, Malaysian Dental Association and Academy of

Lecture Synopsis:
Complications in implant dentistry have been documented over the years. Earlier
studies showed more complications towards prosthetic failures rather than surgical
failures. Recent studies have highlighted peri-implantitis being one of the major
complications in implant dentistry.
It has recently become more apparent as documentation and research on implant
dentistry continues to grow. We can never predict when complications will occur
but we can prevent it by understanding possible causes.
This lecture will go through the framework of how complications can occur in
different portions of implant dentistry, how we can prevent them from happening and
how we have to manage them when it occurs.

Dr Shamsul Anuar Ahmad received his Bachelor in Dental Surgery from the
University of Liverpool in 1996 and later obtained his MFDSRCS England in 2000.
In 2002, he obtained Fellowship Faculty in Dental Surgery, FFD (Oral Surgery/ Oral
Medicine) from Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, Dublin. He went back to
University of Malaya to study Medicine and passed his MBBS in 2010. In 2012, he got
his Certificate in Facial Plastics Surgery from the University of Regensburg, Germany.
He was gazzetted as Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Ministry of Health
in 2003 and registered as Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in National
Specialist Register. He worked in several hospitals in UK after his graduation before
coming back to Malaysia. He worked as Clinical Specialist OMFS and later Deputy
HOD and Consultant OMF Surgeon in hospitals here. He is currently the Consultant
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Bangsar Utama Dental Specialist Center and KPJ
Tawakal Helath Centre. His special interests are: Head and Neck Oncology –
Management and rehabilitation, Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma – especially in complex
cases, Orthognathic Surgery, Dental Implantology – Bone grafting, computerized
planning and CadCam restorations and Facial Plastics Surgery- post-trauma and

Dr Lim received her BDS degree from the University of Malaya (UM) in 2008 and

Due to her passion in esthetic dentistry, Dr Lim pursued her further training in the
Center of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry in University of California, Los Angeles
UCLA ). She completed her two years full-time residency from 2012-2014.

virtually all segments of our daily life, from the field of science, medicine to the field
of arts and communications. Integrating digital photography into dental practice is
becoming easier and more affordable. Its application in contemporary dentistry is

Based on the recent articles and clinical experience, dental photography has assisted
the clinicians in many aspects of their daily practice. This presentation will give an
overview of the importance of digital photography, how it makes everyday practice
easier, more comprehensive, resulting in improved quality.

Lecture Title: Simple, Appropriate, Aesthetic Orthodontics
for General Dentist

Dr Gun completed her Dental Degree at Royal Karolinska Institute in Sweden 1986.
Since then she has been running a private dental clinic in Stockholm for 18 years
before moving to Dubai 2007 where she is currently practising at Dr Michaels Dental
Clinic. Her main focus has always been on minimal invasive multidisciplinary
treatments. Since 2014 she is a certified Inman Aligner trainer and has completed
over 300 cases, often combined with bleaching, direct or indirect bonding for the
best results. Today her focus lies on progressive smile design where the patient leads
the way during treatment. Dr Gun is a member of AACD.

In this lecture, Dr. Gun Norell will introduce a simple appliance which general
dentists can use to deliver aesthetic orthodontics. She will explain the case selection
and implementation for the Aligner orthodontic appliance along with the concept of
progressive smile design to provide minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry.
The “three step smile” alignment, bleaching and bonding, are far less risk, better
consenting and arguably a far more natural outcome than traditional veneer

Hilal Kuday, CDT is a Turkish dental technician who graduated from Istanbul
University in 1999. He started his own laboratory in Istanbul in 2003. He
subsequently worked with Ivoclar Training Team since 2008. He has worked with
many well-known dentists such as Dr Galip Gürel, Dr. Eric Van Dooren & Prof. Dr.
Stefan Koubi in the past and has presented in many countries around the world on

Dr Abu Razali Saini is a general practitioner with a passion for aesthetic dentistry and
dental photography.
A much sort after dentist by local celebrities and artists for aesthetic dentistry, Dr
Abu also lends his expertise in local movie productions whenever they require
artistic and realistic dental prosthesis.
Dr Abu has also conducted numerous lecture and hands-on workshops locally and
internationally. He currently lectures on various topics related to aesthetic dentistry
and clinical photography, both topics that are close to his heart.
A graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry, University Malaya, Dr Abu is now actively
involved in contributing to dental education and holds many adjunct positions at
various universities in Malaysia.

Dental photography is considered to be a powerful tool for treatment planning in the
modern dental practice. Pre and post-op clinical pictures are necessary for diagnosis,
treatment planning, maintaining dental records for patient motivation and medicolegal defense should the need arise. Images provide the necessary reference
especially in high end aesthetic cases that demand precise results. While a wellplanned treatment is essential for the longevity of the treatment, record of
procedural as well as before and after dental photos significantly increase the
patients’ confidence and helps in practice marketing. As dentistry goes digital in Asia
as elsewhere, digital dental photography continues to be a highly sought after trend,
which is evident from numerous hits generated on regional dental photography
hands-on courses/ lectures on any search engine. Many of the courses promote
DSLR cameras, which often involve heavy investment from the participants. The
steep learning curve for DSLR has been one of the main deterrents in incorporating
dental photography routinely in the dental practice. Complex customization required
to adapt any DSLR camera for dental photography is tedious, time consuming,
requires training for a dedicated staff in the dental team and presents with infection
control challenges. A successful dental practice requires the incorporation of a
