The Ololo vehicle will be there to greet you and game drive you through Nairobi National Park to Ololo Lodge situated on the edge of the park. Ololo Lodge ‘Ololo’ is a family owned safari lodge, which combines the atmosphere and style of bush living while offering all the convenience and amenities of a city hotel. Set on twenty acres with beautiful established old gardens, Ololo is picturesquely positioned on the banks of the Mbagathi River on the southern border of the Nairobi National Park. Ololo’s partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service allows us full park access. Guests can be transferred to both international and local airports, avoiding the notorious city traffic and at the same time can experience the delights of one of the world’s more unique national parks. The Lodge’s convenient location, home-style warmth and comfort as well as their attention to detail in such a beautiful bush setting, are hallmarks of the Ololo experience. Days 2, 3, 4, 5 - Ithumba Hills Lodge - Tsavo East After a leisurely breakfast at Ololo, take a game drive to Wilson Airport where you will board your private charter to Tsavo. Ithumba Hill Lodge is a self-catering camp, where your food and drinks will be taken care of by the New African Territories team. The lodge is a property of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and the focus is on reintroducing baby elephants back into the wild. Your first afternoon will be spent with these babies, followed by sundowners. Your stay will afford you the opportunity to meet the warden, and get to know the elephants’ routine: they come in for mud-baths and milk mid-morning, and return to their stockades at night, yielding plenty of scope for spending time with them. Game drives and walking safaris showcase the beauty of Tsavo East: truly spectacular wilderness dotted with rocky kopjes and the majestic Tiva River provide the setting for seeking out big old elephant bulls, and picnics along the Galana River. Days 6, 7, 8 – Sabuk Lodge – 3 nights After breakfast drive to Manyani airstrip just a short drive away, for your private chartered flight to Loisaba. The Sabuk vehicle will be there to greet you and game drive you to the lodge. Sabuk Lodge Sabuk Lodge is perched on the side of a river valley overlooking the cascading Ewaso Nyiro River. Open-fronted cottages have fabulous views and huge comfortable olive beds; brightly coloured local fabrics and artefacts adorn the walls. Delicious cuisine and tranquil decks invite some serious relaxation. Northern Laikipia is home to thousands of elephant, greater kudu and the elusive, endangered African Wild Dog. This is a great opportunity to explore and walk close to wildlife guided by magnificent Laikipiak tribesmen sharing their local knowledge. Take one of the days to go on a camel walk with a picnic lunch, and if you wish to camp out for a night under the stars there is a comfortable fly-camp that can accommodate you. The Sabuk team have been leading camel safaris in this area for over 20 years, and it is a wonderful way to explore the bush. Visit a colourful Samburu village and be entertained by their dances representing courtship and celebration. Days of adventure await walking amongst herds, quietly absorbing the sights & sounds of the bush. Surprise bush breakfasts, camel safaris, picnics, game viewing, star studded nights, river fishing and experiencing the bush-craft & skills of the wonderful Laikipiak Maasai.
