The Fan
District is
one of the
largest
designated
historic
residential
areas in
the United

In the 1920s,
Jackson Ward
was known
as the
Harlem of
the South. Its
ornamental
ironworks
are said to be
second only
to New
Orleans.
Along the narrow, shaded streets of Church Hill are river and city
vistas, lush parks, brick sidewalks, gas lanterns and ornate ironwork
that add to the neighborhood’s appeal.
