JULY 2014
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
By: Harold Goldberg
“I am extremely grateful for many things here, but as time moves on,
I realize the true importance of good neighbors and loyal friends.”
Happy 4th! In true Wynmoor tradition the celebration returns to the Main Pool this year. Join us at
11:00 AM for an All American 4th of July party. Enjoy a hotdog/soda combo for $1.00 while listening
to live music presented by DJ Alan Lit, soak up a little sun and then cool o in the crystal blue waters
of your beautiful swimming pool. In keeping with the real meaning of “Independence Day”, and as
they always do with such great patriotism, Wynmoor’s own American Legion Post #170 will provide us
with a color guard.
Great entertainment at a greater price! The $5.00 show ticket is back for the summer! For those of
you (I hope there are not too many) that have not experienced the joy of live entertainment at our state
of the art Theatre, this is the perfect opportunity to see what you’ve been missing! Take advantage of
this seasonal promotion; buy your ticket(s) and let yourself be entertained! See the great lineup for
July on the inside back cover of this issue. While you’re at it, you may want to check out the movie
schedule as well. A matinee is a great way to escape the midday heat and a good distraction from the
everyday hassles we all deal with. Immerse yourself in a good movie and enjoy a short respite from
reality!

the main entrance to Wynmoor Village, home to a versatile community where the good life awaits.

boundaries. Upon its completion, there is no doubt the overall appearance of the entire Parkway will be
extraordinary.
And now that the inconvenience of the gate closing is behind us, we can all relax a bit more and return
our focus to the laid back environment that is synonymous with the Wynmoor lifestyle.
I am extremely grateful for many things here, but as time moves on, I realize the true importance of
good neighbors and loyal friends. Most of us chose to move to “paradise” following our many years of

for our futures. Although we were ready to move on, or thought we were, many of us found our new
phase of life to be a hard adjustment. After all, we separated from our families; children and
grandchildren as well as old and dear friends. It was hard, harder than we thought it would be. And
yet, I don’t think we realized how fortunate we were. We met our neighbors; warm and friendly
people. We went to the pool, the Theatre, I played golf, we joined a club; wherever we went we
continued to meet new people, people we liked, people we began to socialize with. These new
‘friends’ were just like us, entering a new phase in their life. They received us enthusiastically and so
we built strong and rewarding relationships.

JULY 2014
A D M I N I S T R AT O R ’ S M E S S A G E
By: Bruce Bandler
“One of our primary goals is to stress that we can always do better.”
Some of you and hopefully so, may have noticed the changing format of our beloved “News & Views”. Over
the years, Wynmoor’s own current events magazine has grown in popularity, has expanded in size and has
greatly improved its quality of content. Some of these changes have been subtle, while others are more
apparent.
Take for instance, the ‘Activity Schedule’; this 2-full page tear-out calendar was an immediate success as
our Recreation Oce can attest to. Many phone calls directed to their oce are in direct reference to an
event or activity on the calendar. I’m counting on you to notice the revised layout of this message column.
) &)(!,7)&/'(8 *, -)." ."*,-#(.( ()1"0)/, )1( *! ")*3)/9(."#-'),
attractive as well as easier to read.
Have you had a chance to visit Wynmoor’s new and improved website? Introducing Wynmoorlife.com, an
updated, ‘user friendly’ way to research and enjoy all things Wynmoor. Many seasonal residents pay a small
fee to have a copy of News & Views mailed to their ‘away’ address. Although some of us will continue to
prefer a hard copy, you may want to know that News & Views is available online and yes; for your
convenience, this includes the Event Sheet!
We do realize that not all residents own a computer, have access to a computer, are computer literate and
by choice they don’t want to be! For those of you and, in fact, there are many; not to worry. All online
materials will continue to be available in print and/or on Wynmoor TV!
Speaking of TV; you may have noticed that Channel 99 has been, shall we say stagnant? This is to inform
you that we’re on summer hiatus. We’re in the midst of decision making; deciding which programming will
return and brainstorming about the development of new entertainment. We’re looking for a lineup that will
be interesting, informative and relevant to our Wynmoor population.
This will also be good timing for the TV studio to undergo a much needed facelift. I think we will be greatly
#'*,-- .) 9( .". $/-.&#..& *#(. ( -)'(1%,)*- ( ,.)." '), ..,.#0(
more professional setting in which to produce and introduce the new TV 99.
The entire sta is always encouraged to set the standard high. One of our primary goals is to stress that we
can always do better. We continue to search for ways to improve the operation as a whole and I am proud to
say, my sta does not disappoint. Our ongoing slogan refers to our “greatest asset in Wynmoor”; our
residents”. Of course, this is true; however, Wynmoor has another great asset and I may be so bold as to
say; “Wynmoor’s wonderful sta is an asset to this great community as well”.
This particular message focuses on our extremely talented and creative Recreation Department. Their
tireless dedication is directly responsible for the many improvements and upgrades to News & Views, to our
website and to the work being done to bring Channel 99 to a new level of professionalism. They have
expanded the general curriculum, adding a variety of classes and introducing new activities such as the
‘Cove’, an instant hit among residents.
May I extend a special thank you to another great asset in
Wynmoor!
