ALBATours Italy 2013
Enchanting Cities & Regions
FLORENCE, SIENA,
SAN GIMIGNANO
The Region of Tuscany
A mix of countryside, vineyards, great
natural beauty, and timeless cities such
as Pisa, Siena, Lucca, and Arezzo,
Tuscany has Florence and all its
Renaissance grandeur as its capital, and
is unrivalled as a cradle of art, food and
wine.
VENICE, VERONA
The Region of Veneto
Veneto comprises the majestic
Dolomites and the lagoon zone, including beautiful Verona and Venice, the
ageless capital; all magnificent churches,
lavish palazzi and stately bridges, set
upon a labyrinth of waterways which
are works of art in themselves.
ASSISI, ORVIETO
The Region of Umbria
Rich in art, culture and cuisine,
Umbria is dotted with castles, fortresses, monasteries and well-preserved
hilltowns, such as Assisi where gentle
St. Francis was born in 1181. Spoleto
presents a renowned performing arts
festival each summer.
AMALFI COAST, NAPLES,
POMPEII, SORRENTO, ISLE
OF CAPRI
The Region of Campania
Italy at its postcard best, Sorrento is
on the Amalfi Coast and lines the cliffs
that gaze across the cobalt sea to
Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. The entire
Amalfi area drips in romance and
extraordinary sights such as the Isles
of Ischia and Capri, and the ruins of
Pompeii.
ROME
The Region of Lazio
Venice
Rome is a magical blend of art,
architecture and one of the most
cosmopolitan lifestyles in the world.
Everywhere you look, something
splendid presents itself, whether a
beautiful statue, a wonderful bag, a
divine pasta and the glorious Piazza
Navona. The Roman Countryside is
home to the Castelli Romani (Roman
Castles), simply eye-popping little
towns just south of Rome.
VIBO VALENTIA, REGGIO
CALABRIA
The Region of Calabria
Located at the “toe” of southern Italy,
Calabria is a mostly mountainous
region that offers stunning vistas and a
beautiful terrain, where sea meets sky.
Reggio Calabria is the region’s biggest
city, the main launching point for ferries to Sicily and home to the spectacular Bronzi de Riace, two famous fullsize Greek bronzes that were cast in
about 460 to 430BC. Vibo Valentia sits
near the Tyrrheanian Sea close to
Tropea and Pizzo, popular seaside
vacation towns.
TAORMINA, SIRACUSA,
AGRIGENTO
The Region of Sicily
The largest island in the Mediterranean,
Sicily is separated from mainland Italy
only by the narrow Straight of Messina.
Its most prominent landmark is Mt.
Etna, the tallest volcano in Europe and
one of the world’s most active. Home
to vibrant cities and charming towns,
Sicily is overloaded with art treasures,
including Taormina’s Greek theatre
(still in use today), architectural beauty,
and an uncompromisingly high quality
of cuisine.
MILAN
The Region of Lombardy
Italy's business capital, home to the
country's stock exchange as well as its
renowned fashion and design industries, Milan is a living and breathing
urban centre. And while not as well
known for art as other Italian cities,
Milan holds its own as home to da
Vinci’s Last Supper, Caravaggio’s Basket
of Fruit and the majestic Duomo. For
football fans, it is home to AC Milan;
for opera lovers, there is La Scala; for
fashionistas, you have found your
mecca.
STRESA, BAVENO, LAKE
MAGGIORE
The Region of Piedmont
Complete with undulating hills and
striped with vineyards, Italy’s northern
Piedmont region is a haven of tranquility. In-the-know foodies seek out
Piedmont’s white truffles, hazelnuts,
chocolates, and vintages such as
Barberesco, Barolo and sparkling Asti.
It is also home to Lake Maggiore, the
second largest lake in Italy, which sits
on the south side of the Alps. On its
banks is where you’ll find the towns
of Stresa and Baveno.

Like a fine wine, Tuscany has been some time in
the making. Visitors come for a thousand reasons,
many in search of the artistic heritage of the
Renaissance (three of the sites included in your tour
are UNESCO protected – the historical centres of
Florence, Siena and San Gimignano), others to
explore the countryside, to paint, and to just “be”
amid the quiet lanes bounded by tall stone walls,
cypress trees and cream-coloured villas.
Your Dolce Vita in Italy tour, which will take you
from Rome through Tuscany to Cinque Terre, has
become one of the most popular holidays
ALBATours has ever offered. This is no surprise to
us, as we know it offers our passengers top value
from every perspective and promises not only great
fun, wonderful sightseeing and remarkable scenery,
but also the chance to immerse yourself in local
culture and learn a good deal about Italy’s matchless
food and wine. Back by popular demand! Our
cooking class at the Querceto Wine Estate Cooking
School in Siena with Chef Laura Masini.
