Exceeding Great and Precious Promises

Exceeding Great and Precious Promises
Exceeding Great and Precious Promises
“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge
of God, and of Jesus our Lord, according as his divine power hath
given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the
knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: whereby are
given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye
might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption
that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:2-4).
The phrase, “exceeding great and precious promises,” serves as
the theme for this year’s convention. During the week we will hear
music and messages that explore incredible promises God gives us in
the Bible. As we listen may we keep in mind:
• The SOURCE of these promises. When Peter refers to that which
“hath been given unto us,” he is talking about something that
comes from outside of ourselves. The context of the passage
makes it clear the “giver” of these promises is none other than
God Himself. “His divine power hath given unto us all things
that pertain unto life and godliness.”
• The SIZE of these promises. The words “exceeding great” are
translated from a single Greek word. The English equivalent
is “mega” and is used to describe something super colossal
or extraordinarily huge. So then, it is clear these promises fall
outside the scope of any promise a mere mortal can make. Only
God makes mega promises.
• The SIGNIFICANCE of these promises. The word “precious”
means “costly or very expensive.” The significance of these
promises is seen in the fact that countless individuals down
through the years have staked their very souls and eternal
destinies upon them. They have given their entire life to Christian service based upon them and died believing they are true.
Therefore, these promises are very significant!
Hopefully your faith will be strengthened this week. When we
leave Cincinnati, may we all be standing on the promises of God!

Exhibitor Giveaway Policy
The Free Will Baptist convention offers giveaways. Two types of
prizes are described below:
1. Booth Prizes
Each exhibitor will be allowed to give away a maximum of three
door prizes per day (a total of nine in three days). Exhibitors have
established their own criteria for winning, although no purchase is
necessary. Winners’ names will be posted on a bulletin board near the
exhibit hall entrance.
2. Exhibit Hall Prizes
Several exhibitors have donated items to be given away as exhibit
hall prizes.
Attendees will receive three prize forms in their registration packet,
one form for each exhibit day. Each person will be responsible for
obtaining a series of signatures or stamps from various locations in
the exhibit hall. You will be required to visit various sections on a daily
25
basis. When your form has been completed, place it in the collection
drum located near the entrance of the exhibit hall by the time indicated
on the form. A daily drawing will be held to distribute one-third of the
donated prize items.
Forms will be discarded after each day’s drawing. Lost or stolen
forms will not be replaced. Only one form may be entered per person
per day.
