Cycle of Concerts: “Music in Chapels”
Regional Meeting of the Philharmonic Bands of RAM
The Regional Meeting of Philharmonic Bands
was organized for the first time 30 years ago, by the
Regional Secretariat for Tourism, aiming to contribute
for a greater visibility to philharmonic music and to all
work developed by the many associations, which have
always committed themselves to the promotion and
preservation of this musical genre.
This festival provides the possibility of promoting lesser known
repertories within the philharmonic music and an informal social interaction
between the different musical groups. The event’s organisation is the outcome
of a partnership between the Regional Department of Cultural Affairs, Ribeira
Brava’s City Hall and Madeira’s Association of Philharmonic Bands.
This year’s edition is held on May 11th at 3.00pm with the traditional
parade of the fifteen participant bands between the local Church Square and
the marginal avenue.
As from 4.00pm, takes off each band’s individual performance at the
main stage.
Closing the 2014’s Regional Meeting of Philharmonic Bands and as in past
music / dance
years, a special performance by the wind orchestra of Madeira’s Association
of Philharmonic Bands at 8.30pm, followed by a public tribute to Maestro
Alberto Barros.
The Regional Meeting of Philharmonic Bands is an annual event, a part of
the brand - project “Madeira Cultural Festivals“.
