Ever After Bridal, Exclusive United States Representative of Veluz Reyes
Ever After Bridal owner, Jennifer Weller, is the only authorized representative in the United States for
the celebrated Filipino bridal designer, Veluz Reyes. Jennifer, who was a Veluz bride herself, works directly with Reyes to offer US brides, wedding gowns
from her famous Ready to Wear (RTW) lines. Anyone in the United States who
wants to purchase a Veluz gown must contact Jennifer directly through her
company, Ever After Bridal.
Jennifer’s studio is located in Hopewell Junction, NY, giving brides-tobe in the Tri-State area the advantage of trying on Veluz gowns within driving
distance of home. She caters to one bride at a time, which means that only one
bride and their family members are present in her studio during each appointment. Jennifer takes pictures of the brides as they try on her gowns, encouraging them to go home and relive their experience over and over again. The
pictures are then e-mailed to each bride, making the decision-making process
easier and more personal when trying to choose between her many gorgeous
gowns. Jennifer is busily preparing for the launch of the 2016 RTW collection at the end of October. The collection will be introduced first in the United States, and then released by Veluz herself in the Philippines, at a later
date. Jennifer is especially excited for this new collection launch because she has helped design two gowns
that are exclusive to Ever After Bridal. She explains, “Veluz will not be selling these two exclusive gowns to the rest of the world! The only way to get
them is through me!”
Jennifer is extending a
generous offer for FCDC members
only. Anyone who mentions being a
member of FCDC when requesting
an appointment will receive a $200
discount off any bridal gown, whenever the member is ready to make a
purchase. The studio is by appointment only and you can schedule
your appointment with her directly
through her website. You can learn

Reyes, and Ever After Bridal, by

Heneral Luna Makes an Impact on the Nation
Heneral Luna is making headlines across the Philippines, being heralded
as one of the best movies ever produced. The biopic, directed by Jerrold Tarog,
is about General Antonio Luna (played by John Arcilla), who led the Philippine
Revolutionary Army during the Philippine-American War. Although other leaders
supported the American colonization of the Philippines, Luna was known to be an
advocate for the nation’s independence.
Originally, the independent film was a limited release, only in theaters for
a brief time period. The overwhelmingly positive response to the movie influenced
its comeback to theaters across the Philippines. On September 15, 2015, Heneral
Luna made history by becoming the highest-grossing Philippine historical film of all
time. Although Tarog and script writers took some creative liberties, the masterminds
behind the movie have been highly praised for being historically accurate overall.
It has earned 240 million pesos as of October 15. Profits continue to rise as it is still
being shown in the Philippines and was recently released in select North American
theaters. Throughout social media, supporters of the film are discouraging viewers
from pirating copies, so that it could earn the revenue that it deserves.
The timeliness of the movie is significant, making a major impact on Filipinos
as we prepare for the upcoming Philippine elections. According to critics, the movie
focuses on the conflicts between Filipino political leaders whose strong differences
of opinion make it difficult to resolve the issues that plague the torn nation. This sentiment, as harsh as it may seem,
is very similar to how Filipinos today view the current leadership of the country.
Heneral Luna is the Philippines’ official submission for Best Foreign Language Film for the 88th Academy
Awards. The movie will premiere at The Mills at Jersey Gardens, in Elizabeth, on October 30. FCDC encourages
members and friends to see this important film, as it is a piece of history that affects us today.

To Those Affected by Breast Cancer
The country is painted pink for the month of October as we unite as a nation to honor Breast Cancer
Awareness Month.
To the women, and men, fighting breast cancer at this very moment: Many of us do not know the
emotional and physical toll this disease is taking on your body. We can only imagine and empathize, and
pray that you use every bit of strength to conquer. Although many of us do not have a clue what it is like to
have cancer, you are not alone in the fight. This month is meant to raise awareness of the disease so that more
people can work year-round, in any way they can, to give you the ammunition you need to fight and win. Just
keep going.
To the family members of those who are fighting: This is a struggle for you too. Driving back and forth
to appointments, sacrificing personal time to ensure your loved one gets the treatment he or she needs when
it is needed. Staying up all hours of the night or being woken up in the wee hours of the morning, to hear your
dear mother, father, brother, sister, spouse, or whomever it is, cry or complain about the disease. You are their
rock. Be there and be strong. Provide your loved one with the support necessary to get through the trying time. Always remember that the night always ends; joy cometh in the morning. Your loved one comes to you, of all
people, for a reason. Be the light they need.
To those who lost a loved one to the disease: Your heart will always ache, but you should never feel
like your heart is empty. Your loved one is a piece of you and will never leave your side. Remember the memories. Remember the relationship that you had. If you are a believer, you will meet your loved one again.
To the survivors: You are an everyday inspiration. Everyone fighting the disease is using you as an
example that there is hope and there is a way to survive this. You have firsthand knowledge and the most
personal experience with breast cancer. You know what it is like to have it, but you also know what it is like to
beat it. Thank you for always smiling, for sharing your story, and for giving us all the hope we need to continue
to fight. One day, everyone will be cancer-free.

Climate Week in Manila, also known as “COP21: The Road to Paris Starts in Manila,” took place the
week of October 5, 2015. Organized by the Embassy of France to the Philippines, the purpose of the event
was to raise awareness about global climate change. The week of events also publicized the United Nation’s
upcoming 21st Conference of Parties (COP21), which will be held in Paris from November 30 to December 11.
COP21 will gather countries from around the world to create a global action plan to alleviate climate change.
The public event included free concerts, art exhibits, and conferences. The celebration ended with the
Bike to Paris: A Symbolic Bike Ride for the Climate, which started from Rizal Park and ended at the SM Mall of
Asia Globe. The bike ride was led by the French Embassy and other diplomats. Hundreds of Filipinos, including
environmental activists and media personalities, were invited to take the ride.
The inspiration for Climate Week came from the Manila Call to Action Committee on Climate Change,
which was launched by President Benigno Aquino III and French President Francois Hollande on February 26.
