Today’s tour will showcase the tourism and trade of Rizal and Laguna. Our tour destination is scenic because of the presence of the Sierra Mountain range and Laguna de Bay. The
trade is mostly backyard or cottage industry of which products became popular to both local and foreign tourists. Our first stop is Angono, Rizal – the Arts Capital of the Philippines.
It is the hometown of two national artists, Lucio San Pedro for music and Carlos “Botong” Franccisco for Arts. The town also boasts of other artists like Nemiranda and Perdigon to
name a few. Around the town are artworks, murals, and sculptures. The city is also popular for its Higantes Festival. The tour will proceed to Antipolo City that prides itself as the
Pilgrimage Capital of the Philippines. The Marian image of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or the Virgin of Antipolo was brought in from Mexico in 1626, and enshrined in
the Antipolo Cathedral. Popular among tourists are suman, mangoes and cashews. The Hinulugang Taktak was restored, and has been declared as a National Park. After a festive
lunch, we’ll take a scenic 2.5-hour ride to Paete, Laguna. Paete’s highly skilled wood carvers and paper mache makers will demonstrate before us their craftsmanship that has earned
the town’s reputation as the Woodcarving Capital of the Philippines. Native snacks will be available for the guests, Banchetto-style. Few steps from the plaza is Santiago Apostol
Church that houses centuries-old paintings, statues, and pulpits. Our last destination is Liliw, Laguna about 1 hour away from Paete. Liliw is known for its cold water spring resorts,
native homemade sweets, and footwear that rivals the Marikina shoe industry. The municipality of Liliw is known to be the Land of Footwear, where slippers never go out of fashion.

Corregidor Island is located at the entrance of Manila Bay in
southwestern part of Luzon. Corregidor was fortified with several
coastal artillery and ammunition to defend the entrance of Manila Bay
and the City of Manila from attacks by enemy warships in the event of
war. This important historical landmark of the Philippines is 48 kms
from the city of Manila and accessible by boat. Corregidor played an
important role during the invasion and liberation of the Philippines from
the Japanese forces. It was heavily bombarded in the latter part of the war.
The ruins left on the island serve as a military memorial to American,
Filipino and Japanese soldiers who served or lost their lives on the island.
Another fine showcase of Filipino history is waiting in Bagac, Bataan.
After lunch, we will board a chartered ferry to Bataan and head on to
Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar. Las Casas village sits in 400 hectare
property that has an expansive rice fields, a backdrop of majestic
mountains, and a running river that flows out to sea. Walk around the
village of cobblestone streets and witness history through the
architectural pieces of a bygone era from different parts of the country,
constructed brick by brick, plank by plank.
An 18th century inspired Welcome Dinner is another highlight of the
day - reminiscent of the Spanish Colonial period.

On April 9, 1942, U.S surrendered Bataan to the Japanese Imperial Army during the World War II. About 60-70,000 Filipino and American troops were forced to
make a punishing 100-kilometer march from Bataan to Tarlac of which was characterized as severe abuse by the Japanese army.. The marchers made the trek in
intense heat and were subjected to harsh treatment by the Japanese guards. Thousands died mainly by torture which became known as the Bataan Death March.
Our tour today will allow us to trace the Death March through visits to landmarks and narratives by our tour guides. Aside from memorial tours, Bataan became
popular for its Bataan Export Processing Zones(BEPZ - the first “free trade zone” in the Philippines), world-class beach resorts, Pawikan Sanctuary, and many
more.
From Bataan we will then proceed to Olongapo and Subic. Olongapo City and Subic Bay were former hosts to the largest US military facilities of the US
mainland, the Subic Bay Naval Base. After the Americans left, Subic Bay was converted into a commercial zone. In Addition, Subic Bay is also a popular
destination for weekend visitors from Metro Manila and nearby provinces. Attractions include several beaches, an underwater aquarium, jungle susurvival
tours, car racing, and duty-free shopping.
