Description
Mrs. Morimoto and her 22 students are shown working together to make a large
kite. The image illustrates how our wonderful school and the amazing “Mrs. M.”
respect the distinct qualities of each child and simultaneously foster a sense of
unity and inclusiveness. Images on the kite include a koi fish swimming
upstream (a Japanese symbol of good luck and strength of purpose) and
peony flowers (good fortune and prosperity).

varied and captivating perspectives of 22 kindergartners. Many hand-made

Botanical SunPrint Collage
Description
The children collected native plants, flowers & leaves of their choice and then
dried and pressed them. Each child made their own selection & arrangement
of the botanicals on the SunPrint Paper. We then exposed the paper to sunlight
which caused a chemical reaction to the paper and a positive image. After
rinsing & drying the paper the images were scanned and assembled into a
collage with each child's name written in Japanese to identify each print.

Collection of Origami Butterflies
“Get to Know K-110” —
A Photo Book
The art work is a display of paper butterflies each child made following origami
instructions and using a 3"x 3" piece of paper. The butterflies are assembled in a
collectible case with a black frame and a glass front opening, and underneath
each one of them there is a label with the name in Japanese of the child who
made it. In the back of the case a legend explains the English version of the
children's names. The idea for this project originated to emphasize the art of
origami as one of the most important traditions the children can learn from the
Japanese culture; the choice of butterflies as a subject was made because of
their variety in colors and patterns, which allowed a more colorful work.

Get to know K-110, JBBP's Ms. Tonai-Figueras’ kindergarten class! This 100-page
book features a portrait of each kid in Room 110 with cute quotes of what they
like about Kindergarten and favorite things they enjoy at quiet choice, with
their family, eating, and much more. The book also features random
photographs of the kids in their classroom, at school events, field trips,
consultant’s time, with their Big Buddies, and a picture of their self-portrait. Enjoy
looking at each kid’s artwork of “What Do I Want to Be When I Grow Up”. A
memorable piece of Room 110’s first year in Kindergarten that will be treasured
by both children and parents alike.

Pop-up Book
Here’s a wonderful little fairy tale about how the chaotic class of Room 105 is
transformed into a class filled with good students. Each wild monster was
designed and named by each child as part of the regular math curriculum. The
bilingual book was lovingly hand bound and each pop-up page was uniquely
designed. The book measures at 12” x 8”.

The kids in Ms. Fujiwara's class have enjoyed producing an exclusive
compilation of comics for your enjoyment. They have developed unique stories
that touch on problems in the world they would like to solve. The 105 writers
have created super characters that bring about a positive change in our
communities. They have developed, expressed, written and illustrated their own
ideas. The manifestation of that process is their book; an 81/2 x 11 image wrap
hardcover with premium paper published by Blurb.

Feeling cheerful, exhausted or hysterical? Let Ms Inouye's 2nd graders help you
express your feelings. Room 119 students, teacher and even the principal act
out 23 unique emotions to brighten your day. It also comes with 2 large oval
shaped gel clings with a heart shaped opening to highlight how you feel. This
collage comes in a black frame with glass protection, measuring 28 1/4 x 20
1/2.

Peace Garden
The large peace garden terrarium is designed by local designer Ken Shelf from
the succulence store in Bernal heights as an elaborate and sweet home for
beta fish, Cherry Blossom, or AKA CB. The garden also features a fossil fish and
select succulent plants to create a beautifully designed terrarium. The children
of Room 119 democratically named the beta and will all collectively choose
another word for peace as they discuss synonyms and language differences
with Ms. Inouye that will made into a garden sign.

“What I Want to Be” Mugs
The individual peace gardens are in the same spirit as the larger one (silent
class auction piece) and have the theme of people working together to make
peace, or to make community. The individual projects are meant to reflect the
spirit of individual uniqueness and how everyone can make a difference with
contributions in working together for a common goal. We are drawing a
metaphor between group collaboration and democratic process and how
each unique person has a valuable role in community.
Many say that the eyes are the window to the soul, and never before have you
seen a window quite like this! With the help of JD Beltran, the children of 117
have produced an eye catching movable painting that depicts the children's
faces and eyes on a high-definition, framed picture that can go anywhere in
your home. All eyes are on you to bid!
Light up the night with your children’s artwork! In this en”light”ening project, the
children of Room 117 have really turned on the switch to their imaginations with
their colorful artwork on translucent paper applied to a traditional rice paper
lamp. Click on the switch and donate!
Within each of us lives a memory of a child who one said “I want to fly to the
moon, save a life or sing to the world on stage. Even if time has changed our
fate, our dreams stay within us. The children of Room 117 have captured their
dreams in beautiful charcoal drawings of "What I want to be when I grow up."
To add to the originality of the piece, portraits were taken and put together on
a useful and timeless 11 oz. ceramic mug. What do YOU want to be when you

vase. The completed piece is weatherproofed.

sketches are cute, vegan and dishwasher/food safe.

Taiko Drum class has been a new and exciting addition to the school year for
the 4th graders in Bungalow A. This new skill and focus has been captured in
these beautiful black and white photo collage mirrors. Armed with printed
photographs, scissors, and a glue stick, the students created photo collages of
themselves taken during Taiko class. Each collage was then printed onto wood
and now adorns a stunning 10”x10” wood framed mirror.


This playful clipboard captures an expressive portrait of each student in Ms.
Tanaka's 4th grade class as they interact with their very own hand drawn
whimsical sketch depicted above. Each individual portrait and sketch was
printed onto maple wood veneer then mounted onto a 4”x11” clipboard.
These priceless and original pieces are both fun and functional as they capture
a precious moment in time.
Friendship is the theme to this beautiful wooden clock. The children of room 206
are shown having fun climbing on and playing around the Kanji for friend. The
clock measures approximately 22" in diameter. Telling time has never been so
much fun!

have written their first name using hiragana, katakana or kanji characters. The
names have been framed by Japanese fabric kasuri and a decorative pillow

The Auction art piece for the 2012 5th Grade graduating class is a 20"x30" photo
collage. It is a wonderfully detailed composite photo which depicts all of this
year's graduates, Mrs E and Mr. Hippard…frolicking in the San Francisco
Japanese Tea Garden. This delightful image is a whimsical memento of their
time spent at Clarendon.
This gorgeous work will be mounted flat, on Dibond Aluminum, with archival
