There is a great deal of alignment between HarTru and Cissel in the two companies’ focus on
innovation, global reach, and satisfying the needs
of customers. Where Har-Tru has traditionally
been clay court focused, Cissel has the ability to
fabricate product for use not just on clay courts but on all types
of surfaces and even in other sports. Cissel has an exceptional
team of people with deep knowledge of the products and a history of customer excellence. Har-Tru will add to this the drive
to ignite human potential and develop champions. There is no
doubt this is going to be a great match - great for tennis and
great for you.

So how do we bring these two great companies together? In this
transition year we will continue to operate separately as Har-Tru
Sports and Cissel Sports. For this year only we will have two
separate catalogs - a Har-Tru catalog and a Cissel
Sports catalog. There will be a different set of
products in each but there will be considerable
crossover. In each catalog you will notice some
product consolidation and some different product names and numbers. You will also see the
Courtmaster and Hoag brands appearing next
to the Har-Tru brands. If it gets at all confusing or something seems to be missing from last
year please call us and we will help clarify. Next
year we will have the full line of great products
together in one single Har-Tru catalog.

s some of you may have heard, in February
of 2012 Har-Tru Sports acquired the JA
Cissel Manufacturing Company, out of Lakewood,
NJ. JA Cissel, like Har-Tru, has a long history of
bringing innovative tennis products to market.
Long before most companies even considered
international procurement Cissel was searching worldwide for the best products at the best
prices. Additionally they became recognized
experts at fabricating nets, windscreens, curtains,
padding, court covers and more. If there was
a tennis product you wanted and couldn’t find
it anywhere, JA Cissel would find it for you or
make it themselves. The company became best
known for its Courtmaster brand of tennis court
equipment and accessories and its Hoag brand
ball baskets and teaching carts, but they also
produced products for multiple sports including
platform tennis, pickleball, volleyball, baseball and more. With operations on the east and west coast JA Cissel products have been
used and continue to be used at facilities around the world.

Developing Champions Around the World
When you own a Har-Tru court you own a piece of history. HarTru is made from natural, green stone formed hundreds of millions
of years ago in the Appalachian Mountains. This stone is quarried
in Charlottesville,Virginia just below historic Monticello, the home
of Thomas Jefferson. This uniquely hard and angular stone was first
used for Har-Tru in 1932 when a test court was built in Hagerstown,
MD. It was easy to build with, easy to maintain and fast to dry and
steadily became the surface of choice for avid tennis players and
aspiring champions. In 1975, Har-Tru took its place in the history
books when it became the surface of the US Open for three years.
Americans were a dominant force as Chris Evert won all three
times and Connors made it to two finals winning it all in 1976. This
in no small part helped fuel the tennis boom where Har-Tru courts
became integrated in the fabric of the tennis community.
With courts in 23 different countries and
every state in the US, this uniquely American
surface is now the training ground for the
next wave of grand slam champions. HarTru remains dedicated to developing these
champions through the sponsorship of
tournaments, leagues, training centers and
grassroots programs like 10 & Under Tennis.

We offer many packaging options for both the contractor and court owner. Most of
our products come in 80-lb. bags with the option of getting that product in an Easy-Lift
50-lb. bag as well. The 50-lb. bag option is intended for those of us not used to handling
bags all day. Some insurance company requirements in certain areas will dictate using a
50-lb. bag. Both the 80-lb. and the 50-lb. bags can be palletized and stretch wrapped for
easy handling and weather protection.
For our contractors, we also stock and load Har-Tru or HydroBlend in bulk bags. These
disposable bags are available in 2000-lb., 2500-lb. and 2800-lb. and can be taken right
from the truck to the court with a forklift.

The Har-Tru Gator Rake is one of the finest grooming and leveling tools we have ever offered. The product is all
aluminum and stainless steel. The tine system is composed of stainless steel rods less than 1/8th inch in diameter that
puts just the right bite into your court surface, leaving a finely groomed, highly manicured appearance. The Har-Tru
Gator Rake can be towed behind a cart or pulled by hand depending on your needs. Weight can be added to the top

includes 3 DVDs filmed in partnership with USPTA. The DVDs cover
topics from “What is Har-Tru?” to
the latest in sub-surface irrigation,
annual maintenance procedures and
step-by-step instructions for topdressing.
The lute/scarifier is two tools in one – made of all-aluminum for scarifying, leveling and removing loose granules.
It is strong and sturdy, yet light enough to use all day and
excellent for spreading new material during top-dressing.
The concave shape of the 30”-wide blade allows the tool
to “float” along the surface, without grabbing or digging in.

36’ Temporary Lines – TAPQS36HT. Our 36’ temporary lines come in red, to match
the red ball used on 36’courts and to show up sharply against the Har-Tru green. The
system comes in two pieces, an outside rectangle and an inside I. The pieces are attached
together with Velcro and secured to the court surfaces with just 12 nails. Nails are
included with the lines. Lines are 1” wide.
60’ Temporary Lines – TAPQS60HT. These lines are identical to the 36’ lines except
they are colored orange to match the orange ball used in 60’ tennis. 10 nails (included)
secure these to the court. One Velcro intersection allows you to install the lines without
disconnecting the center strap. All intersections are stitched together. Lines are 1 1/2”
wide.
36’ & 60’ Permanent Lines – TAPQS60GP. The 60’ lines are made from our Herringbone tape but are colored green. These are designed for courts that are regularly
used for both full size and 60’ play. The green color helps the 60’ layout blend into the
court when the regulation size court is in use. These lines are nailed into the court surface similar to standard court lines. Each box comes with 180’ of tape, enough for one
60’ court or one 36’ court.

The tape stretcher ratchet has a 2”-wide slot
to insert tape for quick and easy installation of
straight line tapes by one person. The use of
a leather pad and support strap give a stable
low base, allowing the ratchet to pull the tape
straight and taut just above the surface so it
can be nailed securely. The tape stretcher will
improve the straightness of your tape, as well as decrease your
installation time. It is especially helpful with old tapes.
The Knee Nailer was designed to reduce the grind
of hand nailing. It is constructed of highly durable 11 gauge
steel, stable wheels and a removable, 1” heavy-density
foam pad to kneel on. The top of the unit is 3-3/8” off the
ground. By placing one knee on the cushioned surface, an
individual can roll comfortably along the length of the line
without having to constantly get up and down. With 2000
nails in one court, this little accessory provides big relief.

The Tow Model Roller is an easy-to-use alternative to the
power roller. It can be pulled by a golf cart, lawn tractor
or utility vehicle and still offer the same rolling speed
and convenience as the power roller. This unit can be
upgraded to a motorized roller by adding the power head
of the Court Pac Pro as shown on page 13. It comes with
a towing tongue, hitch pin, urethane blades, and front and
rear court brushes. Shown here with optional auxiliary
wheels. The tow roller comes in a 4’ and 5’ width and has
a 1 year warranty.

The drag brush/lute combination has three individual rows of
6” bristles.Two softer, outer bristles move
the finest particles of Har-Tru, and a third
firm, inner bristle levels low spots and divots.
Turn the brush over and you have a 7’ lute,
perfect for cutting out high spots or leveling

2. The higher the model numbers the more water the head
will put on the court and the further the throw radius.
3. The Rainbird Falcon Series has a different head for full
circle (FC) and part circle (PC) rotation so you want to
select the head that meets your needs.
4. HS means it is a high speed head. High speed heads turn

Windscreens are a functional and aesthetic addition to your
tennis courts.They provide a dark backdrop against which
players can see and react to ball movement better.They
serve to break up gusting winds and allow consistent, even
air flow. Windscreens minimize annoying distractions from
nearby swimming pools, parking lots, highways, and players
on adjacent courts.They give courts a professional appearance and increase playing pleasure by providing a consistent
background and color.

With today’s various windscreen materials, the decision regarding which one to use should be based primarily on cost
and aesthetic considerations rather than on wind reduction because all windscreens work well to break up gusting
winds. Another consideration is how dense a windscreen
can be installed without risking fence damage from strong
winds.
For smaller budgets, the PVC offers high mildew and sun
resistance at an excellent price, while the polypropylene Air
Master I is an excellent choice for controlling wind while
providing consistent airflow.They both look great on the
court and add to your playing pleasure.
Nine-foot windscreens are recommended for nearly all
courts, and they should include anti-billow tabs as well as 6”
x 12” openings placed 5’ to 10’ apart. Six-foot windscreens
generally do not look as attractive as, nor reduce wind as
well as, ninefoot windscreens.They should only be used if
the facilities are located near the water with very strong
winds, which would destroy fences with 9’ windscreens
attached.
Our most highly recommended windscreen is the Mastershade Plus. Made of knitted high-density polyethylene
monofilament, it has superior UVresistance and a special
“heat-set” treatment that allows the windscreen to lie flat
and straight on the fence with no billowing.

When ordering padding for a
circular column, you need to
provide us with the circumference and
diameter of the column in inches for
whichever pad you want (2 1/2” or 4”
thick) so that we can determine the
size of the padding you will need. The
finished pad size will be significantly
different than the post circumference
because foam changes shape as it wraps
around a round object. Our sales service rep will provide you with the
finished pad size and price.
