INTERGROUP MEETING MINUTES
April 27, 2014
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 2:03
Serenity prayer
Chair called the meeting to order
Secretary’s Report Richard announced that Aneisa was ill and unable to attend. Vivian A.
volunteered to act as secretary. March minutes were read and accepted. February minutes were
updated with the correct date and time for the Santa Fe Springs meeting which has moved. It is
now Tuesday, 6:30 – 7:30 PM at 11015 Bloomfield Ave., Santa Fe Springs.
Chair’s Report
a. There were no new IRs.
b. Richard reviewed e-mail addresses and got corrections
c. Richard said we are no longer making money on literature. Literature is covering its
cost, but not making money
Roll Call: Number of IG meetings represented 33
There are no new meetings and no meetings have moved
Treasurer’s Report/Audit and Finance: Steve gave the financials as they are detailed in the
Intergroup packet.
Committee Reports
Standing Committees
Inreach/Outreach Committee : Each year 1,000 is budgeted for inreach and outreach.
There was a discussion of the ways we could use this money. Ideas included newspaper
ads, flyers with tear offs giving meeting dates and times. We want to get the message out
there that there is recovery for compulsive eating. The matter was tabled to be addressed
at future meetings.
Literature: Kat shared that there are two excellent free pamphlets from World Service
that could be included in a Newcomer Packet for each meeting to welcome newcomers into
the meeting and CEA-HOW. The matter was tabled to be addressed at future meetings.
It was suggested that the meeting list be printed so that the list would be available to
members. It was suggested that a bulk printing of the meeting list were cut down on printing
costs. The matter was tabled to be addressed at future meetings.
Special Events: Hispanic Birthday Party and Fashion Show in September. Chair
Nelson reported a tentative date of Saturday or Sunday, September 6 or 7 or the following
week of Saturday or Sunday, September 14th or 15th. Nelson’s phone is (323) 493-8787
and his e-mail address is [email protected] He needs a committee of ten volunteers
to volunteer for decorations. The location may be at a local church. He will have a flyer
out next month. He is currently looking at three different bands. Call him if you want to
volunteer. Groups will be asked to donate baskets. There will be raffles. The cost will be
$25 for each ticket which will include dinner and dancing.
Old Business: There was a discussion as to whether or not we would use the online
company, EventBrite, for purchasing tickets to CEA-HOW events. This would eliminate
many difficulties with selling tickets at individual meetings. World Service has used this
company for the conventions and found it very safe and efficient. It is the gold standard for
online ticket purchasing. It gives the option of using PayPal. It was moved and seconded
that we adopt EventBrite and negotiate the PayPal agreement. The motion was passed
unanimously.
7 th tradition: Collected $37
Next Intergroup meeting set for May 18 at 2:00 PM
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 3:05
Respectfully submitted by Viv A., acting secretary

CEA-HOW GLOBAL CONVENTION, 2014
MEETINGS COMMITTEE:
(Chair & Co-Chair: 1 year in the fellowship, 6 mo. abstinence
requirement, completed & given away CEA -HOW Inventory) The
Chair recruits a Co-Chair. They find qualified members to lead
meditation, candlelight meetings and marathon meetings. The
Chair provides meeting formats and candles (when necessary).
Compulsive eaters not attending the convention can attend
Marathon meetings. Obtains meeting room information and
schedule from Convention Chair. The Meetings Chair and
Co-Chair work with the Graphics/Publications and V olunteer
Committees to publicize the times of these meetings and any need
for volunteers to help with setup of the meetings. They also make a
schedule of leaders and make sure the meeting leaders arrive
ahead of time for their meetings and bring with them anything
needed for their meetings. It is a good idea to have an alternate
meeting leader just in case the original meeting leader is unable to
attend.
