A potato masher based on the old
fashioned ski pole (note the cross
stitch detail on the back of the rubber
handle). It has an ergonomic easy to
grip rubber handle that allows you to
hold it from the side or from above.
The mashing plate really works well.
After much testing, we found a design
that pushes the mashed potato away
from the stem to help it mash faster
and self clean. The packaging is our
usual style and it also comes with
Martin’s Swiss grandmother’s recipe
for mashed potato!

cut, or they were not heavy enough to

We created a design that simply works!
The body is made from aluminium,
but has an inner cast iron core and it

After many requests, we finally
adapted the award winning doorstop
design into a bookend! The stainless
steel plate that is fixed to his foot,
ensures that any number of books can
be leant against “James’” outstretched
arm without him slipping over. He can
be used individually or as a pair.

Each year we are proud to take part in Humascale’s ‘Faces in the Wild’ auction. Artists and
designers are asked to contribute a sculpture which is then auctioned off to raise money for
the World Wildlife Fund. Our glass polar bear fetched $35,000.
We have also adapted a Vipp bin and a Playsam car for charity.
We relish the challenge of applying our creativity to one off designs which do not have the
usual market driven contraints. If you would like to involve black+blum in a one off commision,

Our packaging is an extension of our products and is designed to both educate
about the use of the products as well as show them off in the best possible way.
We are always looking at ways to reduce the amount of packaging we use and
make a point of only using unbleached cardboard and other materials which can
