FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BLANEY...
This has been a very difficult spring. Every year we plant 200 new trees – 100 black walnut and
100 red oak. In due time, they will be harvested for the wood and should provide for the cost of
all our food for each year; in due time. This year it was difficult to determine when to plant. But
they are in the ground, covered with mulch and a protective tube; marked with a stake and watered.
Our villagers do a fine job!
Mother’s Day
I remember one Mother’s Day long past, in the early 40’s. My father gave me a ten dollar bill and
told me to get something for my Mother. Remember in those days there was a store by the name
of Penney’s. Today there is a store by the name of Dollar General. Well I went to a store and
bought my Mother $5 worth of candy. My Mother had a sweet tooth. (Maybe that’s where I
acquired my sweet tooth.) What for to spend the other $5? Well there was a toy set of a bow and arrows that I thought that anyone would
love. And I saw lots of Mother’s Day cards with cupids holding a bow and arrow. Well that gift did not go over at all. In fact, she
reminded me of that almost every Mother’s Day that she was alive.
Mothers are very often thinking of helping their family, not seeking something for themselves. Your mother deserves something just for
her! Maybe it doesn’t have to be a thing. Maybe just good company. Maybe an exciting card game.

SUMMER CAMP STAFF
The sun has been shining and the days are warmer so summer can’t be far behind so it’s time to look forward to our annual summer camp for other
abled adults and we are seeking some dedicated, caring individuals to serve as camp staff. We need nurses, cooks and camp counselors to nurture
and protect our campers so they can have a meaningful experience. Camp Sharing Meadows is a special place because in addition to traditional
activities like campfires and swimming, we provide a values retreat where each person becomes more aware of God’s presence in their lives as they
are valued for their unique gifts. Our staff find it to be a truly memorable encounter with the realization that they are making a difference in each
campers life.
Camp runs for 6 consecutive weeks with a new group of campers attending each week. Camp begins on June 8 and runs through July 11. Come for

THOUGHTS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

One of our villagers likes to talk (come to think of it, many of them like to talk but this story is about one in particular) and he has a tendency to begin
sentences with “My mother said……..or “My mother told me….or “My mother thinks………..It’s touching to hear him speak because since his
mother passed away a few years ago, he has changed his opening line to “When my mother was still living, she said………… His mother was a
loving, nurturing person and I’m happy that he continues to honor her by listening and remembering what she said to him. He is a gentle, loving
person and his kindness it a credit to his mother and the values she instilled in him.
Sometimes I find myself saying something and then realizing that I just quoted my mother. When I was growing up I didn’t always appreciate
everything she did for me but as I grow older, I think of her more and more and I am grateful for her unconditional love and sacrifices. My wish for
all of you is that your children realize how blessed they are to have you for their mother and that they show you their love and appreciation.

SPRING LUNCHEON
The sun was shining, the sky was a vibrant
blue and spring was definitely in the air for
the 23rd annual Spring Luncheon held last
month at the Halls of St. George. The ladies
of Share Foundation’s Service League hosted
the event and all of our guests would agree
that their love and dedication was evident in
each aspect of the celebration. The spring
flowers and pastel wrapped gifts on each table
set the mood as our guests sat down to enjoy
entertainment by the villagers, a delicious

Over one hundred gift baskets were awarded as Balestra delivers a gift
prizes and each one was lovingly and artistically designed by League members Judy Gresko and MaryAnn Markovich. Each basket to a happy
winner.
League member baked cookies, breads, cakes and other treats that were offered for sale and the villagers offered their handmade
items for sale. The Silent Auction offered many unique items that were beautifully displayed at the entrance. Many people contributed to make the
Luncheon a success and we thank all of them. We’d like to offer
our gratitude to the good people at the Duneland Resale Shop in
Chesterton who donated $1,500 to the event. God bless them!

The annual Share Classic golf outing is set for Monday, June 23rd at the beautiful Long Beach Country Club golf course and we are looking forward
to another great day of golf, food and fellowship while supporting the residential program at Sharing Meadows. All who attended last year raved
about the golf course and the hospitality shown to us by the Long Beach Country Club so we are delighted to be returning this year. Chairperson
Tony McCrovitz and his committee are hard at work planning this event and all you need to do is gather your foursome. A registration form is

that our policy is that thank you letters
and acknowledgement cards are not
sent for any memorials received that are
less than $10.00 per name. They will be
printed in the GOOD NEWS but no
cards or letters will be sent. Due to the
increasing cost of paper, postage and
time to send cards and letters, it is not
good stewardship to spend the
donations you have entrusted to us to
fill mailboxes with mail.
Memorial donations of $10.00 or
more per name will continue to be
handled with a thank you letter,
acknowledgement to family and listing
in the newsletter. If you do not require a
thank you letter, please mark the
envelope so that we can code your
account and we can save the cost of a
letter and use the funds for our
programs for other abled people. Thank
you for your understanding!

memorials are due by the 15th of each
month in order to be printed in the
following month’s GOOD NEWS. For
example, if you want to have a
memorial printed in the May issue,
your memorial needs to arrive in our
