Some Helpful Tips for Using Your Card
Some Helpful Tips for Using Your Card
Always check your balance by phone, text, or internet before attempting to use your card each time.
Getting started and assigning your card a PIN:
• Your card is already activated and ready to use.
• To make purchases at the point-of-sale, choose “credit”.
• To use for PIN and purchases with cash back you will need to:
°° Call 1-800-238-9762 to activate and select your PIN
°° Follow the voice prompts
Making purchases:
• Choose “credit” (not debit) when checking out. (Even
though you’re using a debit card, that’s the way the
processing network works.)
• When you swipe your card at most stores you will get a
prompt to enter your PIN:
°° Select cancel and then choose credit.
°° Ask the cashier for assistance if you are having
trouble (tell the cashier you want to use as credit).
Using your card at restaurants:
• Restaurants may temporarily “authorize” your card for
20% more than the purchase amount. They do this to
cover gratuity.
• Make sure you have enough funds in your account to
cover the authorized amount.
Spending up to your limit:
• Remember... your card does not offer you a line of credit.
• You can only spend up to your available balance.
»» If you try to spend more than is on the card you will be
charged a decline fee each time you attempt.
Note: The sixteen (16) digit number on your card is
your account number and your zip code is the zip code
on record at the donor center.
»» If you get a message “we did not recognize your
response” then notify the donor center so we can update
your address and zip code.
°° You have to listen to the message before you are
prompted to enter your PIN number.
“ Splitting” Payments:
• If your purchase amount is more than the amount
available on your debit card:
°° Tell the cashier you’d like to use two forms of payment.
°° Use your debit card as the first form of payment
(specifically tell the cashier the exact amount to
deduct from your debit card).
°° Pay the difference first with another form of payment.
Getting cash at ATMs:
• Choose checking when making cash withdrawals.
(Although you’ve got a debit card the processing
network requires you to select checking).
°° The maximum withdrawal from any ATM machine is
$400 per day.
• Enter the PIN you’ve selected by calling 1-800-238-9762
Purchasing gasoline:
• You must present your card to an attendant inside the
gas station. DO NOT use it at the pump.
»» For security reasons, your card will be declined if you try
to purchase gas “at the pump.”
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do if my reloadable Visa prepaid card is declined?
Is there a fee for the replacement card?
The merchant will inform you of the decline and a fee will be applied*
(see fee below).
To help prevent this, keep track of your balance by visiting the web site
www.prepaid.citi.com/Grifols or calling the Customer Service number
on the back of your card. It is always a good idea to check your
balance before you use your card.
There is no fee for the first replacement card. For subsequent
replacement cards there is a $6.95 fee per card. To request a
replacement card, please contact 1-877-855-7201.
Is there a fee to check my balance?
Don’t let not having a card in hand deter you from donating plasma—
saving a life. Your funds will be automatically transferred to your
replacement card and available for your immediate use.
There is no fee to check your balance, question a transaction, change
your PIN, or to report a lost or stolen card. Simply visit the web site
www.prepaid.citi.com/Grifols or call the Customer Service number on the
back of your card. You can also access your card information by clicking
the “Plasma Donor Login” button on the homepage of our website
www.Grifolsplasma.com. See the fee table on the reverse side.
What if I want to donate prior to receiving my replacement card?
In what form will I receive my payment in the meantime?
What should I do when I’ve spent the original amount I put on the
card?
Is there a maximum balance I can only have up to?
A “zero balance” card is a great way to alert you that it’s time to come
in for your next donation. But keep your card—even after the balance
is depleted. Again, the card is “reloadable”.
There is no maximum balance. The more you donate, the more you earn.
What if I change my mind and want to return (cancel) a purchase?
Can I transfer funds to my prepaid Visa?
Remember to save your purchase receipts, in case you have
merchandise returns. Have your reloadable Visa prepaid card handy
and be prepared to present it at the time of a merchandise return.
Store return policies may vary. You may receive a credit to your card, a
cash refund or even a store credit, depending on the particular store.
If the merchant’s return policy allows it, the merchant will credit the
amount of the purchase back onto your card. This may take up to one
week to process before the funds are available.
No. Transferring or wiring any funds to this card is strictly prohibited.
What happens if my card is lost or stolen?
Unlike cash, your Visa card is covered by “Zero Liability” protection.
If your card is ever lost or stolen, the card can be replaced, and the
funds credited back to your account. It may take 7 to 10 business days
to receive your replacement card.
Report lost or stolen cards immediately by calling the toll-free number
(1-877-855-7201). It is recommended that you write down this toll-free
number and keep it in a safe place in case both your card and the
accompanying materials are lost or stolen.
What is the account inactivity fee and how can I avoid it?
The account inactivity fee is only charged to accounts that do not have
a payment made to the account or have not performed a transaction
from the account in the last 90 days. It will not be assessed to an
account if the balance is zero and it will not take your account
negative.
