Buck's Blueprint
ver since Parkmall launched its new
indoor park on November 2015,
the Atrium Park has attracted a constant
stream of guests of all ages. Every day,
people sit on the benches, seniors take a
break under the tree sculptures, teenagers
huddle in cliques, and children chase each
other on the grass. The space is naturally
inviting and people gravitate to it without
effort.
The genius behind the landscape
surrounding the iconic tree sculptures
is Buck Richnold Sia, the bold visionary
and principal architect of Zubu Design
Associates in Cebu.
A graduate from the University of San
Carlos, he earned 9th place in the board
examinations of architecture and began his
career working closely with one of Cebu’s
premiere architects, Alex Medalla. Years of
experience designing and building houses
with Medalla lay the foundation for Buck’s
work today.
Buck follows a modernist philosophy
of architecture and leads his design firm in
applying the international style within the
context of the local culture and climate.
Their designs are not only functional but
also thought- and emotion-provoking,
such as in the case of Parkmall’s Atrium
Park.
As part of their rigorous design
process, Buck took many things into
consideration when creating the indoor
park. Foremost was the client's needs

and requirements. In this case, it was the
vision of James Co, Parkmall's Managing
Director, to have a park within a mall, and
Parkmall's identity of being pet-friendly.
And like his other design projects, Buck
also considered the current “state of
design” their office was evolving in, how
the guests would use the space based on
their movement patterns, and even the
history and background of the previous

space before making his final blueprint. He
took to heart the notion that “nature will
not give you a box” and created irregular
benches that give people opportunities
to sit as they please. This has encouraged
interaction between the space and the
people who use it, and somehow has
made it both an intimate yet public setting.
What was once a box-like water
feature is now a landscape that captures
the essence of Parkmall and enhances the
experience of its guests.
“We see people using the Atrium as a
natural park, doing a lot of activities,” says
Buck. “I see kids’ reaction to be the most
pure. They see the Atrium as an informal
activity space, much like a park should be –
carefree and without restrictions.”
With Buck’s unique view of the world
and his analytical approach to designing
spaces that are not only functional but also
beautiful and people-oriented, Parkmall
is honored to house a space designed by
one of Cebu’s most important architects.

Extreme Aeropark is VisMin's first ever indoor
trampoline park. With 1,700 sqm of interconnected
trampolines, the park offers a wide variety of
physical activities. It houses state-of-the-art
equipment, including two Lasertag Arenas, a
Dodgeball Court, Slam Ball, Wall Climbing, Battle
Beams, Parkour Walls, Bubble Soccer, a Ninja
Arena, a Foam Pit, and a party room.
Trampoline jumping at Extreme Aeropark is not only
for kids who seek thrills, but also for adults who
want to be fit. Studies have shown that 10 minutes
of jumping burns the same number of calories as
30 minutes of jogging. Now that's a fun way to work
out!
With the many enjoyable activities it offers,
Extreme Aeropark is also the perfect venue for
school and company team building activities,
birthday parties, reunions, and other occasions!
Light meals and refreshments are available at the
cafe inside the trampoline park for those who need
to take a quick break. Extra shirts and other
merchandise can also be purchased inside.
Bounce away from your usual routines and have a
great time at Extreme Aeropark!
