SOAP BOX DERBY RACING
The Super Kids Program provides the opportunity for special needs children to move past the barriers that
previously prevented them from taking part in soap box derby racing and experiencing the Thrill of the Hill.
Unlike regular competitive racing, Super Kids families are not required to own their own derby car, as the
special custom, built 2 seat cars are provided by the race host organization. The special needs racer is
paired with an experienced derby race who acts as their pilot, and together they race down the slope.
The track is located on the grounds at Kawartha Downs and Speedway just outside of the
City of Peterborough. The Canadian Super Kids National Championships are open to all special needs
children between the ages of 7 and 16. Contact: [email protected]

Dream Catchers' baseball league will be running at the Norwood baseball diamond, www.peterborough.ca/pswc
Dream Catchers Baseball ~ Norwood
next to the Asphodel-Norwood Community Centre. The league is specifically
designed for children who would be unable to participate in a summer recreational
program due to safety concerns or a child's physical needs such as braces, walkers
or wheelchairs.
Each game will consist of two innings in which every child bats, runs the bases and
scores. The last batter runs the bases to score a home run. No team score is kept so
everyone wins! Each Dream Catcher player will have a "buddy" to help them out
with playing the game, whether it be fielding, batting or running the bases. The
players' safety is their first priority. The "buddy" can be a sibling, parent, friend or
relative.
