General Details
Fiberon, Veranda, and HomeSelect Guardrails have been tested and evaluated for structural strength to meet design loads and
requirements of the building codes listed under the Code Compliance section of this PER. The plant locations listed above have an
approved Q.C. Manual to manufacture the product. Fiber Composites, LLC has an Evaluation and Follow-up Service Agreement with
Pei Evaluation Service (Pei ES) and an Inspection Agreement with Progressive Engineering Inc. (Pei ). Each manufacturing facility
will be audited on a quarterly basis by Pei .
Product Descriptions
All guardrail systems (except Veranda ArmorGuard) covered by this PER are co-extruded MPVC (Mineral-Filled PVC) products
manufactured in one of two Pei ES approved colors: White and Tranquil White. Veranda ArmorGuard is co-extruded
Polyethylene/Wood core with HDPE capstock manufactured in two Pei ES approved colors: Nantucket Gray and Brazilian Walnut.
Railing systems consist of the structural components outlined in Table 2 and Table 4 and fasteners outlined in Table 3 and Table 5.
Fiberon Symmetry assembly and component details are shown in Figure 1 through Figure 10, and Fiberon Horizon assembly and
component details are shown in Figure 11 through Figure 17.
Veranda Regency White Rail assembly and component details are shown in Figure 18 through 24, Veranda ArmorGuard assembly and
component details are shown in Figure 25 through 31, and Veranda Enclave assembly and component details are shown in Figure 32
through 37.
HomeSelect Guardrails are manufactured in three (3) Pei ES approved styles: Classic, Deluxe, and Traditional. Assembly and
component details are shown in Figure 38 through 48.
General Product Usage
1. All guardrails shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions and the conditions of this PER. A copy
of the manufacturer's installation instructions shall be made easily available to the installer.
2. All framing, wood posts, beams, joists, stringers and associated connections required to anchor the railing posts are outside the
scope of this PER. All framing shall follow applicable codes or be designed by a licensed Engineer. Stairway handrail shall be designed
and constructed in accordance with the applicable codes.
3. Fiberon Symmetry Railings may be used in all construction types where untreated wood is permitted in accordance with Section
1406.3 of the IBC. The 12-ft and 10-ft spans are further limited to use in One- and Two-Family Dwellings as defined by the 2012/2015
IBC and 2012/2015 IRC.
4. All guardrail system load tests were performed using 4x4 Douglas Fir or Treated Southern Pine posts. Where alternative lumber
species are utilized, the fastener capacity shall be verified by the local code official or a registered design professional as deemed
applicable.
5. Each guardrail system may be installed at maximum spans as indicated in Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 11, Figure 18, Figure 25,
Figure 32, and Figure 38. Each system is rated for a railing height of 42 inches or 36 inches as indicated in Table 1.
