Planned Giving
We all have a particular reason for giving.
Planning a gift in your Will or Estate Plan can help to change
lives for generations to come, ensuring that Newfoundland and
Labrador’s children have every advantage possible, offering them
the best chance for a healthy future.
JEMIMA (MIMIE) BRUSHETT
Mimie was born on February
20, 1917 in St. John’s, NL.
She enjoyed life to the fullest,
raising her family, singing in
her church choir, bowling, and
volunteering for The Salvation
Army, up until 93 years of age.
Mimie’s granddaughter was a patient of the Janeway for ten years.
Mimie was always concerned about children getting the medical
treatment they need.
Mimie passed away on October 17, 2011, but her legacy lives on
through a gift that she made to the Janeway from her estate.

Jamarama
Here at the Janeway, our province’s sick
and injured children wear their PJs each and
every day. Sometimes those days can turn
into weeks or months.
On Friday, October 26th, people from across the
province wore their pajamas to work and school to
support the brave kids in our hospital who don’t get to
change out of their PJs. We have turned pajamas into a
symbol of support, strength, and courage. By wearing
your PJs for Jamarama, you show your support for our
province’s brave children.
On behalf of the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation,
we thank you for your support. Because of you, Jamarama
raised over $148,000 for the Janeway Children’s Hospital.
We don’t need to reiterate how important your support
is for all our kids at the Janeway. From broken arms to
serious illnesses, it’s because of you that we can offer
our kids the best possible care.

Music Therapy, the clinical use of music to promote
mental and emotional health and improve the quality
of life for children with psychological or physical
conditions. Children like 3-year-old Minxie, who
suffers from severe cerebral palsy and chronic lung
disease. Music Therapy is highly effective in relieving
stress and anxiety, warding off depression and
helping children learn to move in a fun environment,
decreasing their overall muscle tension.

• 45,749 visits to Outpatient Clinics
CHILD HEALTH PROGRAMS
Many children spend extended periods of time
at the Janeway dealing with serious health concerns
that affect their overall well-being and mental health.
Through donor support, our medical team is able
to provide programming in areas such as LifeStyles,
Eating Disorders and Diabetes, all of which teach
children to better care for themselves today,
improving their overall health for the future.
Music Therapy continues to help Minxie grow
and thrive in so many astounding ways!

Upon joining the Janeway Children’s

I was given a tour of the hospital and it was
then that I realized just how important this
job is. On this tour, I saw a premature baby

and I asked one of the nurses if this child

that because of the support they receive

this little girl would make it! To this day,
that response and the image of that tiny,

Children’s Miracle Network® raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals in North America, 14 of
which are in Canada. These hospitals, in turn, use the money where it is needed most. When a
