Dave Walker, the local studies librarian, will host a
private tour of the deepest sub-levels of the Kensington
Central Library, which holds a truly fascinating wealth of
material: books, maps, various plans, photographs,
drawings, diaries and manuscripts, which illuminate the
history and development of Kensington.
Payments can also be made by bank transfer to sort code
20-47-34 account 70519138.
No refunds can be made once an event is booked, and please
note the dates in your diary, as no tickets, receipts or booking
confirmations will be issued. However, an email reminder will be
sent a week before the event.

After the tour, guests will be able to browse through the
collection before enjoying a wine reception.

Annual general meeting

Kensington Town Hall, the Great Hall, Hornton Street
The guest speaker will be Sir Peter Hendy CBE, who
was Transport for London’s commissioner from February
2006 to July 2015.
The Mayor, Councillor Robert Freeman, has invited the
members to join him afterwards in the Mayor's Parlour
for a wine reception.
Kensington Society members attend for free, while nonmembers wishing to attend are kindly asked to make a
small donation towards the costs for the event.

Back by popular demand:
Historic pubs walkabout with Dale Ingram
The walking tour of the pubs of Portobello and beyond
in July 2015 was so popular that we're doing it again.
Just as last time, our guide will be Dale Ingram, heritage
consultant and pub aficionado, and there will be two
stops for refreshment.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and indicate
when booking whether you prefer beer or red or white
house wine.

Transforming the Kensington Palace gardens
Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, who is gardens adviser
to Historic Royal Palaces and was responsible for
the first phase of the refurbisment of the
Kensington Palace gardens, will discuss the
proposals for reconfiguring the Orangery lawn to
resemble its original early 18th century layout and
a reintroduction of exotic plants within the garden.
The talk will be followed by a wine reception in the
Orangery.
Numbers are limited to 50 people, so sign up early.
Tickets include the wine reception and are £20 per
person, members and non-members alike.
