Overview This document describes the setup, installation and configuration of devices used with the Cash Register System. The following devices are covered below Cash Drawers Multi-function Receipt Printers Credit Card Scanners (MSR – Magnetic Swipe Reader) Pole Displays 2.) Supported Hardware The UPN Cash Register System can be run with any combination of cash drawer, receipt printer, credit card scanner, PIN Pad and pole display provided the device is supported. It can also be run without these devices. The following hardware components are supported 2a) Cash Drawers APG Series 100 Cash Drawer Model 1616 2b) Multi-function Receipt Printers Epson TM-H6000III Multi-function Printer includes Receipt Printing, Endorsement Printing, Check scanning and MICR Reading functions. 2c) Credit Card Scanners (MSR) IDTECH DEL3331-33UB (Note: For XP 64 bit desktops, Cherry SPOS Qwerty keyboard will be required in lieu of IDTECH DEL3331-33UB as Credit card scanner). Ingenico i3070 (If Utility is using DEBIT CARDS, this will be only credit/debit card scanner that will be required). Cherry SPOS QWERTY Keyboard. Note: Please do not use the IDTECH DEL3331-33UB and the Ingenico i3070 devices on a same machine. Note: IDTECH DEL3331-33UB cannot be used on XP 64 bit machines as it is not supported by the vendor. 2d) Pole Displays Logic Controls LD9900UP Important: With the above specified hardware a drawer can only be operated through a printer and henceforth a printer needs to be installed before configuring a drawer. Connection between a printer, drawer and the workstation is specified below. 2 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 2e) Supported Operating Systems Windows XP Professional 32 bit with SP3 version 2002 Windows XP Professional 64 bit with SP2 (except IDTECH DEL3331-33UB) Windows Vista Business 32 bit with SP1 Windows Vista Business 64 bit Windows 7 Professional 32bit Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit 3.) Before you begin This section describes the prerequisites for setup and connection of the devices. Prerequisites: The user logging into workstation should have 1. Administrative privileges with complete access to the machine & 2. UPN security to the Drawer File Maintenance and Test Devices in the Cash Register System in order to add, configure, and test the devices. It is recommended to have at least 6 USB ports to accommodate all required and potential future expansion for the devices. 1. Printer and Drawer require 1 USB port. 2. Credit Card scanner (MSR)/Ingenico Pin Pad will require 1 USB port. 3. Desktop USB Mouse will require 1 USB port. 4. Desktop USB Keyboard will require 1 USB port. 5. Pole display (optional if utility plans to use it) will require 1 USB port. 6. Barcode Scanner (optional if utility plans to use it) requires 1 USB port. If receipt printer is being installed you will need an additional power outlet. Required Items in addition to the devices: For Receipt Printer – power cord, USB 2.0 A/B cable and thermal paper roll. For Cash Drawer – RJ45 to RJ12 cable (used to connect drawer to printer). Before you begin installation of the devices on a PC: 1. Create all Cash Drawer, Receipt Printer, MICR Reader and Check Scanner devices and assign logical names in Cash Register -> Drawer FM ->Device FM screen. 3 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 2. Assign the devices to the desired Drawer (create one if needed using Add Drawer) in Cash Register -> Drawer FM screen. Information regarding the device names will be required as part of driver installation process. 3. Please do NOT connect the devices unless and until prompted to do so during the installation procedure. If not prompted during installation procedure, connect the devices only after installation is complete and the system is restarted. 4. If Credit Card Scanner or Pole Display Device are being installed you will need these devices for installation, as device needs to be connected during installation procedure. 5. The user needs to login to the workstation as an Administrator. 6. Before beginning the setup and installation, copy “CashRegisterDeviceDrivers.zip” from the location \\<your_UPNservername>\Services\CashRegisterDeviceDrivers on the server to the C:\ drive of the workstation. 7. Extract the contents of the CashRegisterDeviceDrivers.zip to C:\CashRegisterDeviceDrivers folder. Note: Do not forget to extract the drivers as running a batch file from a zipped folder may not work. 4 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 8. Make sure the folder C:\CashRegisterDeviceDrivers contains the necessary files as shown below. Preparing the printer: 9. Using the USB 2.0 A/B cable plug the square end of the cable to the back of the printer, do NOT plug in the other end into the computer at this point. 10. Now connect the power cord to the back of the printer, into a port named DC24V and the other end into an outlet. 11. Load the printer with the thermal paper. 5 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services If a drawer is needed: 12. Plug in the RJ45 end of the RJ45-RJ12 cable into the port provided on the bottom of the cash drawer and plug the other end into the port named DK (Drawer Kickout) on the back of the Printer. 13. The following sections (4, 5) describe the installation and configuration of the devices and include notes on testing these devices from UPN. 6 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4.) Installing Device Drivers Note: Please ensure that no cash register devices are connected to the computer at this point. Location: C:\CashRegisterDeviceDrivers 1. If using an XP machine double click or if using a Windows 7/Vista machine right click and select “Run as administrator” on the Silent Install.bat file under C:\CashRegisterDeviceDrivers, to start installing the Device drivers in order. Note: This step may take several minutes depending on your machine configuration. 2. During the installation process when the below window appears the user can select the devices needed and specify the logical names of those devices as provided in Drawer FM. Please ensure the logical names provided on the installation screen are exactly same as the assigned device logical names for the Drawer ID in Cash Register -> Drawer FM. After the user provides valid names for the selected devices and hits the Configure button, the below window should appear. Click OK. Note: If installing on XP-64 bit machine please skip steps 4 - 11 and proceed to step 12. 4. If the workstation is not an XP 64 bit machine then based on the user input for the question “Is the utility processing debit cards (Y/N) (default is no)?” drivers for IDTECH Credit Card Scanner will be installed. If Y is selected please proceed to step 12. 5. If N is selected, the drivers for the IDTECH Credit Card Scanner are installed and the user is prompted to connect the device to the computer and press Enter. 6. After a brief delay of 5 secs the MagSwipe Configuration Utility is launched automatically, press the “CHANGE BASIC READER SETTINGS” button. 8 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 7. In the next window on the “General Settings” tab, press “Load from file” button. 8. Browse to the location C:\CashRegisterDeviceDrivers, select the MiniMagConfig.cfs2 file and hit Open button. 9. The user should get the “Load configuration from file successfully.” message, press OK. 9 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 10. Now press “Send to MSR” button and then hit OK after below message is displayed. 11. Now press the EXIT button to close the configuration utility and continue with the installation. 12. If debit cards are being processed by the utility then follow the instruction manual PINPad Installation and Configuration Guide for installing PINPad drivers after this installation. 13. In this step, the user has an option to choose if a Pole Display is being used on that workstation. Default value will be N. 14. If the user chooses to install Pole display and Y is selected, the driver installation will start. When prompted on the screen, connect the pole display device to the machine and press ‘Enter’ key. Note for installation on XP machines: When the pole display is connected, it launches the Found New Hardware wizard. Close this “Found New Hardware” dialog to proceed with the installation and follow section 4b after restarting the machine. 15. Please follow the onscreen instructions and restart your workstation before connecting the rest of the devices. Note that the installation is not complete yet. 17. If using printer and/or drawer on a XP machine (32/64 bit), to complete the installation please proceed to the section 4a below. on a Windows 7 or Vista machine (32/64 bit), to complete the installation please proceed to the section 4c below 18. If using Pole Display Device on a XP machine (32/64 bit), to complete the installation please proceed to the section 4b below. on a Windows 7 or Vista machine (32/64 bit), to complete the installation please proceed to the section 4d below. 19. If none of the above two steps (17, 18) are required, the installation is complete, proceed to section 5 for testing the devices. If the installation has errors, follow the below steps. 1.Restart the machine 2.Run uninstall.bat indicated in Section 6. 3.Restart the machine 4.Run install.bat indicated in section 4. 5.If the problem persists, please call SEDC technical support. 11 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4a) Connecting Printers and/or drawers on XP machines: After restarting the machine connect the printer to the workstation and power it on (the POWER light on the printer glows if connected and powered on correctly) and follow the below procedure. Note: Close the Found New Hardware window if it launches automatically. 4a.1) Keeping the device plugged in launch Computer Management window by right clicking on My Computer and select Manage. 4a.2) On the left pane select Device Manager. 12 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4a.3) You can find the EPSON device under Other Devices or under the Universal Serial Bus controllers. 4a.4) Right click on this element and select Update Driver this should launch the Hardware Update Wizard. 4a.5) Select “No, not this time” and hit Next. 13 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4a.6) Select “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and click Next. 4a.7) Choose “Search for the best drivers in these locations”, uncheck the “Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM…)”, check the “Include this location in the search.” 14 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4a.8) Browse to the location “C:\Program Files\EPSON\OPOS for .NET\TMUSB\TMUSBXP” for 32 bit machines and “C:\Program Files<x86>\EPSON\OPOS for .NET\TMUSB\TMUSB64” for 64 bit machines, click OK. 4a.9) Click Next. 15 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4a.10) Only on XP 64 bit machines do you get the below window, press Continue Anyway. 4a.11) Please wait until the drivers are installed. 4a.12) Press Finish in the next window to complete the installation and the printer is ready for use. 4a.13) Return to section 4 point 18. 16 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4b) Connecting Pole Displays on XP machines: After restarting the machine please follow the steps below. Note: Close the Found New Hardware window if it launches automatically. 4b.1) Keeping the device plugged launch Computer Management window by right clicking on My Computer and select Manage. 4b.2) Select Device Manager from the left pane and expand the Ports (COM & LPT) to find the pole display device as LCI Line Display (\\.\LCLD9\) (COMX). 4b.3) Right click on this element and select Update Driver. 17 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4b.4) Select “No, not this time.” and hit Next. 4b.5) Select “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and hit Next. 18 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4b.6) Make sure the “Search for the best driver in these locations” is selected and the path for the location is given as “C:\PROGRAM FILES\LOGICCONTROLS\LINE DISPLAY USB DRIVERS\XP_DRIVERS” for 32 bit machines and for 64 bit machine provide the path as “C:\PROGRAM FILES<x86>\LOGICCONTROLS\LINE DISPLAY USB DRIVERS\XP_DRIVERS” and hit Next. 4b.7) Wait for the installation to complete and then hit the Finish button. 4b.8) Please return to section 4 point 19. 19 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4c) Connecting Printers and/or drawers on Vista and Windows 7 machines: After restarting the machine connect the printer to the workstation and power it on (the POWER light on the printer glows if connected and powered on correctly), and follow the below procedure. Note: Close the Found New Hardware window if it launches automatically. 4d.1) Keeping the device plugged launch Computer Management window by right clicking on Computer and select Manage. 4d.2) Select Device Manager from the left pane and expand the Ports (COM & LPT) to find the pole display device as LCI Line Display (\\.\LCLD9\) (COMX). 4d.3) Right click on this element and select Update Driver. 24 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4d.4) Press “Browse my computer for driver software”. 4d.5) In this window make sure that “Include subfolders” is checked. 25 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4d.6) Browse to the location “C:\Program Files\LogicControls\Line display USB Drivers” and click OK. 4d.7) Click Next and wait for the drivers to get installed completely. 26 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 4d.8) Hit Close in the next window and the pole display is ready for use. 4d.9) Return to section 4 point 19. 27 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 5.) Device Set up and Testing the devices from UPN The installed devices need to be added through the Devices screen, accessed from the Drawer File Maintenance, Devices menu item in Cash Register system. Uninstalling Device Drivers 1.) Double click if using a XP machine or right click and select “Run as administrator” on the Uninstall.bat file to start Uninstalling Device drivers one after the other. 2.) After successfully uninstalling all the drivers the screen should display as below for machines other than XP 64-bit. For XP 64-bit machines 3.) The device can now be disconnected. 4.) Please follow the instruction and restart the machine before trying to install anything again. 30 09/20/10 Cash Register Installation & Configuration Guide SEDC Technical Services 7) Troubleshooting Printers/drawers and Pole Displays: Printers/drawers: In the event of printer/drawer drivers not installed correctly or the printer/drawer does not respond through UPN please follow the below procedure to update the printer drivers. a) On XP machines: Repeat steps 4a.1) through 4a.12) in section 4a) Connecting Printers and/or drawers on XP machines b) On Windows 7 and Vista machines: Repeat steps 4c.1) through 4c.9) in section 4c) Connecting Printers and/or drawers on Vista and Windows 7 machines Pole Displays: In the event of pole display device drivers not installed correctly or the pole display does not respond through UPN please follow the below procedure to update the pole display drivers. a) On XP machines: Repeat steps 4b.1) through 4b.7) in section 4b) Connecting Pole Displays on XP machines b) On Windows 7 and Vista machines: Repeat steps 4d.1) through 4d.8) in section 4d) Connecting Pole Displays on Vista and Windows 7 machines 31 09/20/10
