We have such diverse representation from grades 3 through 8. We have wonderfully talented dance groups and solo dancers performing ballet, modern, hip hop and Irish step. We also have singing groups and solo singers. There are guitar players, violinists, a piano player, a tin whistle player and an actress. You really represent the PEARLS community. Vocal Brandon has many talents besides singing. He is also a break dancer, a drummer and he plays guitar. His favorite subject is Social Studies. Brandon impressed the judges during auditions with his obvious love for the song “Wish List”. Brendan Burke, 3-Roca “Fig For a Kiss Slip Jig” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Tin Whistle Brendan entered PEARLS in kindergarten and has been playing the Tin Whistle for 2 years. He loves gym and his hobbies include playing baseball and collecting state quarters. Brendan plays baseball with Woodlean on the Orioles team. Andrea Byrne, 3-Ribeiro “Can’t Hurry Love” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Andrea entered PEARLS in the 2nd grade. This environment conscious young lady is constantly singing and also enjoys swimming, dancing and traveling with her father. Lilli Hong, 6-Thoma Vocal Iliana came to PEARLS in the 4th grade and loves math and spelling. She can play keyboards and enjoys basketball and football. She is a quiet, easy going person who one day wants to be a forensic scientist. Emily Daly, 4-Annunziata “Dynamite” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dance Piano Lilli has been a PEARLS student since 2nd grade. She has been playing piano for four years and also plays flute and recorder. She is a scholar musician who loves to read and is on the Principal’s List. Shenine Jackson, 5-Hartnett “Born This Way” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Emily has been attending pearls since pre-K. She just started dancing in September of 2010 and is loving it! She also loves art and swimming. Shenine not only sings, but has been playing piano for 6 years. She enjoys listening to pop and classical music. She chose “Born This Way” because it is a song that encourages people to be proud of who they are. Kylie Del Rosario, 3-Murray Taylor Jackson, 3-Murray “Perpetual Motion” “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” & “Andantino” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Guitar Kylie came to PEARLS in second grade and is a bright, talented young lady. She started playing guitar at age 6 and studies at Concordia Conservatory. She also has been playing tennis since she was 5 and her favorite subjects are math and English. Javier Fernandez, 4-Annunziata “Let Me Think About It” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dance Javier came to PEARLS in Pre-K and enjoys math and science. He has been dancing since he was 3 years old and also sings and plays piano and drums. He enjoys entertaining crowds and hopes to be a professional performer one day. Cecley Hill, 8-Myers “Rolling in The Deep” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dance Cecley will be graduating this month after 10 years at PEARLS. In the fall she will attend The Trevor Day School with a full scholarship. She has been dancing for 4 years with Dance Theater of Harlem (3) and Harlem School of the Arts (1). She is not only a talented performer, but she is also President of the PEARLS Student Government who chose this song because she wanted a song that the audience could connect to. 8 “Starlight Waltz” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Violin Taylor has been playing the violin for only a year, but her progress has been steady. When she is not practicing, she likes to collect squinkies and Japanese take apart erasers. She likes gymnastics and ice skating and is a very happy, easy person to get to know. Maya Lisbin, 4-Annunziata “Memory” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal This show tune is sung by the character Grizabella, a one-time glamour cat who is now a shell of her former self, from the 1981 Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats. The song is a nostalgic remembrance of her glorious past and a declaration of her wishes to start a new life. It is the most popular song from the musical. Juliana Luis, 4-Tutt “Dynamite” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dance Juliana has always loved music and dancing and has taken tap, hip hop and jazz dance classes. She is in a children’s musical theater group appearing in Oliver, Sound of Music and will soon be in Annie. Also, she is learning to play the violin and loves ice skating. 9 Daniella Noriega, 4-Polsky Amalia Mayorga, 8-Bellusci “I’m Goin’ Down” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal After 10 years at PEARLS, Amalia will be going to Yonkers High School. She is in both the school band and choir and has played piano and clarinet for 8 years. She loves to write poetry, but singing is her passion and she hopes to pursue it in the future. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Claire has been at PEARLS since Pre-K and enjoys acting, singing and dancing. She takes Irish Dancing lessons and likes swimming and playing Gaelic Football. She loves cheetahs and wants to be a veterinarian. Her favorite subject in school is recess! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Guitar “Traditional Irish Reel” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dance Brideen has attended PEARLS since Pre-K and has been Irish dancing for 5 years. She is a champion swimmer for Yonkers Tsunami Swim Team and loves to play Gaelic football, Camogie, soccer and golf. Brideen loves all creatures and would like to work with animals when she grows up. “Dynamite” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dance Joel has been at PEARLS since Pre-K. He has been playing guitar for less than a year, but he’s enjoyed every moment. He also enjoys swimming and playing tennis. His favorite subject is Math. Katya loves art, tennis and ice-skating, but dancing is her passion! She has been taking different classes since she was four including tap, jazz and ballroom dancing. Her favorite subject is science and she has an amazing rock collection. She is very eager to perform in this Talent Show. Celine Morales, 6-McCormack Gianna Ray, 4-Tutt “Forget You” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Celine’s love of singing began early on when she sang in Paideia 15’s school choir in 1st grade. She was in a church group called “The Messengers” and has performed in other church programs. She also sang in the PEARLS choir. Last summer, she took part in the program “iTheatrics” in a kids version of The Wizard of Oz. Jacob Neufeld, 4-Annunziata “Twist and Shout” & “Rockin’ Robin’”. . . . “Make it Shine” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Gianna loves to sing and dance. Her first recital for solo singing was when she was just 4 years old. She’s been dancing ballet since she was 3. She performs at various nursing homes with a group from Ballet Arts of Southern Westchester. Her dream is to be an artist and she is very excited to be in this show. Samantha Revelo, 4-Polsky Guitar Jacob has been playing guitar for only about 7 months, but loves it a lot and has learned quickly. He chose “Twist & Shout,” the arrangement of which is based on the version made famous by the Beatles, because of its lively chords and upbeat rhythm. He has been a PEARLS student since Pre-K, and loves to draw and play basketball and soccer. 10 Daniella has been in PEARLS since Pre-K and has been dancing and singing since the age of 3 when she stole the show at her pre-school Christmas pageant. She enjoys being on her swimming and soccer teams and playing basketball. She loves to play her guitar and write short stories and lyrics to songs she hopes one day to sing in front of the world. Dance Brideen Peel, 3-Ribeiro Claire McLaughlin, 3-Roca “Can’t Hurry Love” “Who Says” “Rockin’ Robin’” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Samantha has been in PEARLS since Pre-K. She enjoys music and likes to sing every song on the radio. She loves gymnastics and practices every Saturday and has played soccer every fall since she was 4 years old. She loves animals and will be a veterinarian when she grows up. 11 Thomas Wagner, 3-Roca Serena Sarkiso, 5-Hartnett “Born This Way” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Serena has been in PEARLS since Pre-K and her favorite subject is science. She loves music and nature and enjoys all outdoor activities. Most of all, she loves swimming and is part of the Yonkers Tsunami swim team. Violin Thomas has been playing the violin (which he chose for its smooth and peaceful sound), for 2½ years. He performed at the Riverdale Hebrew Home for the Aging this past holiday and has also played for Ms. Roca’s class. He dreams of designing robots and video games. He may one day compose the musical scores for video games. Chrislyn Webster, 7-Natelli Patricia Scott, 3-Roca “Can’t Hurry Love” “Ashokan Farewell” & “New World Symphony” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal “Forget You” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Patricia came to PEARLS in Pre-K and loves math and science. She enjoys drawing, Irish Step Dancing, performing with her theater group, reading to her little brother and playing golf with her father. She is very excited about dressing up like The Supremes. Chrislyn has been at PEARLS for 3 years and was part of the choir. She’s been singing since she was able to say her ABCs and she loves it, but she is passionate about acting. She has been acting for over 6 years and has had the lead role in many plays, such as “Juliet” in Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”. Jayla Thomas, 3-Ribeiro Kyra White, 4-Annunziata My Mom Is Crazy “Rockin’ Robin” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Drama Jayla Thomas is a first-year, honor student at PEARLS and has been acting for the past 2 years. She has done work for Kellogg’s, Citibank and Ernst & Young, to name a few. Jayla also plays the piano, plays on a soccer team and loves to dance. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Kyra has been at PEARLS since Pre-K and her favorite subject is math. She enjoys singing and dancing and is excited about doing a classic song. Everyone falls in love with her because of her fun attitude. She loves animals and hopes to be a veterinarian. Cie Thompson, 4-Quigley “Rockin’ Robin” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Cie is a fun loving young lady who has always been interested in singing. At the age of 3, and without any formal training, she was singing a perfect rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s song “Breakaway”. Cie is now learning to play the guitar and would love to play soccer. Danielle Touba, 4-Annunziata “Make It Shine” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Vocal Danielle has attended PEARLS since Pre-K. In her spare time she enjoys singing, dancing, writing short stories, songs and poetry.
