achieving Silver Level for the Journey to
Excellence (JTE) Program for 2015.

SILVER.

The largest Challenger’s Baseball League in the Midwest
10 teams: 6 Junior Teams ages 4 – 18 and 4 Senior Teams ages 18 and up with 12 to 15 players per
team
Each team player is paired with a buddy. The buddy shadows the player by helping with helmets and
bats, running bases and fielding. Need approximately 70 – 80 Scouts. Need 2 adult leaders per unit.
Unit commitments are needed no later than May 1st. Contact Larry Wegner,

From Noon to 3 PM
Cost $3/Scout, $4/Swimming Adult - payable at the front desk
Leaders from each unit are responsible for watching their
Scouts. Please have at least one leader for every 5 Scouts.

Boy Scout Troops and Venture Crews:
Summer Camp is just a few months away. Time to think about
setting up a swim test for your Troop or Crew
•
•
•

Test for your unit at either Bartlett or Elgin Rec Centers. Evenings preferred.
The BSA Requirements are below. NOTE the emphasis on swimming in a
strong manner. That means clear, recognizable, proper strokes and not being
exhausted at the end of the swim. Adults will be held to the same standard.
Jump feet first into water over the head in depth. Level off and swim 75 yards in
a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke,
breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl. Then swim 25 yards using an easy, resting
backstroke. The 100 yards must be completed in one swim without stops and
must include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by
floating.

When: May 21, 2016 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Who: Adults and Youth 14 and up or accompanied by paying adult
Why: Course will provide expert instruction on building wood fires and
Dutch oven cooking. Bring Dutch oven, notepad and pencil and if
possible Dutch oven stand. Must wear Field Shirt aka “Class A”.

When: April 16, 2016 Registration 8:00 AM, Closing Devotion at 4:00 pm
Who: Tigers, Wolves, Bears & Webelos and Boy Scouts that are in 6th thru 8th
grades. All Scouts are to wear their Class A Uniform. Bring their Bible (any
version) and at least 2 sharpened Pencils.
Why: The program includes: God & Me for Tigers & Wolves, God & Family for
Bears & Webelos, and God & Church for Boy Scouts that are in 6th- 8th grade.

Where: Merit Badge University: York High School/Elmhurst College
Scouts may choose from 90+ merit badges taught in a single day by
our awesome cadre of merit badge instructors. Visit the MBU

opened January 13th and is available on the Three Fires Council
website. MBU is hosted by Potawatomi Trails District.

Leaders at All Levels of Scouting:
Three Fires Council Training Expo

When: Saturday February 20th, 2016 8:00am - 4:00pm. Check-in begins at 8:00.
Opening ceremony at 8:30 in Illinois Hall. Classes begin promptly at 9:00.
Where: Elmhurst College, 190 Prospect Avenue, Elmhurst, IL 60126. Parking is
in the North lot.
Cost: $35 (non-refundable). The First Aid, CPR and AED class has an additional
$15 fee for course materials.
TFC's Training Expo is an extension of our day-long Merit Badge University.
While nearly 3,000 Scouts attend MBU right around the corner, our Adult
Leaders have an opportunity for learning and fellowship too! Registration is
open to all Scouting adult leaders and volunteers. Registration and payment is
online only. Registration ends February 15th.

• If you have any uniform pieces that your Scout has
outgrown, please contact Louis Hernandez at 847-8888094. Let all of your Scout’s Parents know about this
program.

make sure that all Scouts who need a uniform, have one.
