Under the Brookfield Logistics Properties umbrella, we are a part of one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated owners, operators and investors in real estate, infrastructure, renewable power, and private equity. “We’re proud to work with an industry-leading retailer like ASDA and are delighted that they shared our vision of a simpler, faster and more efficient logistics network. The system avoids the delays and costs associated with transporting containers across the country and guarantees a more reliable and predictable supply chain.” Frans Calje, Managing Director, Unitised and Portcentric Logistics For further information, please visit: www.brookfieldlogisticsproperties.com CASE STUDY OUR SUSTAINABLE APPROACH DEDICATED RAIL FREIGHT TERMINAL ASDA Wal*Mart is the UK’s second largest supermarket chain with over 500 stores across the UK and a selection of superstores that regularly stock over 35,000 different products making ASDA the fourth largest clothing retailer in the UK. IDI Gazeley’s developments restore and enhance the natural systems of our sites, and provide qualitative improvements for the communities within which we work. Our actions and decisions are open and encourage informed collaboration with our customers. The Teesport estate covers an area of over 700 acres on the South bank of the River Tees, at the heart of which sits a major cargo handling facility. The proximity to this facility was key to the construction and completion in 2006 of a 360,000 sq ft (18 acre site) £20 million build to suit import centre warehouse development by IDI Gazeley for ASDA Wal*Mart with ground lease from PD Ports. This enables 70% of ASDA’s non-food imports to now go directly to the North by sea, saving ASDA more than two million road miles each year helping save £12m per year. It is our belief that environmentally responsible development is assisted by knowledgeable stakeholders, a sharing of learning and opportunity for review and reassessment. Complementing the port and operating from November 2015 within Teesport is a 500m – 700m open access rail terminal running 24/7 with direct links already established with major ports. The rail terminal has the potential to serve Scotland, the North West and the Midlands. IDI Gazeley develop state-of-the-art logistics warehouses that are BREEAM “Excellent” and EPC “A” rated as standard. They provide valuable benefits for our customers, including: ➜ Reduced energy and water usage ➜ Facilities that are cheaper to both operate and maintain ➜ Optimised use of natural daylight ➜ Use of recycled and recyclable materials The rail facility is integrated with Teesport Container Terminal and is capable of handling maritime and domestic traffic. ➜ Open access rail terminal operated by PD Ports ➜ Available from Q4 2014 with intermodal connections between Teesport, Felixstowe and Southampton ➜ Opportunities for establishment of further new routes to Scotland, the Midlands and the North West, expected in 2015 ➜ Opportunities for rail connected warehouses HOME WHY TEESPORT INDICATIVE PLAN BACKGROUND 1,250 EMPLOYEES NAVIS AND DISPATCHER WMS SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT LOCK FREE ACCESS FOR NORTH SEA OVER 1,000 ACRES OF USABLE PD PORTS LOCATION OTHER UK SITES £19M INVESTED IN PORT INFRASTRUCTURE IN 2012 3M SQ.
