WHY SHOULD I STAY AT THE
HOST HOTEL?
In order to provide great rates
to attendees and to keep the costs
of the meeting down, FNS must
agree to fulfill a certain number
of sleeping rooms at the host hotel during the meeting dates. If
meeting attendees book rooms at
hotels other than the meeting hotel
or outside the room block and the
associations are not able to fill a
high percentage of the contracted
sleeping rooms, penalties and
special attrition charges for rooms
not filled become the financial responsibility of the organizations.
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT ME
AS AN ATTENDEE?
If more meeting attendees
choose to stay at alternative hotels or book rooms at rates that
are outside the block, this forces
FNS to book less sleeping rooms
while utilizing the same amount
of meeting space. This increases
the costs of operating the event
resulting in higher attendance
fees. We’re working hard to keep

This presentation will provide attendees with an instructional and hands-on experience on the
subject area of Esthetic Development Techniques for All-Ceramic Restoration material. Program
focuses include:
• Anterior YZ substructures by utilizing special esthetics buildup techniques with the application of PFZ
materials
• Instruct shading, staining, and glaze system
• Introduce Cercon HT Full Contour material
• Instruction and demo of Celtra material Stain and Glaze System
Dentsply will provide one anterior framework for porcelain application and one posterior Full Contour for
staining and glazing. All items will be provided by Dentsply except technician should bring your own
porcelain brushes.
CASEY MILLER, CDT is currently employed with DENTSPLY Prosthetics as a Technical Specialist with over
21 years of diverse experience in the dental industry. Casey is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and has training and experience assisting dentists and technicians in all areas of dental specialties, including dentures,
partials, and crown and bridge. He is a graduate in Basic Prosthetics and Advanced Dental Technology with
honors from the School of Navy Dental Technology. Casey has managed dental clinics and laboratories
during his time in the Navy that specialized in removable, fixed, and full mouth reconstruction cases. Upon
retirement from the U.S. Navy in April, 2008, Casey joined the Prosthetics Technical Department and will be
training and lecturing at both of our Technical Centers, and throughout the United States. Casey is a Certified Dental Technician.

Throughout the years, restorative trends and techniques have come and gone. Some material developments have transformed the face of aesthetic dentistry, while other initial concepts
have phased out and died. Yet the concept of digital dentistry is one that started out small, and
has progressively increased in momentum until its boundaries appear to have become endless.
As dentistry evolves into the digital world, the successful incorporation of computerization and
new technology will continue to provide more efficient methods of communication and fabrication while at the same time retaining the individual creativity and artistry of the skilled dental
technician, and the utilization of new technology will enhance the close cooperation and working
relationship of the dentist/technician team. The evolution from hand waxing to digital design, using the diagnostic wax-up and provisional restorations, and their digital replicas to guide us in the creation of CAD/CAM
restorations will be presented. The most exciting factor surrounding these technologies is not, however, only
in the potential applications of these technologies that are being hypothesized by dental professionals. The
excitement truly lies in the fact that these “hypothetical” applications are currently being developed today, and
some are even in the final stages of development. These advancements are not, therefore, something that
will “eventually” emerge in the market, they are realities that are currently being released to further revolutionize the quality of dental care that is being delivered in modern restorative dentistry. This exciting multimedia
presentation will offer participants a unique insight into the replication of natural esthetics while focusing on
proper function and occlusal harmony using CAD/CAM technology. Participants will learn a format for achieving that often-elusive goal of pleasing the patient, dentist, and ceramist with creative ceramic artistry and
predictable restorative dentistry.
This presentation is aimed to both technicians and their dentist clients. Aspects to be covered include
adapting conventional techniques to CAD/CAM technology; dentist/technician communication; intra-oral
scanning; digital implant, planning, surgical guides, final restorations; restorative material choices; esthetics
and function; diagnostic treatment planning; digital diagnostic wax up; digital temporary restorations; milling
vs. printing; and cultural vs. technological changes.
LEE CULP, CDT is the CEO of Sculpture Studios, a dental laboratory, education, research, and product
development center for new and innovative digital dental technologies and their applied applications to
diagnostic, restorative, and surgical dentistry. He is the 2007 recipient of the Kenneth Rudd Award from
the American Society of Prosthodontics, the 2007 recipient of the AACD Presidents Award for Excellence
in Dental Education, the 2003 recipient of the National Association of Dental Laboratories, Excellence in
Education Award, and the 2013 American College of Prosthodontics-Dental Technician Leadership Award,
as well as the 2014 Spectrum Publishing-Lifetime Achievement award. Lee has also been appointed adjunct
professor the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, Graduate Prosthetics Department. He is a
leading resource/inventor for many of the materials, products, and techniques used in dentistry today and
holds numerous patents for his ideas and products. Lee writes many articles per year. His writing, photography, and teaching style have brought him international recognition as one of today’s most exciting lecturers
and innovative artisans in the specialty of digital dentistry, dental ceramics and functional esthetics.
DR. LIDA SWANN received her DDS in 2002 from Colegio Universitario Colombiano and her Master in
Prosthodontics from the University of North Carolina in 2014. She is currently the UNC Dental Implant Fellow where she focuses on implant research and applications of digital technology on implant placement and
restorative procedures. Dr. Swann was the Clinical Trainer at D4D Technologies, where she was responsible for clinical education and documentation of all clinical procedures necessary for success with the E4D
system. Her educational focus is on proper tooth preparation and tissue management for CAD/CAM restorations, as well as materials science with regard to cementation and restorative materials options. In addition
to those responsibilities, she was also Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Dentistry where she focused
on utilization of various intraoral scanners in predoctoral education at their advanced technology clinic. Dr.
Swann lectures nationally and internationally on CAD/CAM technology and other topics related to restorative dentistry. She has presented lectures for several dental associations like the American Prosthodontic
Society and The American College of Prosthodontics. She has also written several journal articles detailing
proper clinical techniques for clinical implementation of digital dentistry.

RESTORATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THE FULLY
EDENTULOUS IMPLANT PATIENT

The extensive “direct-to-the-public” marketing of the “teeth-in-a-day” concept has sparked a
landslide of interest and demand from patients. This course is designed to bring an understanding of the techniques required of the restorative team from pre-surgical planning to delivery of the
appropriate restoration to meet the physiological needs of each specific patient. The discussion
will include an overview of current digital diagnostic and fabrication technologies.
At the conclusion of this program, the participant should understand the protocol for working a
case up for pre-surgical diagnosis and planning; be aware of the different prosthetic options available to meet a variety of vertical space scenarios; understand the clinical techniques required to
impress, provide appropriate records, try-in and deliver the immediate prosthesis; understand
the protocols required to complete both provisional and definitive restorations; have knowledge
of CAD/CAM fabrication services available for sub-structure fabrication; have knowledge of the
development and clinical value of Linear Occlusion; and understand the use and value of unique
resin technologies in the fabrication of this type of restoration.
DAVID AVERY, CDT received his AAS degree in Dental Laboratory Technology from Durham
Technical College in Durham, North Carolina in 1976. He actively teaches undergraduate and
post-graduate dental students at several universities.

Inc. Gary began lecturing on health and safety in 1989 and is an Authorized Trainer under
OSHA’s Outreach Program. Gary is also a certified DAMAS consultant and auditor. He is a Certified Dental Technician who, along with his wife Claudia, owned Morgan Dental Laboratory in
Austin, Texas from 1975 until 2007. Active in the Dental Laboratory Association of Texas, Gary
served on the Board of Directors for eight years and as President for both 1994 and 1995. As
Legislative and Legal Affairs Chairman for DLAT 1987-2008, Gary represented members before
governmental agencies, the State Board of Dental Examiners, and the Texas Legislature. Gary
was appointed by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners to serve on the Dental Laboratory
Certification Council from 2007-2013 and was elected Chairman in 2008. In 2008, NADL presented Gary with a Merit Award in Recognition of Contributions and Outstanding Service to the
Dental Laboratory Profession and in 2009 he was honored with the DLAT Hall of Fame Award.

taken to facilitate efficient processing of cases with implant-retained substructures based on your
preferred processing technique (injection, pack, or pour).
The course will also introduce Shofu’s TRINIA™ as a metal-free alternative for implant-retained
appliances. TRINIA™ is a lightweight, biocompatible material that obtains its tremendous durability and resiliency from multi-directional, interlacing layers of fiberglass and resin. TRINIA™ can
be milled on most leading wet or dry milling systems.

Innovations in digital dental technology, such as milling and 3D printing, have greatly expanded the range of products available through the digital workflow. Where labs
used to consider milled Zirconia crowns the extent of their digital restorations, options
now include products in every stage of a case from intraoral scan to final restoration. This clinic
will explain that “digital” now encompasses all products from digital models and PMMA temps
to custom abutments and full gold crowns. Labs will learn the benefits of incorporating products
such as completely digital PFMs produced with Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology. They
will also learn how to transform their current production processes to a completely digital workflow
and cross-train or reassign talented human resources to maximize production and output.
