S e v e n t h Ann u a l Nat i o n a l P r e s i d e n t ’ s awa r d for Marketing Excellence Dear Friends: Across the country, our local councils have shared the values of Scouting through their marketing materials. Our many volunteers have exhibited the spirit of Scouting through their commitment to putting a positive face on Scouting. As you will see through the winners of this award, many of our councils have succeeded in using the great events and activities that happen locally every day as avenues for telling the great story of Scouting via their marketing materials. I challenge everyone within the Scouting movement to utilize every opportunity to reduce the number of parents who say, “My son wants to join Scouting, but hasn’t been asked.” Ninety-eight councils submitted 280 entries. Each submission was judged on its own merits by a volunteer panel of marketing and public relations professionals. Awards were given in eight categories based on council classification: 200–300, 400–600, and 700–800. Congratulations to every council that submitted entries. You have shown that you understand the importance of positive, effective communications to Scouting’s continued success. Sincerely, John C. Cushman III President, Boy Scouts of America JUDGESE’ CHOIC Best Marketing C ampa i g n Class 200–300 Atlanta Area Council, Atlanta, Georgia ´Chief Seattle Council, Seattle, Washington Cradle of Liberty Council, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Detroit Area Council, Detroit Michigan Great Salt Lake Council, Salt Lake City, Utah Greater Pittsburgh Council, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Chief Seattle Council, Seattle, Washington Best M a r k e t i n g C ampaign Class 400–600 Clinton Valley Council, Pontiac, Michigan Connecticut Rivers Council, East Hartford, Connecticut Hiawatha Seaway Council, Syracuse, New York Inland Northwest Council, Spokane, Washington Keystone Area Council, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania Patriots’ Path Council, Florham Park, New Jersey W.D.
